YYauheniya Satsura🏡 Modest but Convenient Hotel Near the Beach
We stayed at this hotel in Pangkor, and overall, our experience was positive.
- 📍 **Location:** It's super close to the beach and the main street with cafes and shops – you really couldn't ask for a better spot.
- 🏠 **Accommodation Style:** The hotel is made up of small bungalows, each with its own entrance. Most have a little terrace with a table. It's all very simple, but clean and pleasant.
- 🛏️ **Amenities:** The bedding was clean, there was always hot water, and the air conditioners were powerful. The towels, however, are quite worn out and could use replacing.
- 🏊 **Pool:** There is a pool, but it looked a bit gloomy, so we didn't use it.
- 👥 **Staff:** The owners are polite and friendly. No deposit is required. There's a front desk, but it's not open 24/7, which is something to keep in mind if you're checking in late.
📌 **Bottom Line:** A simple yet tidy hotel with an excellent location. It's suitable for those looking for affordable accommodation by the sea without extravagant expectations. We were happy with our stay.

AAlaosuoniOn the whole of Pangkor Island, the Hornbill Retreat is the best hotel. The facilities are very new, and I particularly love the dry/wet separation in the room layout. The wash basin and shelves are set up in the middle corridor, which is very convenient to use, allowing space for luggage and various items. The row of benches outside the room is perfect for an immersive experience enjoying the mountain views and chatting with family and friends – it's fantastic.
The owner personally greeted us and gave a brief introduction and arrangement. His Chinese is excellent 👍.
The hotel has its own restaurant, and the complimentary breakfast is very high-end. It's open to the public for breakfast and dinner, but not lunch. Surprisingly, the prices are even cheaper than outside cafes, and the food is tastier 😋 – truly amazing! The restaurant offers sea views, and on clear days, you can even catch a beautiful sunrise!

YYuni LiangThe location is quiet and safe, not too far from the city center and tourist attractions. There's a food court just 2 minutes away with many breakfast options. It would be even better if there was a washing machine 😁. This place is suitable for backpacker groups as the rooms are spacious and the beds are large. It's also great for family tours.

AAnonymous UserChecking in was swift. Room was of a good size. Bed and pillows were all good. Aircon was erratic and noisy. One minute it was warm and the next, freezing. We could not adjust the temperature setting. Like it was already pre set.
There was only 1 box of toothbrush in the bathroom, even though it was a room for 2. The most annoying part was the shower area whereby when you are showering, you are standing in a pool of soapy water. Even till the next morning, there's still water in the shower area. It wasn't fully drained. Someone should probably check on room 548.
Breakfast was just ok. Was somewhat surprised that people would use their bare hands to pick up the bread they were going to slice instead of using tongs or the cloth provided. I do not know whether her hands were clean or dirty, and as such, avoided the bread section.

WWLawThe hotel's location is superb 👍🏻 It's connected to the large mall next door, so everything you need is right there. They even offer free late-night snacks from 11 PM to 12 AM: the unsweetened soy milk is delicious and super smooth (you can add syrup yourself), the black glutinous rice sweet soup isn't too sweet or greasy 👍🏻, and there's also plain congee (with various toppings like shredded pork floss available). It's truly impressive and makes you feel at home.
The room is very clean, and the bed is incredibly comfortable for sleeping. At night, it's just a 10-minute walk to the dessert and snack street. Driving to Gaowen Street for bean sprout chicken and local specialties is super close, just a few minutes away 👍🏻 👍🏻.
I'll definitely stay at this fantastic Weil Hotel again on my next trip to Ipoh.
The hotel facilities are complete and comfortable, and the staff are very enthusiastic ❤️

Its like a studio type with kitchen , just the microwave bit disgusting. Have balcony, big TV, parking available at the hotel. Driving distance to everywhere. Overall is good.

MMirabelle ChenThis was our second stay here. First, a lovely lady at the front desk (apologies, I didn't catch her name tag) provided very attentive and detailed service. She proactively explained many check-in specifics and shared upgrade offers. Unfortunately, the housekeeping staff clearly missed some things and didn't thoroughly check if all in-room amenities were complete. The pillowcases weren't on the pillows, the conditioner and shower gel in the bathroom were empty, and there was only one tissue left in the box. When I called the front desk for these supplies, some were still missing when they were delivered. Hilton is a well-known upscale international hotel, and such oversights really shouldn't happen. I hope to see improvement on our next visit.

The apartment's biggest advantage is its excellent location. There are plenty of restaurants, cafés, convenience stores, and shopping options within walking distance, making it very convenient for families and larger groups. The host was responsive and replied promptly when we raised issues during our stay.
Unfortunately, the cleanliness and maintenance of the property fell well below our expectations. We encountered ants throughout the apartment—including the living room, sofa, dining area, kitchen, bedrooms, and bathrooms—which made it difficult to enjoy our stay. Although the host provided insect spray after we reported the issue, the infestation was so widespread that spraying the entire apartment was neither practical nor a comfortable solution.
Several areas were dusty, the curtains had a noticeable layer of dust, and the bedsheets and toilet rolls appeared old. We were also charged RM60 for an extra bedsheet for two nights, but the condition of the bedding did not justify the additional fee. The sofa showed signs of wear, and one of the ceiling fans was noisy during operation.
For larger groups, please note that when someone showers upstairs, the downstairs bathroom cannot be used properly due to water pressure issues. We were informed that this affects every unit in the building, suggesting it is a known issue rather than an isolated incident.
The facilities were also disappointing. The jacuzzi was unavailable during our stay and appeared to be non-functional, making it more decorative than usable.
The host initially agreed to compensate us for the cleaning fee due to the cleanliness issues, but we did not receive any further update after that.
Overall, the apartment has great potential because of its strategic location, but significant improvements in cleanliness, pest control, maintenance, and facility upkeep are needed before I could recommend it to others.
