Stayed here with daughter for the start of the Cumbria Way walk. Arrived by train and it's literally right outside the train station entrance.top marks for location
Twin room. Large bathroom with bath. Some may say room is dated. For price excellent .
Weatherspoons for food around the corner - less than a 10 mi s walk
Friendly staff filled our water bottles before we set off for our walk.
All in all met all our requirements.
Also for information it's dog friendly too.
For £50 for night (deal if booked train ticket through trip.com got discount on Hotels.
This hotel is great, with beautiful indoor and outdoor environments. You can overlook Lake Windermere from the hotel garden. Bottled drinking water and snacks and candies are provided in the room. It is best to book the hotel's dinner in advance. The hotel will also send an email to remind you whether you need to order food in the hotel before check-in. We ordered food on the spur of the moment and it tasted very good. If the itinerary was not arranged, I really want to stay one more night.
Had read dome negative reviews but actually had a great experience.
Room was spacious bathroom lovely. Fresh and beautifully clean. Loved the decor.
Excellent staff, especially as I arrived 1am!
Bargain at £41 as well! Will definitely use as a stopover fir Scotland fron now on!
Stayed two nights in the ”Cosy room.”
Room was abit small but lovely and well presented, although I felt the room it's self wasn't fully cleaned. Their was a few cob webs on the ceilings, quite abit of rubbish under the bed and the shower had abit of mould on the sealant around the shower door.
Breakfast was lovely, with lots of variety and polite and friendly waiters.
The hotel is a bit old, but the location is super convenient, right across from the train station. The breakfast spread was quite good, and the front desk service was excellent. Plus, there's a really tasty fish and chips shop downstairs!
Outstanding, I had a superb stay ,the George is unique
Whilst, having a timeless aspect ,magnificent historic building it has modern features, and aspects, that make it very comfortable.
The best hotel experience, I have had for year's, I am looking forward to staying again, a perfect end to my
Christmas break.
Second stay here. Hotel is lovely. Well located if your travelling by train and easy to get to all parts of the lake district by bus too. Rooms are nice. Beds comfy. Breakfast is served instead of a buffet which makes it nicer. Had dinner included this stay. First night was a really nice 3 course menu. Second night was an allowance against a reduced menu which wasn't so good but didn't detract from our stay. Staff are really friendly too.
The hotel is located on the hillside of the lake area, manor-style, beautiful appearance, with a garden and large lawn, the environment is beautiful. Originally booked a classic twin room, after considering such a good environment, I still enjoyed it, so I looked at the picture and added money to book a club twin room. I was very looking forward to it. As a result, I was disappointed when I went upstairs. First of all, the elevator went to the first floor (the second floor in China), and our room was on the second floor. So the chartered driver who can work hard for Trip.com helped us take the box, and then after entering the door, I found that it was completely different from the picture. It was worse than the classic twin room we originally booked. There was a sofa, no coffee table, no desk and chair, and the service desk negotiated. The front desk staff was busy with restaurant service. So every time I asked him to ring the bell and wait, and I denied that there was a mistake. I insisted that the picture on Trip.com was wrong. What was given to us was the club twin room. There were no other rooms at present, so I could helpless stay and spent the worst night of the 16 nights of the trip. Fortunately, later Trip.com came forward to coordinate the refund of the difference and made corresponding compensation. We are still satisfied with the after-care work of Trip.com .
We stayed in Carlisle for a couple of nights. The hotel was a 5 minute walk from the station and close to the city centre. There were a lot of pubs and restaurants close by which was convenient. The hotel was clean and comfortable.
Fantastic little Inn. Stayed for one night between Lake District activities at honister and buttermere. Around a 30 minute drive from both. Across the road from bassenthwaite lake which was perfect to cool down in after an active day.
We stayed in room 25 which was delightful! Perfect for a family of four. Lovely little communal garden with a picnic bench. Easy parking. Staff lovely, and food was great! Will definitely return!

Amazing
GGuest UserIt’s a lovely spot with a fantastic view and a welcoming host. The breakfast was delicious, and the fireplace adds a cosy touch. Just keep in mind that being an older English house, it might not be as spotless as some other places.
DDarryl JonNice and peaceful stay at the hotel. The facilities were clean and the bed was very comfy
The only downside was the cleaner tried to enter my room in the morning without knocking
LLiana321The price of the homestay for more than 1,000 nights is very general. I went early and the boss was very unhappy. I opened a door and wore a nightgown and pulled my face. The booked breakfast was delivered to the door of the room on time. I had breakfast in the room. The food was toast butter juice jam was not an English breakfast; Mainly because it was too early to check out at ten o'clock, but we couldn't do it; the landlord's cat performance was 100, nice 🐈
