We had a perfect time at Eaglebay Retreat. It’s truly an undisturbed paradise. You have an entire house and hundreds of meters of coastline all to yourself. Every morning, you can wake up in the sunshine and decide whether to go snorkeling or just relax in the sun—you have the choice. The sunsets were always perfect, and experiencing them on a paddleboard is far better than being in a crowded place like KK.
At the same time, the retreat offers a wide range of activities that are both rich and reasonably priced—paddleboarding, jet skiing, kayaking, and more, so you’ll never feel bored.
During our stay, Arlyn and h is family provided us with everything we needed: they inflated our paddleboards, helped us arrange sea activities, climbed trees to pick coconuts for us, and prepared delicious meals. Whenever we needed them, they were always available, without intruding on our privacy. Their presence was always perfectly balanced.
I would also like to thank Faizal, who did a lot of work before our arrival, and Jamri, the kind lady who helped us recover our lost Apple Pencil during our stay. She assisted in finding it, came up with several ways to return it (considering Eaglebay Retreat’s remote location), and finally delivered it to my friend personally, asking for nothing in return. Your kindness will be remembered.
Yes, I think we would definitely recommend this place to our friends, and we will visit Eaglebay again in the future.
Had an absolutely fantastic two-day, one-night stay! The owner was incredibly welcoming and the staff even helped us take photos and played in the water with us. The room was very clean, and lying on the hammock net, feeling the sea breeze, was just heavenly. There's also KTV every night, which was a huge bonus. We got to try paddleboarding and snorkeling – everything was amazing!
The hotel's primary focus on Chinese guests is evident in its services and amenities, which are predominantly in Chinese. This should be clearly stated in the hotel description on the booking websites. The villa itself is well-maintained, spacious, and equipped with everything you need. The beds and linens are of good quality, the toiletries are nice, and the bathroom is modern and clean. The air conditioner is quiet, but the external unit is quite noisy. The exterior and garden are lovely and clean.
The breakfast buffet was subpar, with cold food and coffee that required guests to microwave (completely in Chinese) it themselves, which was also a major inconvenience. Yet, the variety and quality of food was good and tasty. The staff seemed indifferent to the lack of coffee and food, and the lady who came to ”check” on us only brought coffee when we asked. Overall, our stay was satisfactory, but this place definitely needs to improve its hospitality and guest service. Given the above this place is too overpriced.
The room was clean and tidy, and the service from the front desk and logistics ladies was very good.
The breakfast was simple, but there were staple meats, eggs and bread, and the staple meats were different for three days. There was a place on the balcony where you could wash your clothes by hand.
It was a pity that there was no kettle, only one stool, and the hot water was relatively small.
The hotel's location is great, and the environment is lovely. The facilities are comprehensive, and the room has good soundproofing. The style is minimalist, and the cleanliness is top-notch; there wasn't a speck of dust on the bedside table, very thoroughly cleaned.
The room was clean and tidy. We arrived at the hotel by boat, and the local people were so friendly and welcoming – it really boosted our mood! Staying right over the beautiful shallow sea, with a slide leading straight into the ocean from our door, made for an unforgettable trip to Malaysia!
i had problem during my check in process where they can't find my booking and the room was occupied by other visitors. i booked 4 months in advance but still they missed my book. and at first they cant help me out, and ask me to make a phone call to that trip.com. i was so disappointed at that time because is late at night, and i already paid for it in advance. But luckily one of the staff offered me to stay in another kind of room without any extra charges.
The hosts are wonderful, friendly people who made our stay comfortable. Our room was a small room with a bed, a table, air conditioning and a combined bathroom. The room is clean. You can order food delivery and it will be delivered fairly quickly, the food is delicious. You can buy coffee, tea, and drinks on site. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to the entrance to Hot Poring Springs, but they can give you a ride for free. There is a transfer to Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan. More expensive than Grab, but you can't call a Grab from there. Grab cost us 200 ringgit from Kota Kinabalu, the transfer back cost 300. Don't expect luxury from this place (or from others nearby). It's like visiting your grandmother in the village). Very soulful.
The bathroom smell cigarette. Hotel needs to inform all guests to not smoking inside the hotel room.

Overall, we were very happy and contented staying here. In fact, 1 night is not enough. The resort itself was mesmerizing with European style design. Also, don't worry about the cleanliness as the beds and bathrooms were spotless, not forgetting the kitchen! we got a whole kitchen area with full facilities! We had fun during our stay. Will definitely come again next time to enjoy the privacy and the beach as well as the sunset. It instantly becomes our favorite place to stay and of course for family gathering. Beautiful sunset I would say. They also provided various activities with different rates if you requested during your stay.
I had a lot of fun on this trip. Semporna is probably a small town. Without the bustling city, the scenery is indescribably beautiful. Everyone in the hotel is very welcoming. Although the newly renovated rooms are full, I saw that they were beautiful but I couldn't book them. The hygiene of our guest room was very good, and the Filipino maids took care of it very carefully. The overall atmosphere of the hotel was very happy and relaxing~ Especially the chef helped us prepare a seafood set meal that is only available on luxury cruise ships. The quality is really first-rate.
The front desk was very welcoming and the service was thoughtful. Check-in was quick. The room was clean and hygienic, with complete facilities. It was very convenient and highly recommended.
Loved it, loved it! The service was incredibly thoughtful, and the room amenities were super complete. The 24-hour butler was always ready to help with anything. And the location? Absolutely unbeatable, super close to the beach. Had such a blast, I really loved it.
This is a water villa with excellent value for money. It offers beautiful sunset views, crystal-clear water, and friendly staff, making it perfect for watching the sunset, stargazing, or simply relaxing. The hotel is clean, the service is excellent, and the breakfast is delicious. The 24-hour front desk staff speaks English, Malay, and Chinese, providing great assistance to guests. Opening the door reveals the Tiffany Blue sea. The water villas are clean and comfortable, the rooms are warmly designed, and the staff are friendly and attentive, offering assistance with everything from pick-up and drop-off to dining and itinerary planning. The food is fresh and delicious, and dining here offers stunning sea views. The overall experience far exceeded expectations.
MMonikaMy boyfriend and I always enjoy staying in hidden gems. This vegan, environmental friendly, family run resort was exactly what we were looking for. It’s a small and intimate property right on the beach. May I add... the beach stretches very far with no one in sight!
This resort is perfect for families and couples that want to have quality time with one another.
We will definitely come back here again, and recommend it to our friends and family.
