Enjoyed the stay. I came here with two friends and I stayed in a room by myself. Spacious and clean room even tho some touch up in the bathroom would be nice. Very friendly staff from the moment we checked in till we checked out. Lovely spa facilities. Beautiful hotel. Safe area as we walked to the city centre and back at different times. Quiet but safe.

We booked 2 nights for a relaxing spa weekend. Based on it being a spa hotel. We planned on staying in the hotel for the whole weekend.  When we arrived we were told there was no restaurant or bar we can use as it’s only used for events.  We then had some lunch in the spa cafe. Food was ok. Service was terrible.  We then went to the room as we were able to check in. The cleaner was still there. Very apologetic extremely polite and lovely. The room was absolutely wonderful. Large bedroom bathroom and living room.  We went out and found a pub for food. When we returned to relax in the room we found the party was directly below us and in full swing. Very loud and noisy and the smoking area was right outside our window. We called reception but they were fully booked. Glad to say it all stopped at midnight.  We went down to breakfast at 9.30. Not much left and the full breakfast was cold. When we questioned it we were just told”well it has been there since 7” it had just sat on the side in silver trays for 2.5 hours, no heat or option to reheat. It wasn’t edible.  We skipped breakfast that we paid for on the second day.  We then thought we would spend some time in the spa. Ha! Well the pool is small, no where to relax just a couple of plastic chairs, not a spa at all. It had a very small sauna and steam room. The jacuzzi didn’t work it was just a pool of cloudy water with a few bubbles.  Would not recommend. Seems it used to be and could be a wonderful place to be but has been taken over and lost its sole. Such a shame as the building and grounds are wonderful.  I have to add the cleaning staff and lady on reception were wonderful, welcoming and friendly.

I love Charlton house, it was really quirky. The way it has been styled is really unusual. It makes you feel like you're in a bit of a fantasy world with the little corridors and quirky little nooks and crannies. For me it fit the bill, it did the job that I needed but I understand for those people that do not get it on an offer and pay a lot of money to stay there I understand how they might say that it's a bit dirty a bit tired a bit grubby and needs a bit of TLC. There seemed to be one very sweet man that was running around doing pretty much everything and the rest of the staff were hidden behind doors or just not there. I'm not sure. There were staff present in the spa and they were lovely and helpful and kind. My little room was gorgeous and cute and cozy, and clean enough although tatty in places. For me I really had a nice day and I would definitely come back. The breakfast was extremely basic but I didn't have extremely high expectations, and I'm not really a breakfast person, so again it may not make the tick box for others but it did the job for me. The rooms in the main building are beautiful. A rare view. The restaurant is understaffed and the waiting time for breakfast is too long. If you don't rush, it will take at least an hour. Martin, the concierge, is very good. He helped us find a restaurant because most of the restaurants are closed on weekends. He also drove us there because he was afraid that we didn't know the mountain roads in Bath. The two restaurants he recommended are very delicious and trustworthy.

Small luxury hotel I feel relieved to see that it is SLH, but it is unusually understaffed. From check-in to dining in the restaurant, you have to wait, wait, wait. If you don’t understand English, please don’t come. Most of the employees look like college students who work part-time and cannot solve the problem alone. question. The restaurant and bar are good, the room is very big, you need to take the stairs to the first floor, and the bathroom is half a floor up. The swimming pool is small and there are many people. There is a sauna, but it was useless because the temperature was 30 degrees on the day of arrival. Charging the tram is also very funny. It took a long time to fully charge it.

Special thanks to Manager Emilia and the team at Holiday Express for making our stay wonderful. The hotel was spotless, the breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice, and the price was very reasonable. It’s a great place for families – our kids loved the swimming pool – and the bar was a nice extra for relaxing in the evening. Highly recommended and we’ll definitely return!

We stayed in a triple room and were delighted with the comfort and cleanliness. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was amazing - 2 of us had the full English and 1 had avocado, smoked salmon and poached egg on toast. There was also a selection of fresh fruit, yoghurt, juices, pastries, coffee and tea. All delicious. The location is superb, being very central.

We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. While the hotel is a bit old it has a charming character and offers a comfortable stay overall. Rooms were spacious , beds comfortable and the gardens surrounding the property created a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.

The rooms were spacious and well-lit, with a simple yet elegant decor. The beds were incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep without any disturbances. The hotel offered a wide range of amenities, from a fitness center to a swimming pool, from dining options to meeting rooms, all reflecting the hotel's high standards.

The hotel's location is excellent, just a few minutes' walk from the Roman Baths. This hotel directly pipes natural thermal water into the property, making it very convenient to take the elevator from your room down to the -2 level for a soak. However, guests only get free access to the hot springs during two time slots: 8:00-10:00 AM and 7:00-9:00 PM. Outside these hours, it costs £70, which is quite steep. There are three pools in total, plus a sauna and steam room. Overall, it's pretty good. One thing to note: the room and service fees were already paid through Ctrip. Upon check-in, a £100 deposit was taken. At check-out, the staff tried to charge a £10 service fee. If you haven't incurred any additional charges, you can refuse this unreasonable request.
