The room is nice, clean and tidy, and the service is friendly. It's just that the facilities in the application are not in accordance with the original.

We were looking for somewhere to stay in Bontang for a couple of nights. This was the only place that seemed to be available for the dates we wanted. Last time we were in Bontang was 21 years ago. The hotel is very much a sports resort/contractor accommodation type place. Bontang isn't really a tourist location hence the limited choices to stay. We were here for a particular reason so just needed a place to sleep while we were here. The best way to describe the hotel/rooms is 'typical Indonesian'. Everything worked but had seen better days shall we say. Didn't have any concerns regarding cleanliness or safety and the location is really pretty. It's a bit out of the way so you need your own transport or be prepared to pay the going rate for taxis etc. Breakfast is your usual Indonesian fare and there was plenty of variety. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Just one point to clarify, when I made the booking, it was stated that there isn't a front reception so phone ahead to establish how to check in beforehand. In practice, there IS a front reception, just as you would expect in any hotel, so there's no need to worry about what to do about checking in. If you arrived and there was nobody on the desk, someone would soon turn up once your presence was known. All staff that we came across were so polite and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. We would have been happy to stay for longer if we had the time.

Hotel was tired and staff are inexperienced in the hospitality industry. Room: stayed on 8th floor. Pillows had strong sweat smell and looked like they havent been changed in a while. Room decor was pretty basic with basic laminate flooring. In the bathroom there was complimentary shower gel and shampoo but when the bottles were pressed, it was very watery and seemed like the staff had simply topped it up with regular water. Room internet was also extremely poor and I gave up after half an hour of trying. Breakfast was a big spread but not of high quality. The bubur was lumpy. Fried chicken was tasteless (possibly indicating being frozen for some time) and the chefs cooking the indomie simply threw the noodle cake into a half filled water bath and did not stir or monitor the cooking resulting in half cooked indomie. Breakfast section also smelled like a massive cigarette factory as there were smoking sections. Upside: Great location as part of a mall development. There is a comfortable lounge in the lobby conducive to meetings and afternoon catchups. Staff at the lobby lounge were very pleasant and efficient and went out of their way to clear our cups quickly and take new orders. Always smiling. This hotel is a very stark contrast to the mercure semarang where we spent the previous night.

The hotel feels a bit old, but it's still clean. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from nearby, as well as night market snacks and spa services, all at very affordable prices.

The hotel in general is poorly maintained and not clean. Some of the toilets in the lobby area were out of order and dirty/stained. The sink in our 3 rooms were cracked in the middle and plastered to keep the slabs together, however the drainage water keeps on dripping down to our feet everytime we used the sink. The bedsheets, pillowcases were not freshly new when we checked in, all the safety lockers were not working after seeking help from the maintenance, and all the fridges in all 3 rooms were either broken or missing. The aircon in our rooms were working well, however,  the aircon at the breakfast area were not working. Other clienteles were trying to get the best sitting location near the air blowers provided. we ended up sitting next to an open doorway for breakfast to get some fresh morning breeze. Food selection were limited, and the local spread was somewhat not as tasty or as fresh as other local hotels we have stayed before. We can see that the hotel used to be a grand and beautiful place, it is just a shame to see such a majestic building as Tjokro has lost its sparkle..

⭐ Comfortable One-Night Stay in Berau We stayed at Mercure Berau for one night after returning from our diving trip in Maratua. After spending several days around the islands, it was great to have a comfortable hotel where we could rest and recharge before continuing our journey home. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious enough for a short stay. We especially appreciated having a proper hot shower and a comfortable bed after the diving trip. The hotel also made it easy for us to reorganise our luggage and get everything ready for our flights the following day. We only had a short time in Berau, but the stay was smooth and relaxing. It’s a convenient option for travellers using Berau as the gateway to Maratua, Derawan and the surrounding islands. A good place to spend the night before heading to the airport and flying back to Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur. Would stay here again for another Maratua diving trip! 🤿🌊✈️

Great location for business trips, very strategic and easy to access. The room was clean and comfortable, perfect for resting after meetings. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. Amenities were sufficient and everything worked well. Overall, a pleasant and convenient stay for business travelers. Would definitely consider staying here again.

This is the cleanest, most modern hotel in Samarinda. However, the restaurant's menu is quite limited, service at the lobby cafe is quite slow, and customer service is somewhat lacking. For those who prioritize facilities, this hotel is highly recommended. For those who frequently utilize in-house services, the Mercure Hotel in downtown Samarinda may be a better option.

Book the location because of the location, next to mall and use the gym. Facilities provided are all there, nothing to pick on. Especially love the gym location. the breakfast is great, love the coffee and tea brew in the 'sock'. Good selections. Staffs in front desk to fnb, etc are polite and kind. Room is of decent size, basic for the price paid. It is clean in general. The toilet needs serious renovation. Taps, showers are OLD, accumulated rust, layers of molds at back of sink. The shower walls are all dirty between grout lines. It is clearly years of accumulated dirt and moisture that cannot be removed anymore. It needs serious revamp. I should have taken pictures of the shower, afraid I didn't think of it.

The apartment fits the middle budget, the location is far from malls and places to eat, the cleanliness is quite good because the apartment is quite old and still needs more maintenance, including facilities that need to be improved and services that are still not optimal.
