I've stayed here about 5 or 6 times now, and every visit, the cleanliness is impeccable and the service is excellent. The staff's polite language and their commitment to ensuring guests never feel uncomfortable truly put me at ease.
This time, for the first time, I opted for a room-only stay as I wanted to enjoy a relaxing hot spring trip without any interference. (Previously, my best friend and I always chose plans with breakfast and dinner.)
This kind of stay is also very reasonable, and given the reliable service, I'll continue to choose Rantei for all my future visits to Akiu Onsen, rather than trying other inns.
Having just turned 60, I'm not sure how many more times I'll be able to visit...

If you've stayed at many Japanese onsen hotels, you'll find this one to be a bit rough around the edges in various aspects, and lacking in comparison. Of course, the price isn't too high, but I might prefer to spend a little more for a better stay. The buffet restaurant isn't very good, and there are a few really disappointing dishes.

It's so beautiful, situated on a cliff by the sea. Every room has a full sea view. Watching the sunrise in the morning is so beautiful. The seaside onsen has a beautiful view. It's so satisfying. The food is very delicious, both dinner and breakfast. The hotel helped victims of the 2011 tsunami and earthquake, and they survived the events very well. I would like to express my appreciation. I will definitely stay there again if I have the chance.

The old large hot spring hotel is well decorated, the lobby is beautiful, the koi is very beautiful, the room is very large, the hot spring is relatively lackluster, especially disappointed is the semi-buffet dinner, I have lived in many hot spring hotels with one berth and two meals, this one eats worse. The free shuttle bus from Sendai Station is good.

This hotel is perfect for road trips. It has a ski resort, an indoor hot spring, and a newly renovated outdoor hot spring. There is also a small library where you can relax and have children read books. The outdoor area has a foot bath and you can use the snow bags provided by the hotel free of charge.

This is a very large onsen ryokan. There's a free shuttle bus from Sendai Station directly to the hotel, but you need to book it in advance. The buffet dinner features king crab legs and made-to-order sushi, and the breakfast is also very good. If you don't use the shuttle, it's just a three-minute walk to the bus stop for a ride back to Sendai.

Unexpectedly grand hotel, especially when you first walk in the front entrance. Very traditional hotel with great service, remember to book your free transport to and from the Sendai train station. The hot spring experience is as expected - comfortable, cozy, clean and relaxing. Highly recommended. The included Dinner and breakfast buffets are great and aside from the typical western food, it served up some local delicacies which were really nice and authentic. Highly recommended place for anyone looking at a day or two to unwind and relax.

20231125 The room is huge, sleeping 6 people. From Sendai, take the Seibu Line and get off in front of the hotel, a 1-minute walk. It's a bit dark in the winter, with no streetlights, so you can't see the road. If you don't have dinner booked, there's a place on the 3rd floor where you can have simple ramen after 7pm.

I heard that many years ago, Sakkan had visited Ginsui-so, so I came here because of its reputation. Seeing is believing. The decoration of the lobby is really elegant and Japanese. There is a welcome drink of coffee or tea from 16:00 to 18:00, but I think it is too monotonous. It should be added with a piece of biscuit or fruit. The layout of the room is also very good. It is very comfortable for 4 people to live in. The pillows and quilts all have the smell of the sun, which I like. Dinner is a mini buffet with staple food, but it is not too small. There are many and exquisite dishes. Not to mention the hot springs, one of which is right by the river, which is a rare experience. I think my personal impression of Sakkan is very good.
