Team (reception, dining area, bistro/bar, passing through the SPA-Nature, without forgeting all the staff that organize the rooms), sympathetic, c/ permanent availability. The diet of one of us (Vegan) with the making of very pleasant dishes. You won a fan! Most pleasant rooms and spas. Recommendation back room (+ quiet). For a extended weekend to visit the Star Serra is optimal.

Very good service at check in, standard room, fantastic breakfast with nothing to point out, very good quality restaurant, super pool bar service, an animator always attentive, fun, friendly and with ”aqua” animation in the morning and afternoon gin”, live music some afternoons and to end the disco night to dance and relax.

We stayed here because we heard that the spa was interesting. And it is -it's presented in a fun way with caves and pools and very good saunas, steam rooms and showers, though it has more of a fun holiday atmosphere than a truly restorative 'serious' Spa. We stayed at the hotel and the room was comfortable. Most if the staff were friendly, and the quality of the food was great, the buffet breakfast deserves a special mention because there is EVERYTHING on offer - really excellent. Tarnishing the experience a bit was the fact that we met one waiter who essentially flounced off because we said we couldn't speak Portuguese, and could be heard mockingly (and quite loudly) echoing us by saying 'we don't speak Portuguese' to his colleague. The colleague then dutifully came over and served us very politely and pleasantly in English, but we were left feeling a bit unwanted and out of place to be honest -its simply nit feasible to speak every language! So, a bit of a mixed bag but definitely worth a try if you're in the area.

The Pousada Serra da Estrela is a fairy-tale hotel in the middle of the mountains with magnificient views towards Covilha. We had a splendid stay in this magnificient hotel. The rooms are wide and comfortable, the people at the reception desk are very helpful (special mention for Xavier Pérez), and the people at the bar are also kind and ready to help. Breakfasts are superb. Nothing wrong about this magnificient place.

We have returned from a 20 day stay at the Rupestre Arts Hotel Ródão. We used the hotel as a base to explore central Portugal. The hotel itself is recently built and our observations and impressions are as follows; good facilities, clean and well run, the staff were engaging, friendly and immensely helpful throughout our stay. Although being a “new build” the hotel has character, in no small part, down to the staff and the support from the locals, the food was excellent and all in all we would highly recommend it.

What a wonderful place to stay, I had stayed here before with friends on a Moto Tour so knew what to expect, my expectations were surpassed, it’s a really lovely place to stay. On this trip I was with my wife, I had talked up Convento Da Serta before arrival and we both agreed the out of 9 good hotels on our Spain & Portugal Tour this was the best by far. * Chaves as a town has character, charm and is very pleasant to walk around. * Convento Da Serta, is in a prime position, elevated above the old town * There are good bars and restaurants within easy walking distance * The hotel itself is a charming and a very well adapted stone built Convent, there is a small pool, easy parking on site, the rooms are excellently appointed with good views over the town some have small private balconies all have Air Con. The staff are very attentive and both eager to please and keen to help you get the best out of your stay at the hotel and the area surrounding the town if you have time to explore. * Breakfast service was freshly prepared, presented well and staffed to cope with the demand, the food itself was very good. * The restaurant recommendations were spot on we chose one that was recommended it was lovely (see separate review, for Ponte Romano)

Fomos para Monfortinho porque já conhecíamos as termas e adorámos. Procurámos ficar o mais próximo possível das termas e decidimos experimentar o Hotel Fonte Santa. Ficámos muito desiludidos com as comodidades. Os colchões não são confortáveis, pois à muito tempo que não acordava com dores no corpo como na primeira noite que dormi lá. As zonas de lazer no interior do hotel, precisam de recuperar todos os sofás e cadeirões, pois já estão muito ”cansados”. Não tínhamos ar condicionado, as camas não estavam preparadas para o calor, pois ainda tinham capas com edredons de inverno. As temperaturas eram de verão. Passámos uma noite horrível cheios de calor. O telefone do chuveiro precisa ser substituído. No meu entender qualquer hotel ou alojamento que se preocupa com o bem estar dos hóspedes tenta ir de encontro às necessidades do momento em qualquer estação do ano. Nem todos gozam férias no verão...mas todos precisamos da devida atenção! Contudo há aspectos positivos a realçar. O ambiente do hotel é de forma geral, tanto no interior como no exterior, calmo, sossegado, ideal para quem precisa de descansar a mente. No espaço exterior ao hotel, possui vários locais onde se pode passar bons momentos, relaxar na relva, ouvir o som de vários pássaros, fazer caminhadas. O pequeno almoço é bom e farto, tem de tudo um pouco, para os vários gostos. Não utilizamos o restaurante do hotel, porque também não nos foi proposto a sua utilização, acabamos por fazer as refeições num restaurante perto, ” O ERGES”, com pratos simples e económicos, mas muito bem servidos e com bom atendimento. Resumindo como costumo dizer ”Há sempre uma primeira vez, que muitas vezes é também a última”, é o caso da estadia neste hotel.

Our stay at the Cerca Design Hotel has exceeded all expectations. There is great sympathy and efficiency in a super friendly and familiar environment. The meals are of great quality and variety. The facilities are very beautiful and nothing is missing. The price/quality ratio is excellent. It is quite clear to repeat!

Very nice hotel by the Castelo Branco city. Great views, extremely comfortable rooms and good price. Very nice and varied breakfast. The hotel also provides swimming pool, gym, sauna and steam room facilities. Staff was friendly. Park facilities.

It is a fair 4*, located on the hill with views to the Cabril (Rio Zêzere). Well-dimensioned rooms, XXL ...where only one lacked Coolbox ... There are essentially two types of rooms: with view to garden/pool and dam including a large balcony and rooms with views p/ back. Inside, both similar. Then there is a magnificent outdoor pool and gardening areas ...e a Spa with indoor pool c/ hairdryer, Jacuzzi, Turkish bath and sauna, gym and, tb massages by marking. The restaurant room is also a beautiful, wide and beautiful view, where breakfast is also served, very well-composed. I visited early March 2024 and of course in winter you cannot enjoy plenty ...but inside everything runs normally, with regard to cleaning nothing to observe and with sympathetic employees and professionalism q.b. (unlike some negative criticisms that I had already read ... that were not plausible with what I personally observed!) Conclusion: A recommended hotel unit where it makes sense to congratulate more than simply the view, which is superb and worth visiting and enjoying ... also remembering the numerous trails of the area (pedestrians, bikes and jipes ...There is at least one company in this activity ...)

Had to stop in the mountains during our Portuguese road trip and couldn’t find a more ideal and apropos location. Serra da Estrela is the highest mountain range in Continental Portugal and this delightful cabin sits atop of the mountain overlooking the quaint city of Covilha. The views are sweeping and stunning, right from the armchair in your living room. This place sleeps 8 or more, but we enjoyed it as a romantic retreat for just the two of us. It’s kitted out beautifully with a pellet burning stove as the heat source, much sought after laundry facilities and all the comforts one could ask for, with stylish panache. The location is fantastic, with great restaurants and bars within steps of your front door. We hadn’t heard of Portuguese ski country until we planned this epic trip and would encourage anyone to add it to their list of stopovers whist in this fine country. It was especially fun to visit in January to see how Portugal’s local population enjoys winter within their own borders. It was a great location to visit the historical Piódão as a daytrip and the driving the area offers countless gob-smacking vistas, as well. It’s a wonderful chance to see another side of this fine country and sample the local sheep’s cheese, rustic food specialties and cozy attire that’s exclusive to this unique area. The beds were cozy and comfortable, and the views from every aspect of the cabin, unparalleled. Both bathrooms and the kitchen were immaculate, offered all amenities, and were tastefully presented. In fact, there were many aspects we didn’t have an opportunity to enjoy, like the stone BBQ in the backyard, or the sprawling lounge areas – but we could imagine many large groups enjoying all it had to offer. The only area for improvement would be the arms-length connection with the host. For example, we were directed to pick up our key at reception at the unaffiliated hotel across the street. They claimed no knowledge leaving us with only the sporadic Airbnb chat mechanism to connect with the owner. As my husband and I experienced severe heart palpitations, we re-grouped to weigh our options, having no place to stay in the area, despite having paid upfront. Only then did the woman call us back giggling that she had the key after all, having misplaced it. Glad it worked out but - yikes! We tried to make reservations at the local restaurants in advance, but that proved impossible, so we asked the host to book on our behalf. He informed us that no reservations were required. That simply wasn’t true, leaving us scrambling for our meals in this tiny location. We had Portuguese only instructions for the pellet stove, but muddled through and managed to get our one heating source operating in -5 degrees, never-the-less. All of this worked out in the end, but made it a bit harder to relax, which was the point of our stay. All in all, we really were delighted our stay, despite some noteworthy hiccups. Location, service and restaurant is excellent, but the hotel structure, in particular the quite old and noisy room, has some variety of breakfast but does not regularly rest.

The best thing about this hotel: its location in the Serra da Estrela. It is relatively close to the Torre where the only ski resort in Portugal is located; and to Lagoa Comprida from where it is a 2.5 hour walk (each way) to covão dos conchos (the famous hole in the Serra da Estrela). Second best: the breakfast: fresh orange juice, and plenty of choices. Reservations must be made for breakfast and dinner. There is a restaurant in the hotel called Restaurante Medieval. €25 per person for a generous buffet. The parking lot is ample. The internet is ast. They rent ATVs for tours of the Serra. The downside: We asked for a room for three people. We were assigned a suite with a double bed, but the other bed was temporary, the mattress was very uncomfortable and very small. So, if you go more than two people, we recommend you to book two rooms.

Excellent location, excellent recuperation of a XVI Franciscan convent with really nice and very helpful staff. The rooms are very spacious and well kept, the front office impeccable from the reservation over the phone, the check-out. They provided a lot of informations on te surrounding area. The bar and restaurant staff was great and very friendly, light dinner was very good, even he chef came out to ask if all was fine. Breakfast is really good. The indoor and outdoor pool were great (some minor details on the indoor pool need attention) the gym simple but well kept. We really enjoyed our stay and the kindness of the staff. You feel the staff is really proud to work there. We can only recommend it.
