I brought my friends here and randomly found a restaurant. I didn't expect the food to be so good. Many dishes are very authentic, and the copper pots are awesome. The bowl holders are also refreshing and delicious. Overall it's good.

Upon arriving in Pingyao Ancient Town, I was immediately recommended Xilaiyao, a 20-year-old establishment. Shanxi truly deserves to be called the "Carb Capital." Many staples here are served a la carte, and the portions are enormous. I strongly recommend ordering a set meal with 1-2 servings reduced based on the number of people you're eating. Otherwise, you won't be able to finish the food... at all! 🌳 Restaurant Environment: The restaurant has an antique feel, divided into a front and back courtyard. It looks like a renovated ancient building. The back courtyard has outdoor seating, and the front courtyard is two stories high. 🍜 Dishes include: Fried Pork, Sweet and Sour Meatballs, Grilled Pork Belly, Fish with Oat Noodles, Bowl Holder, Stir-fried Beef Bun, Roujiamo (Chinese roujiamo), Scrambled Eggs with Aged Vinegar, Pork Head, Dumpling Soup, Pingyao Beef, and more. Every dish was a hit. The sweet and sour meatballs were the softest, most flavorful, and fluffy of all the places I've tried in Shanxi. The pork head was also good and went away in seconds. The scrambled eggs with aged vinegar were unique, with a texture similar to dried tofu. I couldn't stop eating them. The free oil tea for checking in was also special: a sweet, whole-grain porridge that was so nourishing. The staff were also very nice, sharing the historical stories and cooking methods of each dish and even personally preparing our own oil tea. 👍 I highly recommend this place to everyone visiting Pingyao! 💗

This time I visited Pingyao Ancient City and found a great Shanxi restaurant in the ancient city - Xilaiyao Jincai. As soon as I entered the door, I could feel the strong Shanxi style. The environment in the store was clean and tidy, and the service staff were very enthusiastic. From the moment I entered the door, I felt at home. Speaking of dishes, it was really a must! As a famous Shanxi dish, the fried pork is quite authentic. The meat slices are tender, the side dishes are crisp, and the salty and fragrant taste is just right. It is full of freshness and fragrance. The long dragon eggplant has a unique shape, a soft and sweet taste, and tastes unique. The eight-treasure beef kuoluoluo is even more amazing. The soft and glutinous kuoluoluo is filled with fragrant beef fillings, and every bite is super satisfying. There is also yellow rice jelly, which is soft, glutinous and sweet. Dipped in a special sauce, it is refreshing and refreshing. It is perfect as a dessert after a meal. In short, this meal at Xilaiyao Jincai not only allowed us to taste the authentic Shanxi delicacies, but also felt the full sincerity of the store.
