MMengxiaoyuExcellent Value for Money Hotel in Xi'an | Sheraton Xi'an North City Hotel
After comparing several hotels for my trip to Xi'an, I finally chose the Sheraton Xi'an North City Hotel. My stay of several days far exceeded my expectations. As a long-standing five-star hotel, its excellent location, attentive service, and solid facilities make it an ideal base for exploring Xi'an, and have left me with an even greater appreciation for the Sheraton brand.
đşď¸ Location: This was the primary reason for my choice. It's right next to Longshouyuan Station on Metro Line 2, and it's less than a 1-minute walk from Exit B directly to the hotel lobby. This means no more lugging heavy suitcases around. For tourists visiting Xi'an, this metro line is a game-changer. You can reach the Bell Tower and Muslim Quarter in just two stops, and travel to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Xi'an City Wall, and North Railway Station without any transfers, avoiding Xi'an's infamous rush hour traffic jams.
Within a few minutes' walk of the hotel, you'll find shopping malls like Longshou Impression City and Rongmin Longshou Plaza, offering a wide array of dining and shopping options. There's also the Longshouyuan Night Market nearby, perfect for an evening stroll to experience authentic Xi'an street life and sample various local snacks. The convenience for both travel and daily life is superb.
𪴠Ambiance: The guest rooms have the classic feel of an established hotel, with a steady and grand style that differs from the trendy designs of 'influencer' hotels. However, the space is very generous and well-planned, so it never feels cramped. My room had excellent natural light, and the bedding was standard Sheraton quality with a mattress that was just right â neither too soft nor too hard, offering great support. The soundproofing in the room was excellent, ensuring a good night's sleep.
đ Facilities: The bathroom area features a separate wet and dry zone. The toiletries are the exclusive Sheraton brand, gentle and replenished promptly. The shower had excellent water pressure and stable temperature, making for a comfortable experience. The room offered ample space for work and storage, and amenities like the TV, lighting, and power outlets were well-maintained and functioned smoothly without any issues.
đ Dining: The dining experience is a huge plus for this hotel, easily rivaling specialized restaurants outside. The breakfast buffet offers an incredibly rich variety of Chinese and Western dishes. What truly impressed me was the dedicated Shaanxi specialty counter. The freshly baked *baijimo* (flatbread) with *larou* (braised pork) was crispy outside and tender inside, with the *larou* perfectly marbled and flavorful. Shaanxi snacks like *yangrou shuipen* (lamb soup), *saomian* (noodles with gravy), and *hulatang* (spicy soup) were authentically prepared, easily comparable to popular street food stalls. Starting my Xi'an journey with such an authentic Shaanxi breakfast filled me with immense happiness.
The Executive Lounge experience was also excellent. The afternoon tea and happy hour offered a wide range of food, with rotating hot dishes, exquisite desserts, and fresh fruits. Plus, there was an unlimited supply of Xi'an's local specialities like Bingfeng soda and plum juice. The staff were prompt in refilling drinks and clearing plates, and their attitude was gentle, making it a very relaxing place to unwind.
The hotel's Chinese restaurant consistently delivers high-quality dishes. Both the Shaanxi cuisine and home-style dishes were authentic and made with fresh ingredients, making it suitable for both casual gatherings with friends and family meals.
đ Service: The hotel team is attentive, thoughtful, and just right. During check-in, the front desk staff were highly efficient, proactively asking about room preferences and patiently explaining nearby attractions and transportation routes. For various members, room upgrades and benefit redemptions were handled smoothly, without any perfunctory or negligent behavior. Room cleaning was thorough and tidy, with items neatly arranged. The turndown service was meticulous, with staff thoughtfully providing extra drinking water and reminding guests about things to note during their travels, adding a personal touch.
đď¸ Swimming & Fitness: The gym on the fifth floor is well-equipped with a full range of cardio and strength training machines, all well-maintained. The space is bright and airy, and water and towels are provided, making both morning and evening workouts comfortable. The indoor heated pool has clean water, a comfortable temperature, and ample space, making it a great place to relax and alleviate travel fatigue.
đ Of course, the hotel does have a few minor drawbacks. Due to its age, some of the soft furnishings and facilities in the public areas show a slight sense of history, lacking a bit of modern flair. However, this doesn't affect normal use at all, and the hotel's daily maintenance is excellent, keeping everything clean and tidy without any feeling of dilapidation.
𼰠The Sheraton Xi'an North City Hotel is an incredibly cost-effective five-star hotel. It doesn't rely on flashy gimmicks but has won over countless guests with its superb location, comfortable rooms, authentic cuisine, and warm service. Whether for leisure or business travel, it meets all needs, allowing guests to easily visit Xi'an's major attractions while enjoying attentive service and experiencing the convenience and comfort of the ancient capital. If I return to Xi'an, this will undoubtedly be my top choice for accommodation, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to all my friends visiting Xi'an â choosing this hotel will certainly not disappoint you.
