Romantic Hotels in Yunnan, China

Location was great: Within Lijiang Ancient City and just a 5-min walk to the main road. Stayed during winter season and was glad to know that hot water was consistent. Room was cleaned up daily in the 4 days we stayed there to explore Lijiang and the surrounding areas. Breakfast provided was hearty with a good variety. Reception area is also conveniently located beside a cafe so you can also enjoy a cuppa over breakfast. Shoutout to the staff who were friendly and responded to our queries in a timely manner. They also helped to link us up to a local tour agency that helped us out with a Jade Dragon Snow Mountain day-trip which we thoroughly enjoyed. This was despite us not having a local Chinese number and only having WeChat as the only communication tool. All in all, really enjoyed our stay here at Songzhuju (松竹居) and will recommend it to my friends and family who are looking to explore Lijiang.

Very convenient location about a 1-minute walk from Sifang Square. The main Wuyi Street is a short walk north, and the other big street Qiyi is a short walk south. Room was clean and the staff very helpful. No English is spoken, but I speak some Chinese and the staff can add you on wechat to communicate and share locations. The staff upgraded me, and the room was nice, clean and quiet—despite the very central location. Location could be a bit hard to find the first time, but the Trip.com app opened up Baidu maps for me and led me straight to one of the hotel entrances, though it wasn’t the main one (was just 10m west of the main one). I called the number and the staff guy came right over, so no problem. Other reviewers also say the staff can come guide you over, so you could also try that.

I have stayed in many hotels in Shangrila old town over the past 12 years so have a little experience. Location: Close to the top dancing square but at the top of a very steep hill. It had rained so the stone street was VERY slippery. It is close to impossible to walk up the hill with suitcase. There is a 1/2 meter wide ***** of carpet that was laid down on the right side of the road going up the hill. It gave great traction, but unfortunately some non-thinking person had parked their electric cart directly on top of the carpet so you could not navigate it. I arrived at 6 PM and that electric cart was still sitting on the carpet in the same place the next morning at 9 AM. Trying to walk around the electric cart , but I did slip and fell to the ground. I would not come back to this hotel again, if there was any potential for any rain. The picture is of the morning after the rain had dried. When I booked my room, they did tell me that there was only one room remaining and it was for four people. I was solo but I booked it anyway. Unfortunately, I did not understand that there are four beds that are actually side-by-side touching each other. They are very very thin pads laid on top of a wooden platform. No way to get into or out of any bed without crawling back to the foot of the bed and going over the edge that way. It was the hardest sleeping service I have ever been on and got very little sleep. If I had my sleeping bag and camping mattress, I would’ve just slept on the floor. Won’t be back here again. The service people at the hotel were very nice. Offered to carry my bag up to my room on the third floor and the woman who provided the breakfast in the morning was very pleasant. Have no complain about the service just the beds in the access to the hotel. If it’s raining, make it a no go for me 

Located near the center of Dayan old town where have a lot of music bar, stores but it’s still quiet at night. The room was decorated by old chinese style. The owner is super friendly and supportive. He gave us the detailed intruction to the old town then picked up us at the old toơn’s gate and rent a tricycle to carry our baggages. He also invited us Chinese tea and gave the water bottles as much as he can. So please dont buy water in outside stores, the owner will be upset 😜

The location is very close to all the major shopping areas. There is central heating but not temperature is not too warm. The bedroom has a wall that shield you from the bathroom. Minor drawback is the electric outlet in the bathroom and desk area not practically located. The better walk to the hotel is from Dongfeng Guangchang metro station.

Hotel with amazing breakfast, personal was very kindly with us, in speciak Gavin who helped us in everything we needed. Of course i will come back if I am in Kunming.

Host is very friendly, she offered to help us bring in our luggage so it's easier for us to walk in. It's inside 古城 the walkway is too much for us luggage wheels. The room that that we got has heated blanket and heater ”thank God” otherwise will be super cold. Highly recommended ;)

I had such a great stay at Lanyun Inn. Upon arriving at this quiet and comfortable Inn, I was immediately impressed by how spacious and inviting my room was. It came with heated floors, a comfortable bed, hot water, great wifi, and very convenient location. I got the best sleep here throughout my entire stay in China. I'm not sure if the girl working the front desk is the owner or not, but she is so nice. She helped me bring my bags to my room, answered any questions I had, and took me to the airport at 6am - no questions asked! I have to say the hospitality at Lanyun Inn is some of the best I've come across throughout my travels. Thank you so much for making my stay so great and I highly recommend staying here!

Hidden gem (stay) found in Dali! The interior and exterior of the b&b was superb, with a lake at the patio and several seats to chill on! The room was very cozy, equipped with all required amenities (with a Dyson hairdyer!). Balcony view overlooking the patio was also great, with a sneak peek of mountain. Location of the b&b was really good too, with a short 7 minutes walk to Dali Ancient City. The place was quiet, with eateries and convenient store nearby. It was quiet at night as compared to stays in Ancient City where they will be some tourist crowd. Overall, GOOD!

one of my favourite stays of all time!!! staff were super friendly and helpful, they assisted in booking tours for us to Yulong Snow Mountain and Tiger Leaping Gorge. they also checked in with us regularly to ensure that we were doing fine on the tours. because the tours set off early, they prepared bread and milk for us to snack on - which was super, super thoughtful. the homestay is located in the ancient city. though it may be tiring to climb to get to, the view was worth it. we could see yulong snow mountain and the entire ancient city. it was a fantastic stay and it made us fall in love with lijiang so much. thank you for making us feel so at home, i strongly recommend staying here if you are coming to lijiang!!

We really like this Inn. It is located on the mountain in Lijiang old town with a nice view over the city. Perfect location! We got a free upgrade to a bigger room because it was available at the time. The room is clean and looks very nice, we love it. The staff is very caring and helpful. They help you to find all important locations and even walk with you if needed. They have contacts with a travel agency to book different activities. The staff does not speak English but they try their absolute best with translation apps and we always figure things out together. Food is wonderful here, they have their own restaurant in the Inn and the food is the best I've had traveling through China. Breakfast is simple but delicious. We were first planning to stay for only one night, but extended it to three nights because we like it here.

Pros: This is a good hotel for a family! My son loves the animal feeding activities. The view at the tea house is amazing. The hotel has their own game room, convenient store, etc. They have many restaurants and taste delicious!! Breakfast has lots of choices and starts early. The expat manager/supervisor woman was really nice, friendly, helpful and accommodating! Thank you! Cons: 1. The front desk/reception. They need to be more welcome and friendly. They were snobbish, not welcome and can’t really speak english (its a chain hotel, hyatt hotel!). We were just about to checked in and were greeted with those frown, if only we havent paid the room we were thinking to move to pullman instead. 2. Book for mountain view room, but they gave us no mountain view. we have to ask to move to other room. 3. We got the room we want, but i think they havent clean the room for awhile, the floor is filthy. 4 if only there is no time schedule to see the alpaca since some people already has their plans for the day and the time schedule might not be fit with guest itineraries. Or they can give us the hotel schedule once we booked the hotel so we can work on our itineraries before check in. Conclusion: we really enjoyed our stay. Other staffs beside the front desk are nice and friendly. Might come back if they improve the front desk ladies.

We truly enjoyed staying at the Banyan Tree resort. We took twice a bike to Shuhe, the ancient town. We like this ancient town so much better than Lijiang. We also took a taxi to watch the impressions of Lijiang show in the mountains and see the Blue Moon Valley. Thanks to Nancy, who was always available when we had questions, even on her days off we could count on her. And William who is experienced and very good in English language helped us make the day to see the show an unforgettable day. Kate was able to show us around and give us advice where needed. Very few speak English and the help of William and Nancy and Kate made the stay very special. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the own private hot tubs very much.

Today I must praise the homestay I stayed in Lijiang. The moment I stepped into the homestay, it was as if I had entered a peaceful and beautiful world. From the exquisite courtyard design to the decorations full of ethnic characteristics, every detail shows a unique charm. The room is clean and comfortable, with complete facilities, and the bedding is soft and skin-friendly, allowing people to enjoy the most peaceful sleep during a tiring journey. The service of the homestay is even better. The staff is warm and friendly, just like a friend who has not seen each other for a long time. Whether it is travel consultation or daily small needs, you can get a timely and thoughtful response. Here, you can really feel the warmth of home. The beauty of Lijiang plus this awesome homestay is simply a perfect travel experience

I would like to put 100 stars for the owner who helped me a lot for my first time in China alone. Even if i cannot speak Chinese, the owner still talk with me on Wechat and answer my question so quickly. The room is clean and big enough. The courtyards are nice and the rooftop is good location for take a picture with old town. i recommend who looking for hotel in Lijiang.

Environment: If the score is full 💯, I can give it 200 points. For details, you can see the pictures I uploaded. Except for the first picture, which has a filter that has been adjusted, the others are all original pictures. The balcony of the room faces the snow-capped mountains. When you wake up, you will see the Rizhao Jinshan Mountain. It is very nice and the view is unparalleled🤩 Facilities: Very complete. There is a gym, parent-child playground, bar, microwave, etc. in the lobby; there are ambient lights and humidifiers in the room, and the TV owner has also logged in as a member, so you can watch TV as you like! But there are two shortcomings: one is that the room is too big, the heating effect of the air conditioner is low, and sometimes it stops automatically (should it be running continuously for too long?); the other is that the water pressure and water temperature are relatively average, and the water temperature rises slowly (personally I prefer strong water pressure, which makes me feel comfortable haha😏) Health and service: Very clean and excellent service. The lady boss is from Cantonese. If you have similar tastes, you can ask the lady boss where to eat. The biggest flaw of this B&B is that it is far away from the ancient city, but the B&B provides a shuttle service to the ancient city, which is perfect~😆

I would honestly stay in this hotel for its service. The staffs and bosses there are very welcoming and would answer any and every question I have thrown at them. They have helped me to book tickets to the surrounding attraction and helped me with transportation there, making commutation a lot easier in such a big place. Additionally, the view from the rooftop is impeccable as the location itself is quite near to the mountainous area providing a breath taking view of the clear sky and mountain. Would love to go there again

As foreigners and traveling over the mid autumn festival in China for the first time to Dali, we could not be more impressed by the welcoming and service we got from the hotel. As we arrived we were welcomed with some lovely snacks and coffee as they booked us into our lake view room. There was a lady named Lynne who spoke English that assisted us in anything we needed. The staff made sure we were well looked after. They even went over and beyond for my partners birthday while we were staying in the hotel. We had lovely communication with the staff through wechat and whenever we needed anything or wanted to ask for help we could just message and they would assist us immediately with a smile.

This hotel is a collection of Shuanglang Hotel Center that I have always wanted to visit. I was not disappointed. The view is very good. The store is also very enthusiastic. There are free afternoon teas every day. There are many car rentals nearby. Within 10 minutes walk of Shuanglang Town, There are also many food choices. The point is that you can also order takeaway. When you left, the boss filled two bottles of water and presented melon seeds. After staying in so many hotels, the environment and service of Cang Yue Qiong Building can definitely score more than 90 points. I have already consulted the boss and plan to bring my family back again during the Chinese New Year.

When traveling with my mother, I arranged a twin room on the first floor to save on climbing stairs. It's very comfortable to sleep in the quiet alley outside the ancient city. Stable, air-conditioned bath heaters, electric blankets and slippers are provided. A long wooden shelf and two bedside tables are used to store daily necessities under the wall-mounted TV. Clothes and bags can be placed on the tatami, and two boxes can be spread out on the floor space. The water from the water heater heats up very slowly. Let’s wait for the water to heat up before taking off your clothes while taking a shower. The air conditioner heats up very quickly.

The hotel is strategically located, less than ten minutes' walk from the ancient city of Dali. The front desk clerk Ruizi Xiaoguliang is warm and thoughtful and has a good service attitude. She arranged a quiet room. The room is not big but has a reasonable layout and does not seem crowded. I stayed for two days and the second time I encountered unqualified neighbors that day. They moved furniture around 3 o'clock at night, made loud noises, and knocked on doors. I called the front desk, and the front desk tried hard to communicate before things became quiet. After checking out in the morning, the car was blocked by unqualified people again. I didn’t leave my phone number in the car, so the front desk clerks on duty on the morning of the 24th were actively looking for people stuck in traffic jams. Hey! Meeting unqualified people is really... Atour's waiters are still as serious and responsible as ever. Although I have encountered so many troubles, I still have to give Atour's waiters five points.

There is a man who rents eMules at the door of the hotel. If you want to rent, you must negotiate. We rented it at 4 o'clock in the afternoon for 40 a day. We defaulted that this day is 24 hours a day until 4 o'clock the next day, but it is not true. The man will not I gave you the charger. When you returned the car to charge it at night, he refused to recognize it the next day, saying that one day was just for that day. After fighting for a while, he was willing to give us another car that was not so good. Except Other than that it's all fun

The service was excellent from start to finish. The owner contacted us and added our WeChat. They paid the taxi from the railway station, drove us to get Covid tests, and then dropped us off again at the railway station for a small fee of 50RMB at the end of our stay. Breakfast was traditionally Chinese, but it was fine. The owner also let us try the various tea that she displayed and sold in the lobby area. It was cool and something we hadn’t really done before. Nothing was ever too much hassle and although our Chinese is quite minimal the owner always went out of her way to assist and help us. The location is a short walk to the ancient town, which was perfect! Erhai Lake is a 30RMB tuktuk from the ancient gate and is a beautiful area to cycle around. Would highly recommend to friends!

It's a walkable area but the area is incredibly expensive for China. If you're an expat, You should know some things...like 1st of all it's incredibly far from the train station about an hour and a 1/2. Secondly I don't think that the price for the queen suite is fair. I don't know what I can say but it was more expensive than a 4 mandarin grand carlton in other areas of China. While it was nice, the price doesn't reflect what you get. I'd stay here again, for sure, if I was going back to the area, but I would book one of their cheaper rooms. Service was great, but we got here (yes they tried to contact me in advance, but I don't speak much Chinese) and it was quite a puzzle in figuring how to get to the actual hotel. Luckily someone from another hotel was able to help. Once they knew we were here, they shuttled our luggage to the hotel and carried it to our rooms. The people working here are wonderful, but the area is very expensive and room prices for the queen suite are WAY more than you will get elsewhere in China.
