It was my first time booking an apartment for my family stay.
Staff from Fuju Homestay were most helpful even before we started our stay at their property. They were most proactive in briefing and guiding us of the check-in procedures as well as directional and travel options to R&F from CIQ.
A little challenge I faced was retrieving the key card from the mail box. No fault of theirs, just my bad eyesight doesn't work well with small size numbers and glare from the lights in the mail box room didnt help much.
Upon entering our unit, we were greeted by a very prestine clean condition of the place. The place is very well kept and clean. We had a minor issue with the fan remotes, Fuju staff was extremely fast in their response (faster than calling 999, haha...) Though we didn't manage to resolve the issue, it was still a pleasant and enjoyable stay.
Just some comments for improvement would be the labelling for the soap and shampoo. Was a little too small and almost blended in with the background of the tiles. They also have the most interesting bidet spray I've ever come across. Took me awhile to figure out how it really works.
Hopefully the surrounding areas of the building will improve quickly. Not much amenities but grabbing around was still convenient. I wish we had more time to explore other parts of the property. We're looking forward to booking another stay there for our next visit. Many thanks to the staff who attended our fan remotes issue, unfortunately forgot to get his name. His help was much appreciated. Overall a very good experience and definitely worth returning for future visits.
P/S: Could not upload the video on how to use the bidet spray. Will post on my Google review if possible.

Had a great stay at Holiday Inn Johor Bahru City Centre for the 2nd time! Staff were friendly and the room was comfortable. Location is super convenient too.
One concern though - the lift access to guest floors felt a bit too open. Anyone can press the button and get up to the floors, even with the card reader being overridden. Feels like a safety risk, especially in a busy city centre hotel. Hope they look into beefing up security for guests' peace of mind.
Overall, would still recommend - but hope they address this!”

This hotel is located right on the Johor Strait, and from my room, I had a great view of the bridge connecting Malaysia and Singapore. Both the room and the bathroom were spacious and comfortable. The buffet breakfast was also excellent and plentiful. It's a grand hotel with a impressive feel, yet it's very well-managed. A tall young man at the front desk was particularly helpful; he even spoke Chinese, which made communication very smooth. Since the hotel is quite large, I wasn't sure where to park, and he personally escorted me to the parking lot behind the hotel. That was a really thoughtful gesture, and I'd like to express my gratitude to him here!

Stayed at this guesthouse for three days and two nights, and overall it was pretty good. The lobby is spacious, and the sea view is fantastic. The room had all the basic amenities. Upon arrival, we picked up the keys from the guesthouse management office right by the entrance. There's an outdoor pool in the building, and a beach downstairs, though you can't swim there. On the first day, the kids even found some rare marine creatures on the beach!

Overall, my experience was fantastic. The hotel's location is super convenient, with plenty of dining and shopping options nearby, making getting around a breeze. The room itself was spotless and cozy, and the bed was really comfortable, perfect for relaxing. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, always quick to assist with any issues, which I really appreciated. Honestly, both the environment and the service exceeded my expectations. It was a really pleasant stay, and I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in Johor Bahru.
Good pool and gym, but misleading kitchen photos and pest issue: Rating: 3.5/5
✅ Positives
· Pool and gym: Excellent – clean, well-maintained, with good equipment.
· Level 8 bridge: Convenient access to nearby food options, though not mentioned anywhere (not even in the welcome pack). I discovered it myself.
· Host communication: Very helpful PDF provided with clear instructions for parking and check-in.
· Check-in/out process: Smooth via WhatsApp. We provided ID and car registration, then notified the host at checkout. We left around 8:30 am with no issues.
· Bathroom: Clean and toilet worked fine.
· Beds: Japanese-style on the floor (thick, good quality mattress) – comfortable.
❌ Negatives
· Misleading kitchen photos: The listing showed pictures of a large multi-cooktop stove, suggesting full cooking facilities. However, a sticker on the stove said ”Do Not Use.” Only a very small single-element electric cooktop was provided instead (see photo). I didn't use it, but the disappointment was significant.
· Cockroach issue: There were cockroaches crawling in the kitchen (see photo). The unit needs pest control.
· Non-functional lamp: The lamp beside the sofa did not work.
· Missing information: The level 8 bridge was never mentioned in the welcome pack or PDF – had to discover it myself.
📸 Photos attached:
· Cockroach in kitchen
· ”Do Not Use” sticker on stove
· Small alternative cooktop provided
· Beds (Japanese floor style)
· Windows overlooking level 8 recreational area
🤔 Would I stay again?
Yes, but only at a more reasonable price. Without proper cooking facilities, the current price didn't feel worth it. If the host fixes the pest issue and updates the listing honestly about the cooking setup, it could be a decent option.
💡 Tip for future guests: Explore the level 8 bridge on your own – it's a great way to reach food options, but you won't find it mentioned.

Good place for a short stay. The biggest advantage is the location as it is within walking distance to JB Sentral and the customs. The room is spacious compared to a hotel and suitable for overnight trips. Self check-in was easy, just need to follow the instructions carefully. The only downside is the surrounding area is quite quiet at night and parking may be a bit confusing for first timers. Overall still worth the price.

The view from the unit's balcony is world-class, but unfortunately, the door lock is loose, and the laundry balcony door can only be opened from the outside, not locked from the inside. This made us feel unsafe. Sometimes at night, we'd hear noises and have to go outside to check, worried someone might enter in the middle of the night. We even had to rig something to tie the doorknob.
The unit itself is well-equipped, but the shower water pressure was insufficient, very weak, and the hot water wasn't hot enough, only lukewarm. We stayed for 5 nights, and they didn't provide extra garbage bags, luckily we brought our own. The bedding was clean, but there were always ants in the living and dining area. Even after wiping the table several times, the ants kept coming back. I hope the host makes some improvements to ensure guests feel more secure and comfortable during their stay.

I had a wonderful stay at Shama Suasana Johor Bahru and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting JB. The location is excellent—right in the heart of the city and within walking distance to popular shopping malls, eateries, and the CIQ, making it very convenient for both leisure and short getaways.
The apartment was spacious, clean, and well-maintained, with a modern design that made it feel comfortable and homely. I especially appreciated the fully equipped kitchen and the cozy living area, which made the stay even more enjoyable. The bed was comfortable, and the overall environment was quiet, allowing for a good rest.
The staff were friendly, professional, and always ready to assist, which made the experience even better. Check-in and check-out were smooth and hassle-free.
Overall, Shama Suasana Johor Bahru offers great value for money with its excellent location, clean facilities, and warm service. I will definitely return for my next trip!
