HHi-JanetDue to the snow, we made a last-minute decision to go up the mountain and enjoy the snowy scenery. I spent ages looking at hotels, and as someone who works in a travel agency, I'm quite familiar with hotels on Huangshan's peak. I finally decided to book the newly renovated Paiyun Hotel. Firstly, the hotel's location is between the front and back mountains. Coming up from the Yungu cableway (South Gate) requires a certain level of physical fitness. However, if you travel light and enjoy the scenery along the way, you'll arrive at the hotel just in time to rest before heading to Danxia Peak for the sunset. It's a convenient 15-minute walk from the hotel to Danxia Peak. When descending the mountain, I chose to take the Taiping cableway, which was a very convenient 10-minute walk from the hotel. The hotel room was a pleasant surprise. Although not huge, it was perfectly adequate, and it even had a small desk, which was great for people like us who work on laptops while traveling. I loved the little tree outside the window; even with its leaves fallen, it still exuded vitality. The hotel's buffet breakfast was incredibly abundant. However, considering how hard the porters work to carry everything up, piece by piece, I suggest everyone only take what they can eat and avoid wasting food. Finally, the hotel's service was incredibly thoughtful. They even reminded guests to soak their feet in hot water after coming down the mountain. It's truly rare for a hotel on Huangshan, which used to be able to get away with anything, to provide such meticulous and considerate service. Oh, and the hotel's dinner! While the à la carte options are a bit pricey, the portions are generous. The baby bok choy was especially tender, sweet, and fresh, and you could get unlimited rice. It was still cheaper than eating the buffet. I highly recommend this hotel.
Also, the complimentary fruit was incredibly sweet. Getting fruit on the mountain is usually a problem, so for the hotel to offer it was just another touch of thoughtfulness.
