February 21, 2026 – Stayed in a Sea View Family Room
During our Spring Festival trip to the western side of Hainan, Ocean Flower Island was a crucial stop. We planned a two-night stay and, for convenience, chose the highly acclaimed Oubao Hotel on the island.
1. **Parking:** If you're driving, you can directly access the island and navigate to the Oubao Hotel. There's an underground parking lot, and if it's full, staff can direct you to other nearby parking areas. For those leaving the island, you can register at the front desk in advance to enjoy free parking.
2. **Hotel:** The hotel is massive in scale. The majestic lion sculptures and fountain outside the main entrance are grand, especially at night with the interwoven lighting, it feels like entering another world. It boasts the most single-unit guest rooms in Asia, composed of four interconnected Y-shaped European castles, each with a unique natural theme: forest, ocean, castle, and glacier. Our room was in the Glacier Castle, with corridors and rooms featuring a blue and white palette and abundant glacier and animal elements. The ground floors of the four castles connect to form the hotel lobby and check-in area. The space is vast, with a cathedral-like glass dome ceiling. In the center below, there was a festive New Year display, a vibrant and joyful scene. On one side of the lobby, two grand, symmetrical spiral staircases descend from the second floor, one white and one red, both adorned with flowers, creating a noble and elegant photo spot. The lobby has four exits, each leading to a different castle. After checking in at the front desk, you choose your path based on your room. Each castle has over ten elevators. The entire process left me with one impression: grandness!
3. **Room:** Both the main room and the bathroom were very spacious. It had one large bed and one smaller bed; the small bed, shaped like a train engine, was a nice touch, and the bedding was comfortable. The room's decor and configuration were quite simple and standard, but the glacier theme, with polar bear and penguin elements everywhere, added a refreshing touch. The shower was good, and it was quite rare that the shower enclosure hardly leaked. The window faced the sea, but there was a garden green belt between the castles, so the sea was distant and not a spectacular, unobstructed view. However, we were lucky enough to catch the sunset on our check-in day. The afterglow of the sunset painted the sea, fishing boats, bridge, and villa complex in our view a beautiful reddish hue. This combination and visual experience were stunning and definitely a plus.
4. **Breakfast:** The breakfast restaurant had palace-like high ceilings and space, arranged in a long strip, which made the food retrieval path a bit inefficient. The dishes were abundant and diverse, with local specialties. During our two-day stay, we sampled Hainan Yi noodles, Hou'an noodles, coffee cake, coconut cake, pumpkin cake, and other local delicacies. My elder child loved the Hou'an noodles so much she had two bowls every morning. The dessert selection was also very rich.
5. **Other Facilities and Offers:** During our two-day stay, we experienced the following: On the first evening, we attended a music festival and firework show at the Guanhai Park, with discounted tickets for hotel guests. There's a free bus shuttle near the hotel entrance that goes to places like the Ocean Park and the Fitness Center. We took this shuttle on the second day to swim at the Fitness Center. The hotel's own pool was unavailable, but we could use the Fitness Center's pool for free. It's a standard 50-meter lap pool, and it was my first time experiencing such a pool. There's also a mini-train station on the island not far from the hotel entrance, but we didn't use it.
6. **Service:** All the staff we encountered were very responsible and professional, indicating a high level of overall training.
In summary, it was a truly perfect stay, making it a top choice for accommodation when visiting Ocean Flower Island. Besides meeting basic needs for food, entertainment, and lodging, it also offered a sense of grandeur that is quite rare.

We stayed at the Gathering Villa, and aside from the many steps being a bit of a workout, everything else was great. The room was very clean, and there weren't as many mosquitoes as I'd imagined (though I did see a few, I think the repellent in the room worked because I didn't get bitten). I slept very comfortably at night and woke up to a rich chorus of bird songs in the morning.
The sunset and live band performance at the Thai restaurant were a delightful surprise!
The butler service was excellent; they arranged for someone to help with our luggage, which was a huge relief. Beyond that, the entire resort's service was top-notch; you could really feel their customer-centric approach. If you're coming to Bird's Nest Forest Park, I highly recommend staying at this hotel for a significantly enhanced overall experience.

After our trip to Shimei Bay, we arrived at the hotel with my entire family, including young children and elderly parents, along with several large suitcases. We were understandably quite tired from the journey. Upon arrival, it was clear that the hotel had a significant shortage of staff both inside and outside the lobby – a stark contrast to Shimei Bay, where service personnel were readily available everywhere. Although there weren't many guests checking in at the time, and the scene wasn't particularly busy, given our large group and numerous bags, I had to proactively request a luggage cart to make things easier. For a resort hotel that prides itself on the guest experience, the initial service response would be much better if it were more proactive and if staffing levels were more adequate.
Regarding the room, the promotional pictures I saw when booking showed a sea-facing view with a visible beach. However, the actual view from our room was quite different from what we expected. While we could see the sea in the distance, our primary view was of the hotel's pool area, and the beach wasn't visible at all. The visual impression didn't match the promotional images.
During the Chinese New Year period, the hotel organized various activities, some free and some with a charge, which is understandable. However, it was quite surprising to find that even digging for sand crabs on the public beach area required an additional fee. Compared to the hotel we stayed at previously in Shimei Bay, the activity planning here was indeed a bit lackluster.
On the bright side, the breakfast was excellent. There was a rich variety of options, especially the Pandan Tofu Pudding, Pandan Pancakes, and various Hainan noodles. These were not only distinctive but also delicious, adding a wonderful culinary delight to our mornings.
What truly impressed us was the mature food scene around the hotel. From Coconut Chicken, Wenchang Chicken, Ding'an Jumping Beef (which can be hotpot or BBQ), Baoluo Noodles, Hainan Noodles, to all sorts of desserts and snacks – the choices were incredibly diverse. This added a lot of local flavor and memorable gastronomic experiences to our trip.
The hotel's beach area itself was quite good. The sea breeze, sand quality, and the overall experience were very relaxing and comfortable.

Our stay at the Pullman Sanya Bay during this trip to Sanya was absolutely perfect – a definite five-star recommendation! The hotel's location is superb, directly facing the stunning Sanya Bay. There's an exclusive underground passage that leads straight to a private beach, which is both safe and convenient. The room was spacious and clean, and the balcony offered an amazing view. Waking up to the azure sea and sky, and watching the sunset in the evening, was simply beautiful. A special shout-out to our butler, Lily! Her service was truly impeccable. She proactively contacted us before check-in to provide helpful tips, and throughout our stay, she followed up constantly, always accommodating our requests quickly and efficiently. Knowing we had a child, she thoughtfully prepared kids' amenities and sand toys. When we wanted seafood, she recommended restaurants and even helped book transportation. She checked in with us daily, taking care of even the smallest details. Lily was so gentle and professional, ensuring our itinerary was perfectly arranged – it was incredibly heartwarming. The hotel facilities are also excellent. The swimming pool is large and clean, and the water park was a huge hit with the kids. The dining options are extensive; the breakfast selection was varied, and the seafood buffet was incredibly fresh. Overall, the environment is great, the service is outstanding, and the views are spectacular. Having a treasure like Lily as our butler truly elevated our vacation experience to the fullest! We'll definitely stay here again on our next visit to Sanya!

We stayed in a garden room on the first day and were recommended Alalei the butler's WeChat. On the second day, we booked a sea-view room, and the service was excellent. They proactively arranged value-added services for us. The breakfast was superb, and they helped us book the buffet dinner. Any requests we had for the room were promptly fulfilled, which was great. The complimentary desserts were also a delightful touch. After moving into the sea-view room, it felt a bit damp, but they helped us dry and change the bedding and added a dehumidifier, and the issue was resolved. We had a pretty good rest afterward.

This was my third stay at Le Méridien, and it was significantly worse than previous visits. Let me list the issues I encountered over the past few days.
First, the TV only had domestic channels. Phoenix TV and all international channels were unavailable. When I called the front desk, they said it should work. An engineer came up, tried a few things, and then told me there was no signal and it couldn't be watched. I'm not sure if this is the case in all rooms.
The second problem was even stranger: during breakfast, there were no pickles. When I asked the staff if they could replenish them, the answer was 'No, we're out.' But as soon as I took out my phone to snap a photo, they suddenly said they had some! Haha, can you believe that?
Third, an elevator broke down, so the delivery robot couldn't bring up my takeout. A staff member had to deliver it manually, and I waited 40 minutes.
Fourth, I sent clothes for laundry on the first day, and they weren't returned for three days. It was only after I called on the third day to inquire that they told me I had to pay in person upon delivery (I wonder if this was because they didn't take a deposit?). I don't quite understand that policy!
All four of these issues genuinely occurred. However, the butler, KIM, was very enthusiastic and helpful. Every day, she proactively asked what time I wanted the room cleaned and if I needed anything. On the last day, she even upgraded my breakfast restaurant and gave me a souvenir when I checked out.

The room design is a bit dated, but there are plenty of activities: tennis, golf, beach volleyball, sea fishing experiences, a 50-meter pool, and more. They also offer a free travel photoshoot with 5 pictures. The hotel has many Instagrammable spots. Our butler, Mile, contacted me a day in advance to share the hotel's daily activities and was incredibly responsive and helpful. This hotel is perfect for solo travelers.

I cannot begin to describe how good this place is! First of all, they kindly gave us a free upgrade as there was building happening beneath our room and I’m allergic to dust. It must of been the nicest place we have ever stayed. They told us we had a Butler and Eason our Butler added us on WeChat. I thought ‘whatever would we need a butler for?’ Well I had a headache and he ordered and delivered medication then we ordered takeaway twice off Dianaping app and he translated and ordered it for us. Even when the pool towels had run out, he had some delivered to us at the pool! Incredible! The buffet breakfast was perfect every day for 6 days too! We liked walking to the night market, on the path by the water, and we ate at the nearby basic cheap restaurants. The convenience store at the bottom of the building is great too. Also, there’s a proper gym right there that is free to go to if staying at the hotel and it has a squat rack with 20kg bar. 100% recommend.

This is a newly opened hotel in a great location. It's right next to a traditional Hainanese tea house, so you can grab a bite and then take a pleasant stroll from the park to the old town. The hygiene is good, and the bedding is comfortable. The shower has excellent water pressure. There's a smart control system, but we didn't use it. Overall, I recommend it.

SShenniniI used to dislike Haitang Bay, always feeling it was too out of the way. But choosing Shangri-La for this spring break + Qingming Festival was absolutely the right decision. The water park was incredibly fun, especially the two giant slides that even adults enjoyed immensely. The go-karts were also a blast, and the foam party was super lively. I think the entertainment value is on par with Tianyu, but the environment and facilities are much better. Plus, I've never worried about the food quality at Shangri-La; it's consistently good worldwide. The hotel is huge, the restaurants are spacious, and there are plenty of staff, so it never felt crowded or like service was lacking. Our butler, Rodri, was super responsive and enthusiastic, taking care of every little detail. A good butler really elevates the experience, especially when traveling with kids, if you know what I mean, haha. The evening carnival atmosphere was just fantastic, haha. This really shows they put thought into their family-friendly services. The only minor drawback is that Haitang Bay pales in comparison to Yalong Bay.
GGuest UserThe hotel environment is fantastic! There are plenty of facilities and activities, the bedding is clean and high-quality, and the room is quiet. The staff are enthusiastic, and I especially want to commend the dedicated hotel guest relations小姐姐 (Miss) from Trip.com for this stay. She contacted me by phone upon check-in and was responsive to all my needs throughout my stay. It was a perfect accommodation experience.

CCeeCeeCcService: The butler contacted me in advance, thanks to Jill for her excellent service. The hotel offers complimentary pick-up and drop-off service from the airport and high-speed rail station, which is fantastic! They also provide turn-down service, big thanks to the staff.
Facilities: The facilities are a bit dated but still perfectly functional. Both rooms are quite spacious. There are two restrooms, but only one shower. This was a minor inconvenience for our family traveling with grandparents, parents, and a toddler; it would have been much better if there were two showers.
Breakfast: The buffet offers a noodle station, Hainan Zao Po Cu (a local sour and spicy soup), and a good selection of Western pastries. Lots of foreigners, indeed! 😂
The Chinese restaurant serves Cantonese cuisine for lunch and dinner. We found a great value four-person set menu.
There's also a dessert shop and a bar with a very comfortable seating area overlooking the sea. It's a great spot to relax with a drink, and the prices are reasonable.
The hotel only has an outdoor pool, which isn't heated. The deepest part is 1.3m, and there's a kids' pool at 0.5m. Free swimming rings are available.
The artificial beach is sufficient for kids to play in the sand, and complimentary sand toys are provided.
They partner with a photography service and offer five complimentary photos.
There are many children's activities, and we participated in a few. The instructors were very patient, highly commendable!
While Dadonghai can't compare to Yalong Bay, the overall value for money is still good.

GGuest UserEnvironment: As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the sunset and a refreshing ocean breeze. The hotel is absolutely stunning and massive! The coconut groves, lawns, pool, and sandy beach provide endless photo opportunities – it's just amazing! The room has a small balcony, and when you open the door, the view is expansive.
Facilities: They had a baby playpen and bathtub ready for me. Although some online reviews mentioned the facilities being a bit old, everything I needed was there. Hot water was fine, hairdryer worked well. The only minor issue was the air conditioning wasn't very cold, but it was still acceptable. The small balcony was perfect for drying clothes quickly, which was very convenient.
Hygiene: There were notices on the table about geckos, ants, and insects, but I didn't encounter any bugs during my stay. The cleaning staff were also very efficient. With all my baby's things making a bit of a mess, the auntie quickly tidied everything up for me.
Service: My requests were met very quickly! I called for band-aids, to have dishes cleared, for room cleaning, to order a kids' meal, and for a late check-out – all were handled promptly! A special shout-out to Butler Tudou (Potato) – incredibly enthusiastic, proactive, and provided excellent service! Also, the staff at the pool area were very warm and patient, and they even helped me inflate my swim ring for free.
Another highlight was the complimentary Magnolia photoshoot. The photographer was very professional. I just told him what I wanted, and he quickly found suitable locations and patiently helped me set up props. I initially thought the five complimentary photos would be enough, but after seeing the final shots, I didn't hesitate to pay for more. They made a perfect gift for my baby's first birthday 🎁.
The breakfast and buffet dinner included in the package offered a rich variety of options and tasted great. The noodles for breakfast really suited a Hunan palate, and there were various snacks. Dinner was a DIY hotpot buffet, so we didn't eat out at all these past few days, even though it seems there's a food street nearby, haha.
There were also some parent-child activities, but my baby was too young to participate.
Overall, it exceeded my expectations. For a family trip, it offers great value for money.
GGuest UserI chose this hotel to celebrate my husband's birthday, and it was absolutely stunning! Watching the underwater world from our room was incredibly dreamy. Our private butler started coordinating with my birthday planner two weeks before check-in, cooperating fully, arranging gifts, and even asking about my husband's preferences to prepare a surprise cake and a huge bouquet. Besides assisting the planner, the butler also decorated our bed. To my surprise, they even prepared an underwater birthday message, which I had initially planned to arrange myself – another lovely surprise from the butler! We also had a beluga whale interaction, and my husband, while diving, specifically arranged to interact with me through our room's glass panel. In short, their service was outstanding, fulfilling every request! The breakfast spread was so abundant it couldn't fit on one table. Upon departure, they even arranged a car to take us to our next hotel, which was incredibly thoughtful. P.S. The gigantic osteoglossid fish was amazing! 🐟
EErdongqiaqiayouRated 80, this hotel offers great value for money.
Pros: The public areas are spacious and beautiful, seemingly well-maintained. There are three pools: a kids' pool, a heated adult pool, and an infinity pool. The beach bar has a really pleasant atmosphere.
I booked a Grand Club sea-view room. While you can see the ocean from the room, there's also a construction site visible, so the view might need a bit of 'mental filtering,' but it's still good. Everything you'd expect is provided. I particularly liked the scent of their toiletries and body lotion – it's Pullman brand, very pleasant and soothing.
Breakfast was just okay; nothing amazing, but nothing terrible either. I really enjoyed their papaya; it had absolutely none of that strange 'papaya' taste and was very sweet. I'm not usually a fan of papaya, but I ate several slices and thought I'd developed a liking for it. Then my friend bought one downstairs that had a strong papaya flavor, and I couldn't eat it. We also tried the complimentary hot pot buffet, served in the same restaurant as breakfast. The seafood selection was limited to shrimp, razor clams, chicken legs, some conch, and crabs. There was some meat as well. The best part was cooking their raw Hainanese chicken yourself; don't bother with the pre-cooked one! We also dined at their Yu Village restaurant. In terms of value for money, it was average. The price matches the taste – it was good, but not worth making a special trip for. It's a good option if you're staying at the hotel and don't feel like going out. I recommend their salt-baked chicken; it even comes with a presentation ritual that's a bit embarrassing for introverts.
Overall, the service was genuinely good, which is why they received a score of 80. We're the type of guests who ask for a lot – we needed things for social media posts, and band-aids, and they provided everything. Their handling of a subsequent complaint was also a huge plus.
The travel photoshoot turned out pretty well too; at least we got some free photos. My sister and I went with our husbands but didn't rely on them for photos, and that mindset proved to be absolutely correct. The hotel's travel photography service, as long as you're sensible when selecting photos, can totally resolve family disputes using the free entitlement – it's brilliant.
Cons: There were a lot of mosquitoes and ants. We were lying by the pool, and small insects were crawling onto us. Small flies also emerged from the welcome fruit the hotel provided – it wasn't that the fruit was old, it was just there.
Some of the hardware needs improvement. Upon check-in, I noticed the sealant in the shower was peeling. They fixed it quite quickly after we reported it. Later, while swimming, I pushed off the pool wall and found it quite rough and scraped my foot, so you need to be careful. Many of the poolside loungers had mold stains on their covers. The entire hotel also lacks an indoor pool; all are outdoors.
The hotel's air conditioning was extremely ineffective. If you're even slightly sensitive to heat, staying in the room with the AC on full blast still felt warm. We also called for this to be fixed. The staff measured it and said it was normal, but it was genuinely hot. I mean, we've stayed in other hotels with AC, but if they say it's normal, then we'll just say it's cooler than outside.
After our room was cleaned on the second day, we returned from swimming to find a fingerprint-shaped stain on the towel hanging on the outside handle of the shower. It was absurd; I don't think that should ever happen at a Grand Hyatt – it's a hygiene issue. However, we were on vacation, and the incident had already occurred. Of course, I was angry at the moment, but since it happened, my priority was their attitude and explanation, and ultimately, compensation. This is where their service and complaint handling come into play again. It was truly prompt and professional. Feedback was received immediately, and they came to resolve it right away. Subsequently, a manager called to apologize, and they didn't just string me along with a good attitude but no 'sincerity' (you can refer to my previous review of Hotel X for comparison). Grand Hyatt genuinely provided some compensation we needed, including car service to our next hotel and dining vouchers. Upon check-out, they even gave me a set of their toiletries, which I loved. I was surprised they knew I liked them, as I hadn't mentioned it at all. They also promised a room upgrade if we stayed with them again in the future. The entire process was handled gracefully, resolving the problem and regaining our favor.
Overall, the public areas and pools of Grand Hyatt Haitang Bay are excellent, the service and after-sales support are outstanding, and the value for money is good. It's suitable for those who prioritize experience and have high service expectations. Although there were minor flaws with insects, hardware, AC, and hygiene, the responsible after-sales service makes the overall vacation experience still highly recommendable.
LLost_in_the_JungleLet me first say, hotels are always looking for a good review, but I will only give a good review if I honestly feel they deserve it.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Qixian~ the resort grounds are absolutely stunning. My husband and I were so pleasantly surprised to discover that the resort has been thoughtfully designed to feel part of the rainforest. Everywhere you look there are giant boulders, gurgling clear streams, ancient trees and hidden trails that make you feel you are walking deep in a forest. All you hear are the birds and the water rushing in the streams! We have travelled all over China, and this is the quietest, most authentic feeling nature spot we have ever experienced.
In addition, there are so many hot springs you can choose to relax in, or you can use the hot spring attached to your balcony!
The restaurant has a good variety and we liked everything we ordered, it was fresh and flavorful, we tried the pork ribs and braised tofu, both delicious, but the green coconut filled buns were a perfect ending!
The lobby staff was friendly and helpful, and gave us all kinds of upgrades! You can get pickup on the carts anytime, but we preferred to walk and enjoy the beauty, the resort grounds feel huge, but honestly its well designed so you can reach any spot in 5-10 minutes.
Also, they have all kinds of activities you can join. We really enjoyed the rainforest walk, the lady from the Li family that conducted the walk was so lovely, we could tell she really had a connection to the forest and just radiated joy as she showed us all the plants, it was one of the highlights of our stay!
Our room was clean, the sheets were soft and the bed was comfortable. The view onto the palm forest was so relaxing to look at as we soaked in the spring.
The infinity pool was spectacular, the setting is gorgeous and peaceful. The coconuts and dessert we ordered were really good, however, the drinks we ordered were awful and maybe they can get some more outgoing staff to work at the pool bar, maybe because it was winter time and less people are at the pool?
Breakfast is served in a building that overlooks the river, there is ALL kinds of food, if you are a Westerner you can find fried eggs, toast, and pastries. But I recommend going to the area where fresh rice noodle is made for you on the spot, add toppings and fried eggs, it was delicious!
There are some rustic areas to the resort- it feels a bit abandoned in areas, like its just too big to keep up with ie. Giant empty pools, some of the buildings look in desperate need of refurbishing, but overall we felt like the resort was truly beautiful and amenities really made this a great value for the price we paid. We are already planning to come back when we need a break from the city!

GGuest UserWe booked the JoJo family twin room, and a big thank you to our butler, Andy Li, for fulfilling so many of our requests – the service was incredibly attentive!
1. You can ask the butler in advance to push the beds together, which was very thoughtful. We checked in directly at 7:30 PM without waiting a single second, it was super fast!
2. We stayed on the fourth floor, west wing, in a partial sea view room. It had a balcony, a drying rack, and two recliners, making it very convenient for drying clothes. All JoJo family rooms are on the third and fourth floors.
3. Our three-night JoJo twin room package included a set of sand-digging tools (placed directly on the bed), five game tokens, and a JoJo gift pack (backpack, sun hat). Definitely grab that gift pack! The Kids' Club allows one adult and one child to play freely, which is great for when it's hot during the day.
4. The room was clean and tidy, with a sofa and a table, fully functional. The bathroom was also large. I thought it was great, definitely not like the negative reviews online claimed. Children's amenities were also provided.
5. Looking downstairs, you could see the children's pool and playground. However, they aren't open all day, only for a few hours in the afternoon, after which it's just the main pool.
6. For breakfast, the Hainan noodles are highly recommended (pictured in image three). The braised topping was beef offal – so fragrant when combined! There was also Coconut Buliang (a local dessert).
7. Han Sheng Fu (restaurant): The kimchi pork belly was delicious.
8. The beach is just a short walk through an underpass, quite close.
9. Surroundings: There's a two-story supermarket at Hai Zhi Yan with local specialties, fruits, milk, snacks, toys, etc. It's just across the road, very close. There are also many dining options nearby. McDonald's and KFC are opposite the road.
10. We participated in two lawn activities, starting at 9:40 AM. No reservation needed, perfect for playing after breakfast. It was really good.
Overall, I personally think the hotel is great, with nothing to complain about. My only observations were that it's very large, so there's a lot of walking, it's far from the lobby, the lawn is big, it's a long walk to the beach, and the children's pool isn't open frequently. The surroundings, environment, and service are all excellent. It's a great hotel for a seaside getaway and playing in the sand.
