RISONARE Tomamu resembles a ”snow town,” expansive and well-equipped. However, this size can be a double-edged sword: restaurants, bathhouses, and shops are scattered throughout, requiring shuttle buses to connect them, making it a real hassle to get elderly people on and off the bus in winter. The rooms are a bit dated, with the wallpaper and sofas showing signs of age. The public onsen is mediocre in quality and can become noisy when crowded. The service staff is polite but lacks the subtle, subtle touches that are Hoshino's signature. In summary: It's a good choice for young families looking to ski and stay in a hotel. If you're traveling with elderly people, consider factoring in the physical effort of waiting for the bus and walking.
Setsu Niseko truly blew me away. Beyond the impeccable facilities and cleanliness, what impressed me most was their incredibly generous service philosophy.
The team here is very international, making communication incredibly smooth. Most importantly, they never make excuses when resolving issues. Whether it's a major problem or a minor detail, their response is always, ”No problem, we'll take care of it,” rather than deflecting or explaining difficulties. This feeling of being well-cared for, knowing that everything will be handled, is what true top-tier service is all about. Highly recommended!
Hokkaido in summer has its own unique charm. There's a direct hotel bus from New Chitose Airport. My flight was delayed by about an hour that day, but the shuttle bus staff waited directly at the arrival gate for us and even took us on a shortcut to exchange our pre-booked JR Pass. We're so grateful to this enthusiastic staff member!
The Westin is part of the Rusutsu Resort. While it's an older property, it's very well-maintained. The lobby is cozy, and the rooms are clean and tidy. All rooms are loft-style, but it's a bit inconvenient that there's no restroom on the second floor.
We had dinner at the hotel's buffet twice and at the Rusutsu Resort Hotel buffet across the street once. The Westin's buffet leaned more Western, while the resort hotel's was more rustic and offered a wider variety of dishes.
Hope to visit again in the winter during ski season!
Absolutely gorgeous resort! Loved everything about it - the service, the ambience, the food, the views from the room. We had French for dinner with options to add items (including Japanese seafood) and the quality is superb. The large public bath is nice too. If I were to make a suggestion, their outdoor Onsen can be made bigger and nicer for sure. Overall it was a fantastic stay and we would love to be back!
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The location is perfect — just a 2-minute walk to the Hirafu Welcome Centre, making it extremely convenient, especially for catching the direct bus from the airport. The surrounding scenery is beautiful, giving us a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere throughout our stay.
The service was excellent. The staff were attentive, helpful, and made everything very smooth for us. The room was super clean, well-maintained, and came with a washing machine, which was incredibly convenient for our trip.
What impressed us the most was their pick-up and drop-off service to the Hirafu Welcome Centre. It made our arrival and departure completely hassle-free.
Highly recommended for anyone visiting Hirafu!
## The Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Niseko | Summer Solitude, Mountain Breezes & Rejuvenation
My first visit to Niseko instantly charmed me with its summer appeal – uncrowded and picturesque, with refreshing breezes. It's the perfect escape from the summer heat, offering exceptional value for money and making it an ideal choice for a secluded getaway. The hotel boasts a minimalist yet refined decor, perfectly blending the sophistication of a high-end urban hotel with the serene ambiance of the natural mountain surroundings. Attention to detail is impeccable, and the service team is exceptionally thoughtful and meticulous, making guests feel completely at ease.
Regarding dining, breakfast offers a delightful combination of à la carte and buffet options, with an extensive and nutritious selection. For dinner, I'd suggest exploring nearby restaurants for better value and variety. Its location is truly a 'hidden gem' – secluded yet convenient. It's just a few minutes' walk to the ski village's commercial area, which even in summer has a pleasant buzz. For those driving, it offers privacy and convenience. Guests without a car can easily connect via the Hilton hotel next to the ski slope, ensuring clear and efficient transportation.
Niseko, beautiful year-round, truly transforms into a ski paradise in winter. The hotel's exclusive gondola serves as a 'private access lane,' offering genuine ski-in/ski-out convenience. Paired with a master-designed night illumination show, it adds a romantic touch to the snowy evenings. Compared to other popular ski resorts, this area feels more tranquil and private, making it especially ideal for families or discerning travelers seeking a premium experience.
Undoubtedly, the standout features are the exclusive ski-in/ski-out gondola and the resort's appealing atmosphere, perfect for both summer and winter. The off-peak season, priced at nearly half of peak season rates, offers outstanding value. It's highly recommended for guests who value tranquility and appreciate meticulous service – whether it's a summer escape from the heat or a winter ski adventure, guests will find a double delight of comfort and serenity here.
My stay at Jozankei Ivylodge this time was utterly thrilling. The hotel offered top-notch service, including a dedicated 1-on-1 butler who was attentive and thoughtful throughout our entire stay. Waking up to the sound of birdsong in the morning, and opening my eyes to an expanse of lush greenery, was breathtakingly beautiful. The thoughtful little touches were a definite bonus, like the complimentary POLA samples – a wonderful unexpected surprise. Dinner was a traditional Kaiseki meal, a leisurely, drawn-out affair from dusk till dark, with every single course exquisitely prepared. Upon leaving, I had only one thought: see you again!
Everything is good, the food is very exquisite, the sense of ceremony is full, but the food is exquisite, the actual taste and ingredients are ordinary, no merit or fault. The overall experience is affirmed. Before booking, I saw in the comment area that the charge for bringing children is no more than 1,000 yuan per person. When I settled the bill, I was shocked to see the price. One child added almost 4,000 yuan per night. We brought two children and added 8,000 yuan per night, which is equivalent to one night's room rate. I especially want to know if the hotel has always charged this way? We stayed for two nights and added almost 16,000 yuan. The room type we booked on Ctrip did not include dinner. It was simply a big sucker. Just a reference for the Chinese compatriots behind, you don’t have to stay, you can stay. The hotel is OK in all aspects, the public area is pretty, the room is large but lacks design. It’s more homely! But there are few facilities, it’s not suitable for parents and children, and the price discourages parents and children. I stayed in Park Hyatt in Kyoto, Japan, a very good hotel. The children were only charged for breakfast. The cost of the children in the Azuki Seat is too exaggerated. In addition, the Shikotsu Lake next to the hotel is quite beautiful, but the transportation here is really inconvenient. The hotel has a pick-up at Chitose Airport, but it is only at 16:45 in the afternoon, so it is really difficult to connect. We took a taxi because there were few cars at night, and the taxi cost about 500 RMB. A taxi from the hotel to Sapporo JR is about 1000 RMB. Because there is too little information to refer to when booking, I posted the information I originally wanted to know for your reference.
This is definitely not your average overnight hotel. Everything, from the upscale and elegant environment, to the complete and brand-new facilities, the spacious and bright room types, and the thoughtful and enthusiastic service, was incredibly impressive. The floor-to-ceiling windows offer a view of New Chitose Airport. Spending the first night of our Hokkaido trip at this hotel was an absolutely wonderful experience!
This was the most anticipated part of our entire trip, and it certainly didn't disappoint!
#Hotel Location: Excellent. It's right on the hot spring street, and behind it is the pier for lake boat tours (Happy Boardwalk).
#Hotel Service: They upgraded us to a large suite for free, and the view was absolutely fantastic. I loved the suite's layout, amenities, and the smart toilet. The outdoor hot spring faces the lake, and the male and female baths rotate at different times, so you can try them all (っ˘ڡ˘ς)♨️
The buffet was also good, and we additionally ordered a red king crab which was delicious. You can book many activities and experiences at the hotel. There's an outdoor shop called Siri on the first floor of the hotel where you can book activities like hiking and lake tours. My friend and I booked the night forest light show at the front desk. The only thing worth complaining about is how ugly the hot spring robes are – absolutely no desire to take photos in them!

GGuest UserThe room was decent, no bathtub but the hotel has a public bath, which is standard for a business hotel. It's near Nakajima-Koen subway station, just across the street. A heads-up for everyone, it's in Nakajima Park, so if you're not near Susukino or Odori, it's a bit of a walk. It's not out of the way, but you do have to walk. Sapporo's subway isn't as frequent as Tokyo's, so sometimes walking might get you there just as fast. It's quite a hassle to drag luggage and parents through the snow when you can't use the underground walkway.
Rrosie_qiqiRoom is spacious with a private garden & outdoors onsen.
Welcome puddings were very yummy and yet the buffet in there was very insipid. Frankly speaking, the only two good foods there are sashimi and rice, what a shame.
Others: Very close to the lake, 1-2 minutes walk; a large and cozy lobby with good jazz music from an antique JBL sound system; live music performance every night; lots of books; fireplace and roasted marshmallows; lovely shop on the 3rd floor (prized reasonably). All is well except the buffet. Did not try the Japanese one (needs to book and pay a lot) hence a bit regretted.

AAnonymous UserThe hotel is located between New Chitose Airport and Sapporo city center. It takes about half an hour to reach Sapporo. If you're looking to shop, staying in Sapporo is more convenient. However, this hotel is a good option if you have an early flight the next day. The room had a very strong disinfectant smell; I suggest the hotel improves its ventilation.
GGuest UserThe lake-view room offers breathtaking scenery. The panoramic views of Lake Toya and the distant snow-capped mountains are simply stunning. The room itself was comfortable and clean, and breakfast was exquisite. The Michelin-starred restaurant and the snowmobile experience were particularly impressive. Overall, it was an outstanding stay.
GGuest UserRoom quite small even though they indicated 20msq. No space to put luggage, have to put on chair. Hotel indicated provided bicycle rental but when I check with them , they say only in summer time. Ask me to go Furano station to rent bicycles. But the bed is very comfortable.
AAnonymous UserLocation: If you couldn't book the hotel's free shuttle or the Kappa Liner bus, you can take rapid bus #7 or #8 from Sapporo city center to Daiichi Hotel Mae, and the hotel is right there. There's also a bus to Sapporo Ski Resort that stops at the same platform.
Room Amenities: The room was clean, tidy, and very spacious, and it even had its own private hot spring bath.
I booked a package that included breakfast and dinner. The food was just okay, but there was a self-service bar and some snacks.
GGuest UserWent in December
Lobby area is very nicely decorated
Service was very prompt and helpful
Welcome drink can offer a couple more variety eg coffee
The cafe and bar is very cosy. Had a drink there
Suggest to make the place warmer as it’s winter and can be quite cold
The room is small expected and satisfactory
Good use of small space
Bathroom has all amenities
There is laundromat
GGuest UserThere's a direct bus from JR Toya Station right to the hotel entrance. The hotel lobby is magnificent, and the views are great, but it does host a lot of tour groups, so expect it to be quite lively everywhere you go. The room views are also beautiful. I'd read in other reviews that the Western-style rooms were a bit dated, but I booked one anyway because it was cheaper. As someone who isn't too picky about accommodation, I found it to be very good. Both the mattress and the sofa were comfortable. The only real downside was the rather old toilet, but since I enjoyed the open-air onsen, I didn't actually use the shower in the room. The hotel offers a shuttle bus service to and from Sapporo, which I highly recommend using – it's super convenient.
