Matsue Universal Hotel

7,5/10

This Showa-era business hotel is right outside Matsue Station's South Exit. The lobby is sunken, which might be a bit inconvenient for those with heavy luggage. The room facilities are quite old, there's no outlet by the bed, and power is activated by an old-fashioned key card system (or rather, a key). The large public bath on the top floor wasn't open, and the elevator is also very small. When you go out, you need to hand your key to the front desk, and when you return, you show a card with your room number to retrieve your key and meal voucher. They offer free breakfast and dinner. Breakfast is a buffet with limited options, and for dinner, you can choose between a curry set meal or a daily Japanese-style set. All in all, for just over 200 a night, including breakfast and dinner, what more could you ask for? If it doesn't mind my budget, I won't mind its age.

Suitenkaku was our first stay in a Ryokan. Those who want to visit Tottori, Izumo and Sakaiminato will find Matsue well located, while the Ryokan is next door to the Ichibata railway deserving the Izumo Taisha. The room was renovated and very spacious, offering a direct view to the lake. Above all, the staff was absolutely friendly and helpful. Real Omotenashi ! We are fully satisfied with our stay. Will repeat for our next stay in the area.

Everything was perfect! The staff was kind, helpful, and extremely efficient, as always in Japan. I loved the delicious ramen served in the evening, the relaxing onsen, the peaceful atmosphere, the impeccable cleanliness, and all the extra services included. The location is also very convenient, just next to the station. I would have loved to stay more nights, but unfortunately, there was no availability. I really hope to come back!

Green Rich Hotel Matsue Eki Across

This is considered quite stingy for a budget hotel in Japan. Laundry costs extra, dryer costs extra, and laundry detergent costs 100 yen. They don't provide skincare sets, bottled water, or disposable slippers (I asked the front desk, and they said the hotel doesn't provide them). Even the public bath lacks skincare products, and there were unidentified stains on the curtains. The facilities, however, are very new and clean. Except for the curtains and slippers, everything else is very well cleaned. Check-in is self-service; you can complete the process without speaking to the front desk.

A very beautiful courtyard-style hot spring hotel; the Japanese-style room I booked was more spacious than I expected. The hotel environment is beautiful, and the hot spring is comfortable. The staff are warm, attentive, and provide meticulous service. The breakfast and dinner were of very high quality!

I had a very good impression when I stayed at work, so I chose this inn for my Sanin trip. The customer service was good and I was able to spend no stress at all until I arrived at the inn and left the next day. The meal was delicious and the bath was large. The city itself is small but has an atmosphere, and I was satisfied with the quiet and quiet time away from the hustle and bustle at night. I want to stay when I visit this area again. The only thing that made the facilities 4 points was that the parking lot was a little narrow.

very nice! There is a Family Mart nearby and it is a short walk to Izumo Taisha Shrine and the Izumo Historical Museum! The receptionist was very nice. Dinner and breakfast were all buffets. They were delicious. The hot springs were very comfortable. However, there were too many people and I didn’t have the chance to soak in a private hot spring. There were also free ramen and kimono rentals. It was a good choice to go to Izumo Taisha Shrine~ It’s close to the Izumo tram station. It’s a little far away from the main shrine but the road is quite easy to walk!

The hotel is in a good location, very close to Ichibata Railway Shinjiko Onsen Station, only two or three minutes' walk away. It is very convenient to take the Ichibata Railway to Izumo Taisha Shrine. The hotel rooms are large, clean and tidy. The buffet breakfast and dinner are very good, including seafood bowls. The hot springs are also good and the baths are very comfortable.
