Undoubtedly the best place for vacation in Puerto Peñasco

The hotel was clean and pretty. We had oceanfront rooms on the second floor of the recently renovated side of the hotel. Housekeeping did a good job and we were glad to find a refrigerator and microwave in each room. The pool was heated to a comfortable temperature and both hot tubs were working fine. The pool area and beach were kept clean and the accompanying restaurant had good outside seating. There was construction on one side of the hotel and at the restaurant daily from 9am-5pm but it did not really get in the way. My only objection to the hotel was how unwelcome we were made to feel at check in. Our rooms were pre-paid and we were asked to sign the bill. Then we were given a sheet of rules and asked to initial each one. Then we were given and told to wear a wrist band and that we would be charged if we lost it. Then we were given a pool towel card and told if we did not return it or a towel at check out, we would be charged. Then we were told if we took our room or pool towels to the beach we would be charged. Then our credit cards were run again and we were asked to sign an agreement to pay in case we damaged the rooms. The first thing we did when we went to our rooms was take pictures in case we were charged for damages we did not cause. Not the nicest way to start a hotel stay. Clearly, there has been some history that led the hotel to put these safeguards in place. We were visiting during the week, the hotel was nearly empty and we were all senior citizens. The greeting we got at check-in felt unnecessarily aggressive and unfriendly. It ruined a first impression that could have otherwise been lovely.

Stayed here for 2 nights for business. It is located about 20-30 minutes away from Hermosillo airport and the property has a clean, newer feel to it. Pros: -All staff were friendly and efficient -Room was clean and spacious -Gym was very spacious and had up to 50LB dumbbells and a multi-function pulley weight machine with a pull up bar. You can definitely get a good workout in with this setup. -Located right next to a giant mall that has anything you would need Cons: -The restaurant in the lobby left a lot to be desired. The service was a bit slow and the food was subpar. They do have a full bar though for anyone looking for a drink. The restaurant food quality would be the only thing I would try to improve. Everything else was good and I would stay here again for business.

Would have been nice if they had Tequila for my margarita! Everything else was great!

The lobby, restaurant, bar and business center looked the same. When we came out of the elevator at our floor, I sensed the classic smell of new carpets. I didn’t like much the spotted pattern, because the installers didn’t take the time to match the patches. In the bedroom, I noticed a new wood-like floor with a rug, a nice padded bedhead, a new modern armchair, no longer with footrest. Hanging and accent lamps replace the night tables lamps. There are new drape curtains and a blackout electrical curtain that comes out of its rail easily; in that case, turn it up and down several times, until in falls in the rail again. The switch is on the night table closer to the window, on the bed side. A new lighted mirror in the bedroom looked beautiful during the day, but at night it became a nightmare. It has a stand-by glowing blue light, the kind of light than can be seen with your eyes closed. I tried to dim it, turn it off or disconnect it, but the mirror was built in the wall. I had to buy black cardboard and tape to cover it because it was really annoying. The new TV is a smart one, so you can open your streaming accounts. There´s still no mini bar and now the coffee pot is gone. I wonder why... .That´s why the first night, we ordered refreshments from room service. Oddly, the attendant asked for our payment method. ”Charge it to the room” I said. ”I have to ask if that is possible”, she replied, and put me on hold for 4 or 5 minutes. She finally complied.

Having read all the good reviews I was really excited and happy to be staying at the Fairfield. That didn't last long. The hotel has really cut down on everything - due to the coronavirus, they say. The rooms are cleaned once every other day - if you remind the hotel reception and the hotel maids. Otherwise who knows how often. The cutlery at the ”morning buffet” is made of very thin plastic. Good luck eating anything with those forks and knives. There is only whole fat milk at the buffet. No other milk. Due to the coronavirus, they say. This is just downright ridiculous! Go buy some lactose-free and skim milk at the Walmart right across the street. There is an unoccupied conference room next to the restaurant. Nobody there. But will they open it up for you to make a conference call? No! Why? Because it has been reserved for another meeting. The participants must have been invisible though, as they were not to be seen at all. I don't know where or how they wash their towels here, but they don't look very clean and tempting. Several of the towels have dark spots on them. The soap container was completely empty. I requested that it be filled and got a new bottle. Funny enough, the content of the shampoo container and the ordinary soap, is 100% the same. The service at the hotel is polite, but they will in no way or manner try to accommodate you or go the extra mile. I really recommend that you say at the City Express. You'll get the same or better service at a much better price.

This presidential suite is elaborate and large. There are only 2 of these on the property. The pool area is nice. The staff is very friendly. The location is great because it is close to everything. The restaurant food was ok. The kitchen in the presidential has a 4 burner range and large eating area. The kitchen for all the other 2 or 1 bedroom suites (not the presidential) only have 2 burner electric ranges and there is little room for food prep. There is beach access but there is no sand next to the water. Bring water shoes because the water has rocks in it.

Truly one of the best places I have ever stayed in Rocky Point! We are two college blonde girls (just graduated) who felt completely protected by the entire staff the entire time. The valet service (Louis! Raudel! Gabriel!) My sister had a broken foot but the entire hotel staff helped us immensely to make her more comfortable. The front desk, the restaurant staff (Adrian!!!), the friendliest cleaning crew, (Claudia Sonoki!!!) were so friendly, warm and welcoming. They were genuinely happy to serve us and I can’t stop talking about Penasco Del Sol. I will be sending ALL of my family and friends to this resort. Don’t skip the breakfast! Also in case you are curious the beach is only a 3 min walk outside of the hotel gates! The beach is CLEAN! They have amazing food drinks, shopping etc on the beach but you don’t feel smothered just loved on. I can’t wait to come back. The only critique I have is the WiFi worked really well downstairs but up in room 537 it did not work well at all. But hey! Sometimes technology can suck. Thank you Penasco Del Soon! Te Amo. This is the best place to stay in Rocky Point! The rooms are beautiful, clean, and comfortable. People on other comments complained that there was no TV in the rooms... I think that is wonderful! I am on vacation and don't need the outside world invading my zen! The pool and hot tub are fantastic and the staff is beyond helpful and kind (especially Efran!). It was quiet, as it is an adult only hotel, so relaxation is easy. They serve a great margarita, shots and snack like foods. One block walk to Manny's and the beach. We will definitely be back to stay!

The hotel could really be 5 star. The rooms are clean, and beds are good. The staff were excellent all the way. I would stay again but I would take a taxi to another restaurant. I had Mediterranean Chicken for supper. It was to be a spinach stuff breast. I think it was a spinach spread. Very light on the spinach. A quarter of the breast was so over cooked it was like dry wood. The coffee was good. My wife had a hamburger and fries. Her fries were under cooked and tasted like the oil was old. We are not hard to please and I rarely send a plate back. But we left food on our plate. I wonder if the chicken chunk made a bang when it hit the trash can. So we tried breakfast. The food was all good. And service was all good. All the staff are good. But $500 pesos for two buffet breakfast is an American price un Mexico. I think for Mexico that is way over priced. Maybe I am already too displeased with the supper too accept $500 for two breakfast. So go ahead and stay there, but take a taxi and go find a place to eat. There are lots in the area.
