Overall it was a nice stay. The hotel is in a perfect location and it’s very cosy and peaceful. Reception staff was friendly and helpful. I was accommodated in a nice room with a pool and sea view. Faiz Haslan has also shared some information about the places to visit around, which was very helpful. Breakfasts were very nice, and there was a good food variety. Chinese New Year Eve’s dinner was excellent, great food variety and delicious. It would be good to have wifi available in the room and not only in the public areas.
I had a good experience staying here. The hotel is clean and well-maintained, and it’s very close to KPJ, which is convenient. However, the amenities could be improved.
Pro: Room is very spacious, comfy beds, strong water pressure, comes with bathtub & toilet amenities, bathrobe & clean towels, diff TV channels available, stable WiFi. Good location with ample car parks available. Swimming pool is great, kids love it!
Con: Not sparkly clean, just fine, pillows have stains if covers are removed, car park elevators & hotel room elevators are separated, AC just okay, not that cold, external windows are dirty, kinda run down a little bit, still have rooms for improvement as an “upscale/premium” hotel chain.
Damai Lagoon Resort is nestled between the Mountain Santubong and the South China Sea. The resort environment is serene tugged in a tropical rainforest setting. The area provides a tranquil retreat with dense jungles and sandy beaches. The Sarawak Cultural Village is located just a stone’s throw away. It is within 10 minutes walking distance.
We were given all sea-fronting views with one corner rooms on the 3rd floor. We could listen to the waves crashing on the beach during high tide. The spacious space coupled with modern shower amenities and comfortable bedding made our stay an enjoyable experience and we had a relaxing time there. The buffet breakfast served was sumptuous with wide spread of local cuisines.
We enjoyed swimming in the clean infinity pool in a sunset backdrop. There are many indoor games provided for the children. Thus, you will not get bored staying in this resort. The resort entrance is grand and the guest lounge is huge and beautiful overlooking the sea.
The resort staff members are very helpful and friendly. The resort is highly recommended if you want to have a relaxing holiday outside Kuching city.
Thank you.
They have waterslides, which is great for kids! However, we were on the 2nd floor and there was no elevator, which could be a hassle if you have a lot of luggage. Of course, the staff there can help you with your bags. The Chinese restaurant across the street is super delicious; the chef, originally from Guangdong, is excellent at preparing seafood.
I stayed in Grand Palace Hotel with my family over the weekend. This was my first visit and I am really impressed with the service of the hotel . Located in the heart of the town centre , great service from the staff and good cleanliness of the rooms.
I will definitely visit next time and recommend to everyone .
The wait staff at the restaurant are very attentive, fast and hospitable despite the hotel being full. A very pleasant eating experience. As for the shuttle service to the Mulu park, some kind of timing and system would have been helpful especially when hotel is full. Sometimes one is not sure how long to wait or if we should call. Coz when I called 2 vans showed up, and felt bad for the second driver that came.
Not aware that pullman was having some renovation and we need to take staircase to level 2 and get the lift to our room.
Also next day after cleaner done the room service noticed she pressed the toilet bowl flush button too hard and never bounced back caused water kept flushing nonstop. Lucky I have returned to hotel room as, forgot to take something and tried to pull that flush button up. I I felt still have room for improvement for quality or cleaner.
Overall the counter staffs and others are very friendly and helpful too.
Good location of this hotel and look forward again to stay hopefully the renovation done.
