Butterfly Princess Hotel
4.1/542 Reviews
We drove into Thailand early and was pleasantly surprised to find out that the hotel is very near the immigration checkpoint, good plus point. And its location is not difficult to find. Since we are early, we have requested from the hotels receptionist for an early check in, but a big group of motorcyclist was slowly checking out of the hotel room, and finally was given a room to check in early. They are in the process of building another butterfly princess building to support the existing building, thus those who are staying facing the carpark will need to tolerate the construction noise for a fair bit. Do note that the receptionist does not speak English, but was courteous. There is ample parking space with small shelter to shade your car with a security guard on duty 24/7. Will certainly come back and stay there again.
Betong Merlin Hotel

Location wise, it’s excellent. Smacked right in the middle of town. Walking distance to restaurants, cafes, clock tower, tunnel, and most attractions. Rooms are not well kept. I’ve got a bed sheet that was torn. Toilet taps that are loose. Noise levels near the discotheque next door is deafening especially if you’ve got a room that is near the corners next to it. Hot water is sporadic. WIFI is non existence once you get inside the room. Spotty at best if you stand at the room corridors. Air conditioning is central but there is no temperature control. So you are left feeling cold throughout the night. Now there are those of you who see this as a plus point. Nearby the hotel, there armed abundance of food choices within walking distance.
Grand Mandarin Betong Hotel
4/587 Reviews
My first road trip to Southern Thailand with my wife in early August 2019. We stayed at Mandarin Betong, a local owned hotel but it overall quality is comparable to international standard of a 4 Star but I was told it has been rated 5 Star in Betong. However, I did not see the display of Star at its reception area. Notwithstanding the rating, the hotel relatively inexpensive. It cost about RM100 for a double room. The food & beverages are also very reasonably priced with plenty of choices ranging from western, Thai, Chinese and also Malaysian food. The lobby is very tastefully designed with plenty of space for guests to relax while awaiting check-in or check-out. Parking space for both private cars or even coaches/buses are plenty and convenient. Betong Mandarin is located right next to the busy part of Betong commercial centre. Tourists just need a short walk to reach their favourite food outlets, shopping outlets and even the central wet markets which sell mango local agriculture produces. The town of Betong is well organised and this is the place where Malaysians from the northern region of Malaya like to frequent for a number of reasons. For the housewives, the food stuff, and kitchen appliances are the major objectives of their visits. For the single, Betong is a good place for a short trip to distress. Night life is free and easy with plenty of night clubs and massage parlours. Betong has also become a preferred tourist attraction to foreigners because of its greenery and comparatively it is also less expansive than other part of Thailand like Pataya, Phuket, Bangkok, etc.

Cathay Hotel

A run-down hotel, but central location. The management really need to look into/improve the cleanliness of all guest rooms. Upon check in, the reception will keep my passport (without signing any document). They will the passport to me once we check out. I'm very curious, whether the hotel has the right to do so?
