Tsitsikamma National Park is located in the Eastern Cape of South Africa and is part of the Garden Route National Park. The park stretches along the coast, and its marine protected area covers dozens of km of pristine coastline. The landscape here is diverse—indigenous forests spread along river valleys, cliffs plunge into the sea, mountain fynbos and coastal wilderness intermingle, and rivers rush from the inland to the sea, carving out deep canyon views. Storms River Mouth is the core area of the park. A suspension bridge spans the mouth, and walking on it offers a spectacular view of the river water meeting the ocean waves. Inside the park, there is a hiking trail stretching approx. 40+ km from Storms River to Nature's Valley, passing through beaches, cliffs, wilderness, and indigenous forests, offering panoramic views of the coastline along the way.South Africa · Western District

Knysna River

Knysna Riveris an estuary lagoon connected to the Indian Ocean, located next to the town of Knysna along the Garden Route in South Africa. At high tide, the water is vast and calm, resembling a giant mirror. As the tides change, sandbars are exposed in some areas, subtly altering the shoreline. Two headlands facing each other extend toward the center of the lagoon, causing the wide water surface to narrow abruptly here, forming a natural channel that connects the inner lagoon to the open sea. The headlands not only shape the unique spatial layout of the lagoon area but also act as a natural barrier, blocking some of the Indian Ocean's waves and keeping the waters inside relatively calm. Therefore, compared to the open sea, the interior of the lagoon is more suitable for water activities, with boat tours, kayaking, and sunset cruises all concentrated in this area. During the voyage, you can observe the natural view composed of the shoreline, headlands, and the open lagoon from the water.South Africa · Knysna

As the road continues forward, the mountain and sea views constantly change, making it especially suitable for parking at any time during a self-drive trip to enjoy the natural scenery. The natural scenery facilities along the route mainly consist of forest trails, coastal exploration routes, and viewing areas.South Africa · Plettenberg Bay

Kragga Kamma Game Parkis a natural game park that combines coastal forests, open grasslands, and wildlife viewing. Unlike the neatly divided enclosures of traditional zoos, the environment here is closer to a natural state, with forests and grasslands intertwined, allowing visitors to search for signs of animals in a relatively open space and experience the unique ecological view of South Africa's southeast coast. White rhinos, African buffaloes, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, and bonteboks live in this natural environment, and visitors can drive through the grasslands and woodlands to look for animals hidden in the bushes or grass. In addition to driving, the park also features forest trails, providing another way to explore for visitors who enjoy walking and getting close to nature.Port Elizabeth · 55.3km from Addo
Wilderness Beach

Wilderness Beach

5.8
Wilderness Beach is an open beach facing the Indian Ocean. Its west end connects to the mouth of the Caimans River, and it extends east to the area around the Tou River mouth, stretching for several kilometers. Backed by dunes covered in scrub and shea trees, with green hills visible in the distance, the overall view is wide and peaceful. The pale white sand is broad and gently sloping, and dolphins can often be seen along the shore. From about May to November each year, southern right whales and humpback whales migrate along the coast, and you may spot whales from the beach or from higher points on the shore. The main surf zone has waves year-round and is suitable for surfing. The beach is also good for walking, sunbathing, and swimming. On clear days you can see paragliders launch from the cliff top and glide along the coast toward the beach. The Tou River lagoon behind the dunes has relatively calm water, suitable for swimming and other water activities. A wooden boardwalk to the beach crosses the dunes, making access easier while reducing impact on dune vegetation.South Africa · Wilderness

Storms River bridge spans the mouth of the Storms River in the Tsitsikamma region along the Garden Route in South Africa and is a popular pedestrian suspension bridge within the Tsitsikamma section of the Garden Route National Park. The river water, stained reddish-brown by forest tannins, emerges from the deep gorge and collides head-on with the waves of the Indian Ocean here, with the suspension bridge hanging just approx. 7m above the churning water. Walking on the bridge, the structure sways slightly with your steps, with the roar of waves crashing against the reefs beneath your feet and steep cliffs covered in primeval forest on both sides. Tall yellowwood trees, wild figs, and various ferns grow on both sides of the walkway, and you might catch a glimpse of the brightly colored Knysna turaco. African black oystercatchers and Cape cormorants are commonly seen on the coastal reefs, dolphins sometimes appear in the nearshore waters, and during whale-watching season, you may even spot southern right whales passing near the shore.South Africa · Western District
Knysna Heads

Knysna Heads

5.4
5.0/5
1 reviews
Knysna Heads are two sandstone headlands facing each other where the Knysna River flows into the Indian Ocean. The east and west headlands flank the outlet from the lagoon to the open sea, with calm lagoon waters inside and crashing waves outside, creating a coastal view of both tranquility and motion. The channel at the head is narrow and the tides are swift, and ships surveying the waterway in the early 19th century encountered danger here. In the shallow waters of Fountain Point on the east side, you can still see the wreckage of the Paquita, which contrasts with the steep cliffs. The tour mainly focuses on the eastern headland. The observation deck at the summit offers an overlook of the lagoon and distant mountains, as well as the vast Indian Ocean. Walking along the trail below the cliffs, you can observe the shipwreck remains up close. The nearby small bay is shaded by milkwood trees, and the water is relatively clear, making it suitable for snorkeling and fish watching. You can also take a boat through the lagoon and the head to admire the cliffs on both sides from the water. The western headland belongs to a private nature reserve and requires a guided tour to access. The currents at the head are swift, so swimming is not recommended except in designated areas.South Africa · Knysna

It‘s a beautiful game reserve, not nearly as crowded with tourists as Kruger and it has almost as much to offer! You are sure to see elephants here! We saw baby elephants, eating elephants, fighting elephants, etc. We basically just got to see the elephants living their life and it was really cool! Apparently there are some big cats around, but we didn’t see any personally. Of course, there are plenty of other animals to be seen here!

Tsitsikamma National Park is the most famous national park in South Africa. It is mainly composed of valleys and rivers with extremely magnificent scenery. There are both high mountain cliffs and open bays. It definitely gives people a sense of relaxation and freedom as well as the vastness of the sea and sky.

Knysna Coral Lake is the estuary of the Ness River in Cape Town. It is a large lagoon formed by changes in the siltation terrain. The entire lake is about five kilometers in size and the water is clear. Because the lakeside is full of reed swamps and the natural environment is good, it has become a paradise for migratory birds to reproduce. In the green mountains and clear waters, the Coral Lake is like a dazzling pearl that is intoxicating.

The Storm River Suspension Bridge is the most spectacular bridge in Chichikamma National Park. It spans over a very deep river valley, with a vertical distance of more than 30 meters from the ground. The wind on the bridge is very strong, and the scenery on both sides is really beautiful.

The park is very large and beautiful. The weather was very good when we arrived, with blue sky and white clouds. It was just a little bit sunny, but the beautiful scenery was still very unforgettable. It is a very relaxing place.
