Budir Church

Budir Churchis a small, all-black wooden church located in Búðir on the south coast of the Snæfellsnes peninsula, and it is one of the few black churches in Iceland. Its black exterior is due to the traditional method of coating the wood with tar to protect it against sea winds and the damp climate, which has, in turn, given it a highly recognizable appearance. The church stands on the Búðahraun lava field, surrounded by black lava covered in moss, and on clear days, you can see the white ice cap of the Snæfellsjökull glacier in the distance. The stark contrast between the green moss in summer or white snow in winter and the black church, combined with the serene cemetery enclosed by low stone walls, makes it a popular spot for photography enthusiasts on the Snæfellsnes peninsula.Snaefellsbaer · 12.9km from Arnarstapi

Londrangar Basalt Cliffsare located within Snæfellsjökull National Park on the south coast of Snæfellsnes, Iceland, and are two basalt sea stacks rising from the Atlantic Ocean. The taller one is approx. 75 m and the shorter one is approx. 61 m. Their sharp outlines resemble a castle from a distance, earning them the nickname Castle of Rocks. They are the remnants of an ancient volcanic crater that collapsed and were shaped into their current form by long years of erosion from waves and wind. In the past, they also served as a natural landmark for fishermen to identify their position along the coast. The cliffs where the sea stacks are located are a breeding ground for puffins, kittiwakes, fulmars, and guillemots, with dense flocks of birds from late spring to summer, making it one of the iconic spots for viewing puffins on Snæfellsnes. Follow the well-marked trail to the clifftop viewing platform to overlook the two stacks and the black lava coast. On clear days, you can also see the nearby Snæfellsjökull glacier, and the evening light is particularly suitable for photography.Snaefellsbaer · 8.6km from Arnarstapi

Kirkjufell(meaning "Church Mountain" in Icelandic) stands on the north coast of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula in Iceland, next to the town of Grundarfjörður. The entire mountain sits on a small peninsula surrounded by the sea on three sides, with its broad base extending directly into the water. The mountain's shape resembles a pointed straw hat resting by the sea, which is why it is often nicknamed "Hat Mountain" by tourists. The mountain walls are formed by layers of tilted rock stacked upwards, and the peak, at an altitude of over 400 m, has a distinct outline, making it one of the most recognizable landmarks in Iceland. A stream winds around one side of the foot of the mountain, and the adjacent Kirkjufellsfoss is a classic foreground for photography. The composition of the waterfall, the solitary peak, and the sea creates a powerful visual, and photography enthusiasts often wait here for the perfect light. In summer, there is the midnight sun, while in winter, it is a popular spot for photographing the northern lights, with green bands of light looking especially stunning against the silhouette of the mountain. It is also the filming location for the "Arrowhead Mountain" beyond the Wall in seasons 6 and 7 of the TV series Game of Thrones, and fans of the show might want to compare the scenes from the show to find the familiar outline. For most tourists, taking photos along the short trail next to the waterfall is enough to capture the classic composition. If you want to reach the summit, the ridge route is steep and slippery, suitable only for experienced climbers attempting it in summer with a guide. For the average tourist, viewing it from a distance is more than enough.Grundarfjardarbaer · 24.4km from Arnarstapi

The Baldur statue of Snæfellsnes is an iconic landmark of Arnarstapi, a fishing village on the Snæfellsnes peninsula in Iceland, created by Icelandic sculptor Ragnar Kjartansson as a massive stone monument. The statue commemorates the legendary figure Baldur from the ancient Icelandic saga Baldur's saga, a half-man, half-giant guardian who is said to have been a hero during Iceland's settlement era and who, after family strife, walked alone onto the Snæfell glacier and became a protective spirit of the peninsula whom people pray to for protection in times of danger. An inscription beside the statue records the legend in Icelandic, and the surrounding coastal trail offers views of dramatic basalt cliffs and the vast Atlantic Ocean.Arnarstapi · 390m from downtown
Djúpalónssandur beach

Djúpalónssandur beach

4.3
Djúpalónssandur beach is renowned for its natural beauty and historical relics. The beach is scattered with the wreckage of old fishing boats, and visitors can stroll along the trails to enjoy the tranquility of nature. Located at the western end of Snæfellsnes, the black pebble coast and basalt columns create a surreal, lunar-like landscape. Rusted iron anchors and gears left behind by a British trawler that ran aground in 1948 are scattered along the shore, serving as silent witnesses to maritime history. At low tide, four Viking-era lifting stones are visible, which ancient fishermen once used to test their strength. Behind the beach, the lava landscape is rugged and undulating, with Arctic terns and auks nesting on the jagged cliffs. From the viewing platform, you can take in the magnificent view of waves crashing against the Lóndrangar sea stacks. The strong contrast between the silvery-gray waves and the black beach makes this an excellent spot for photographers seeking minimalist compositions.Snaefellsbaer · 13.2km from Arnarstapi

Ingjaldshóll Churchis located on a hillside on the north side of the Snæfellsnes peninsula in Iceland, between the towns of Hellissandur and Rif. The church features white walls and a bright red roof, with a simple, clean design, and is surrounded by open, sparsely populated pastures. Completed in 1903, it is one of the earliest concrete churches built in Iceland and was gifted a replica of the altarpiece from the Reykjavik Lutheran Cathedral upon its completion. Today, most visitors come here to take photos, framing the white walls and red roof in the foreground against the distant mountains and glaciers for a clean, clear composition; when the light is slanted in the early morning or evening, the color of the red roof is particularly vibrant, making it easier to capture photos with distinct layers.Snaefellsbaer · 18.8km from Arnarstapi

Considering the symbolism of black in Christianity, you'll understand what this church is for. However, the illuminated cross in the adjacent garden is quite unique.

Snæfellsjökull is a dormant volcano in Reykjavik. It is one of the famous peaks. It is very spectacular, but climbing the mountain requires physical strength and perseverance. It is worth a visit.

冰岛西部的教会山 (Kirkjufell) 是一座海边的小山峰,之所以教会山出名是因为几幅很漂亮照片吸引了很多人来这里拍照,不过白天看上去也不耀眼。
