Shotover Jet Queenstown

Shotover Jet Queenstown is the iconic speedboating experience in Queenstown, operating continuously in the Shotover Canyon since the 1960s and having hosted millions of travelers. It is also the only commercial speedboat company permitted to operate in this section of the canyon river. The river channel was formed by years of erosion from rapid currents, with nearly vertical rock walls on both sides enclosing the water surface. Located less than a ten-minute drive from Queenstown town center, it is now owned and operated by the local Māori tribe, Ngāi Tahu, whose ancestors once traveled this waterway to gather food and greenstone. The bright red speedboats are locally built in Queenstown, specifically designed for the canyon river. Each boat can carry over ten passengers and is powered by twin V8 engines, using jet propulsion for movement, steering, and control—allowing it to skim at speeds of nearly 90 km/h in water as shallow as approx. 10 cm. The entire experience lasts approx. 25 minutes, featuring continuous sharp turns and cliff-hugging maneuvers from the moment you depart the dock. Skilled drivers take you at high speed through whitewater rapids and tight bends, performing thrilling close-to-the-wall stunts, including the signature 360-degree spin at full throttle, sending water splashing into your face as if the boat has lifted off the surface. Life jackets and storage lockers are provided on board. As the spins generate significant splashes, it is advisable to prepare to get wet. During colder seasons, extra attention to warmth is recommended.New Zealand · Queenstown

Milford Sound is a world-famous natural wonder, a glacial landform located in the South West Fiordland National Park on the South Island of New Zealand. Steep, jagged cliffs emerge from calm, dark waters, lush rainforest grows on the rock walls, and waterfalls plunge hundreds of meters into the sea. 1. The beautiful road in the world The road from Queenstown to the Fiordland is known as one of the most beautiful roads in the world. Along the way, it passes many scenic spots, such as Mirror Lake, trails, and Homer Tunnel. Many small waterfalls formed by melting snow. 2. Enjoy the scenery of the fjord by cruise ship The water tour of Milford Sound is the main way to enjoy the beauty of the fjord. After the sightseeing boat slowly leaves the pier of Milford Sound, you can see the The Baowen Waterfall is more than 100 meters high. When the wind is strong, the water of the waterfall will splash on the pier. On the opposite side of the waterfall is a small gravel pile called a small cemetery, which is the resting place of the whalers and sealers who lived nearby. Continue to drive forward, and on the left is the towering Matthew Peak, which stands directly on the sea. On the other side are Lion Mountain and Elephant Mountain, with very vivid names. Not far away is Tongjiao, which is the relatively channel of the fjord. When the wind is strong, it passes through the mountains, and the wind is amazing. When the boat comes to the Fairy Falls, the bow of the boat will meet directly below the waterfall, and the water of this waterfall is drinkable. After looking at the Tasman Sea from the boat, the boat will slowly turn around and re-enter the fjord, and a fjord cruise is basically complete. Airplane tours and sea kayaking tours are two other great ways to experience mountains, waterfalls, and sheer cliffs. There are also sightseeing boats with underwater viewing windows, allowing tourists to observe coral reefs and other marine landscapes from the bottom of the water. Dolphins, fjord penguins, seals and other aquatic creatures can also be seen in the fjord, especially in the seal headland where a large number of young seals often gather. 3. One of the filming locations of "The Lord of the Rings" As one of the filming locations of "The Lord of the Rings", it attracts many fans to this place.New Zealand · Milford Sound

167 reviews
RealNZ | Walter Peak High Country Farm is located on the southwest shore of Lake Wakatipu on New Zealand's South Island, facing Queenstown across the lake. Visitors typically take a boat from Queenstown wharf, with the approximately 45-minute lake cruise itself being a scenic journey. This highland farm has been settled by European immigrants since the second half of the 19th century, with its peak period spanning tens of thousands of hectares of pasture and tens of thousands of sheep. The Colonel's Homestead by the lake, built in 1902 with white walls and a red roof surrounded by garden lawns, resembles a fairytale castle from afar. The farm maintains authentic highland ranch activities: travelers can hand-feed shaggy Scottish Highland cattle with curved horns, as well as merino sheep, alpacas, and red deer; watch trained sheepdogs expertly herd flocks on the slopes, then catch a traditional sheep-shearing show at the outdoor theater. Those who enjoy riding can join a guide for a leisurely ride along the lakeside peninsula. After exploring, visitors can relax at the lakeside café with freshly baked English scones and hot tea. Backed by Walter Peak and facing the azure lake, the farm offers panoramic views of Queenstown and surrounding mountains - perfect for family-friendly outings and travelers seeking authentic New Zealand farm culture. As mountain weather changes quickly, remember to bring a windproof jacket.New Zealand · Queenstown

The town of Bluff in Invercargill, the southernmost tip of the New Zealand mainland (except Stewart Island), is 3,000 kilometers away from the Antarctic continent. The oysters here are very famous. It's a pity that we went there at the wrong season. If you are lucky in autumn and winter, you can also see the gorgeous Aurora Australis. It was a pity that my friend saw it the next day after we left. There is a famous sign at the Stirling Point landmark here, which shows the distance to various parts of the world and the distance to Antarctica. You can also drive to the top of Bluff Hill, where there is a circular observation deck, where you can see Bluff Harbor and the vast South Pacific Ocean.

The Skyline Gondola is the highest point in Queenstown, offering panoramic views of the town and the lake, a completely different experience from looking down from below. Lunch was also a good experience; the lamb chops were delicious. Many people say the menu isn't extensive, but most restaurants there serve similar dishes, so they're generally not that different. The main advantage was that I got a buy-one-get-one-free ticket, so lunch was essentially free.

It was definitely worth it. The driver was very passionate about his job, performing several 360-degree spins and speeding between cliffs – it was incredibly thrilling. There's also a bar and restaurant nearby with a great atmosphere and good value for money.

Invercargill's famous water tower is located on Doon Street. It is 42.5 meters high and was built in 1889. The main purpose of going to Invercargill is to take a heritage tour of New Zealand architecture. Generally, half a day is enough, and it is worth the trip.

Milford Sound is one of the most iconic natural landscapes on New Zealand's South Island, often hailed as the "Eighth Wonder of the World," and a UNESCO World Heritage Site within Fiordland National Park. The most classic experience here is a boat tour. The boat glides through the dark waters of the fjord, flanked by steep cliffs carved by glaciers. Mettler Peak soars into the clouds, and Bowen and Stirling Falls flow year-round. After rain, countless temporary waterfalls cascade down the cliffs, creating a truly breathtaking spectacle. With luck, you might spot seals basking on the rocks, or even encounter dolphins and Fiordland penguins. Overall, Milford Sound isn't a "check-off" destination; it's best enjoyed at a leisurely pace. The waterfalls are often more spectacular on rainy days, so don't let rain deter you from your trip. If you have ample time, consider departing from Te Anau or opting for an overnight cruise to avoid the daytime crowds and create a more immersive experience.

From the first floor of the steamship, you can see how the steam is generated, and there are people responsible for burning coal. To be honest, the buffet wasn't very good; the dishes were mainly beef, lamb, and pork, with a small amount of vegetables and desserts. There wasn't enough variety or variety. However, the view and ambiance were excellent. The sheep shearing show was great; the staff worked very hard, which was commendable. However, it wasn't particularly entertaining. Overall, it's good for enjoying the scenery. If you book the BBQ meal, the meal lasts nearly 4 hours. It's worth experiencing.
