Things to do in Dambulla

Fantastic visit and the highlight of our 1 day tour from Colombo. There is a water station halfway if you need to refill your bottle and on less busy days there is some limited shade at the top. Breathtaking views from the top.

While Dambulla Cave Temple has historical significance and some impressive Buddha statues, it didn’t feel particularly remarkable. The cave interiors are interesting, but compared to other cultural sites in Sri Lanka, it may not stand out. It’s an okay visit if you’re in the area, but not a must-see.

It was a great rock climbing experience, especially suitable for taking children to play!

One of the worthwhile activities in Sri Lanka is to visit wild elephants. You will take a local jeep. Then you will go through the jungle of the reserve to look for elephants. You can see interesting Asian elephants here. It is worth it.
