Very well guided. Peaceful ceremony, and we got to try making our own matcha in the end. Harder than it looks! But a very fun experience with a little bit of history behind. Would recommend.

Absolutely loved this tour! Yasushi, our tour guide was knowledgeable, personable and funny, and even made a history lesson interesting. We loved wandering around Shirakawa-go sampling the local delicacies - we went in Winter, so eating a piping hot Higa beef croquette was just magical! We went on the full day tour which was a good mix of nature, tradition and craft. Would recommend this tour to anyone.

I wasn't the biggest fan of the basic kimonos (not because they were ugly, it's just that my skin is really pale and soft colors don't flatter me), but your options expand if you pay a little more, the price was rational. The dressing process is a cool experience to watch, the female-workers did an excellent job and behaved really kindly. You must return the kimono relatively early but you may do it the next day if you also pay for it (I didn't do it, however, I appreciated having the choice).


