Reviews: Auckland: Rotorua Tour with Mitai Māori Village & Wai-O-Tapu

I enjoyed the cultural immersion into Māori traditions—it was both enriching and eye-opening to learn about their history, performances, and way of life. The warmth and hospitality made the experience feel authentic and memorable. Following that, the thermal wonders of Rotorua were equally fascinating. From bubbling mud pools to steaming geysers, it was like stepping into another world shaped by nature’s raw power. The combination of cultural depth and geothermal marvels gave me a well-rounded sense of what Rotorua is all about: a place where heritage and natural beauty meet in a say trip

Our guide was great. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Even though it was a large group I feel we were able to hear and see everything. Would definitely recommend.

Our tour guide was very informative and passionate about what she did. We learnt a lot about the Māori culture and enjoyed seeing the beautiful geothermal landscape in Te Puia. Our kids also loved seeing the baby Kiwi on site. The whole attraction was very clean and well maintained. We would highly recommend visiting this place.

Such a great trip! Grant (or Grant but in a kiwi accent) was a great tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and taught us a lot about the culture and history during the long van rides. Glowworm caves were cool but the highlight for me was definitely the geysers. The whole experience was great and am so grateful that they offer a trip like this including transport since Rotorua is quite a distance away. Note: this experience did not include a Māori performance or haka. If I read the description better I wouldve known that but that is the only thing I was a little bummed about. The experience is great, but just note what is actually included if thats what you are looking for.

Excellent day spent amongst great native species. Great bird sightings. Our guide Vishnu was great. An absolute legend and we even saw a Tuatara in the wild. His knowledge of the flaura and fauna was amazing. Vishnu melded our group into a tight unit and we stayed together right to the end. If you can find this 81 year old legend of Tiro Tiri Matangi find the elderly Indian man amongst the guides. Great visit totally recommended.

It was a fantastic day!! We had perfect weather, and Sebastian guided us through the day in a very humorous, informative, and safe manner. From pick-up to drop-off, everything was very well organized with plenty of breaks during the drive and several stops for photos on the way there. A packed lunch was included on the boat trip! 100% recommendation!
