Reviews: Wieliczka Salt Mine: Guided Tour from Krakow (with hotel pickup)
Guest User2026-01-03
I visited the Wieliczka Salt Mine on December 28th and the experience was captivating from start to finish. Despite the Christmas season and the high attendance, the organization was very efficient, and the visit went smoothly without excessive waiting. Tickets cost €34. The guided tour takes you progressively deeper, reaching 135 meters underground. You pass through corridors, rooms carved from salt, and rooms that recount centuries of mining history. The most spectacular spot is the Chapel of St. Kinga, a huge underground church made entirely of salt: altars, chandeliers, bas-reliefs, and floors carved with incredible precision. The soft lighting creates an almost unreal atmosphere, made even more evocative during the Christmas season. The internal temperature is constant and pleasant, making the visit comfortable even in the dead of winter. The tour requires some walking, but is well-structured and suitable for everyone. The final part is surprising: after completing the itinerary, the ascent takes place via a mine elevator that brings you back to the surface in about 30 seconds.

The activity was perfectly organized. The guide was punctual and friendly. The guided tour (in impeccable French) was very interesting and informative. There was a lot of walking (but all downhill). A good level of fitness for walking is necessary.

We did the Auschwitz- Birkenau trip in May this year, Our trip was very well organised from collection from our hotel in Krakow to our return. Our tour guide was excellent, he was very professional and spoke very good English. People should be aware that this trip involves a lot of walking and there are quite a few stairs to climb especially during the Auschwitz part of the tour, the walkways are also uneven. On arrival we were give our ticket by our driver, we were told we needed passports or photo ID to gain entry and were to be searched. It’s just like going through airport security and not a problem.
