Lawrence was the best tour guide. He was personable, kind, and very knowledgable. You can tell he really loves what he does. Lawrence felt more like a friend than a guide. He brought the energy when we needed it, and he was very comfortable with the establishments we visited. We felt we were in great hands the whole trip! Great day trip in the Douro from Porto. We were a small group of 8 in a van. Our guide, Phillip was generous in information and tips. We visited two small family wineries, who took plenty of time to give us a tour and provided plenty of explanations. The local expert André at the first and the owner of the second, Elizabeth, were very passionnate about their craft. We did a short cruise on the Douro and admired the views while two young guides explained to us their life in Portugal. We had a homemade meal of excellent local delicacies at the first winery. Much more local and personalized than a tour at the big wineries with a big bus…★

The place is beautiful! Many thanks to everyone in the family, especially Mrs. Marta who, with patience and kindness, explained everything from the history of the winery to the cultivation of the grapes, which are very sweet and flavorful, and the winemaking process. Besides the wines we tasted and approved, the olive oil they make on-site is also delicious, light and flavorful, and the honey is wonderful. My family and I went, and we chose the place because it's pet-friendly. From the beginning, they were patient and caring with my little dog, who is reactive, but who, a short time later, was already calm and feeling "at home," running freely. The conversation flowed in a relaxed way, as if we were old friends. Everything was very good and perfect! We will definitely return to stay in the apartments there. I highly recommend it!★

We had a special experience at Quinta de Santa Júlia, nestled in the extraordinary landscape of the Douro Valley, home to some of Portugal's finest wines. During the visit, we tasted two Douro wines and two Port wines, each with its own distinct identity, capable of revealing the history of the region in a single sip. We also sampled an excellent local extra virgin olive oil, intense and rooted in the region's agricultural traditions.
Our guide, Mariana, passionately shared the history of the estate and the family, even recalling how their wines reached the royal family of England. She explained the Douro castes, winemaking methods, and how to approach wine with greater awareness.
The tour took us through vineyards, gardens, and even into the Quinta's traditional kitchen, making the visit complete and immersive. A journey through flavors, history, and traditions that we recommend without hesitation.
