We visited in November on a weekday. Lesser crowd and the weather was perfect, sunny between 10°C & 15°C. Our tour came with a guide who got us the tickets and planned the hiking routes, covering every "tourist-must-see" parts of the mountain.
The buffet lunch recommended by the guide at ¥98/pax up on the mountains is a really good deal too.
Huangshan is NO JOKE. The 8km up and down the steps lasted for almost 6 hours, excluding the one-way 20mins shuttle bus ride & one-way 10mins cable car ride. At the end of the tour our legs were not cooperative anymore.
Besides the breathtaking views, it was also heartbreaking to see elderly potters carrying approximately 180 catties (about 108kg!) of goods up and down the mountains. They are literally breaking their backs 😭! Some even stopped and asked passers-by for water / food. Would forming a bucket brigade or a human chain be workable?★

I booked a Yangmingshan & Beitou Tour for 2 adults and a 2-year-old toddler, and we were joined by 5 other adults. Our tour guide, Vanness Hsu, was fluent in English, very knowledgeable about all the places we visited, and encouraged interaction with and among the tourists. Our tour from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. was well maximized, and all the stops in our itinerary were covered without any compromises.
Overall, my family and I were very happy with Vanness’ service. We truly appreciated his professionalism and warm personality, which made the entire experience stress-free, enjoyable, informative, and memorable. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Taipei, especially with family.★

I must give our tour guide, Mr. Mu, a five-star rating! The entire route was exceptionally well-planned, avoiding detours and rushing. His explanations at each attraction were packed with valuable information; he didn't just recite lines but also shared many local historical anecdotes and hidden gems, making the tour captivating. When elderly people or children fell behind, he would proactively slow down to help with luggage and find rest areas – incredibly thoughtful. Furthermore, there was absolutely no hard selling; it was a truly immersive experience. I'll definitely use him again next time I'm here!★

We bought this ticket and secured seats on a bus back to Huanglong Jiuzhai Station. These buses are scheduled to the train times and we arrived about 40 minutes before our train departure, with enough time to clear security, use the restroom, and board the train. You will be notified which bus you should board (match the license plate) to ensure you get on the right bus where a seat is reserved for you.
