I loaded a data-only Trip.com eSim prior to leaving Australia and used it during a 5 day business trip to Singapore. As promised it did not activate until I had landed and logged onto the local network. Everyone uses WhatsApp in Asia so voice comms were easy. Trip.com has an incredible variety of eSims to choose from and is a very simple service to use. No dashboards, no compliacetd logons, it just works.★

The internet worked perfectly in China and Japan throughout the entire two-week trip. Initially, the network didn't show up after installing the eSIM, but after restarting the iPhone, everything worked again. The network was automatically found fairly quickly after changing countries.
