What a great place, steeped in history, finally got to go. The entrance fee wasn't expensive, and while they said a guided tour was included, they still managed to steer the conversation towards paid services. Many of the calligraphers and painters inside charged money. They offered a small boat, but even singing required payment. You felt obligated to pay, so they might as well have just said 10 yuan per person per boat, and I was starving!

Just a heads up, there's a tunnel under construction at Shanglongmen, so I recommend going up from Xialongmen, as you'll have more places to visit that way.
