Reviews: Sea waves sri lankan cooking class

The cooking class with Susanthi was a wonderful experience for our family (teenage girls age 13 and 16). The visit to the fish market and vegetable market to select the ingredients for the meal was a real highlight. Susanthi is a wealth of knowledge and the cooking tuition was friendly, relaxed and helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend this cooking experience to any travellers. The meal we all cooked and shared together at the end was incredible. Best wishes Susanthi and THANK YOU!

We went on a tour off-season and were alone. We were picked up from our villa by tuk-tuk and taken to the market just before it opened. They explained every vegetable in detail, and we bought some to take home. We arrived at a beautiful rural house with a clay kitchen. It was very well-kept, with beautiful, authentic clay pots and walls. Polite and pleasant women helped us cook. They described and demonstrated the entire process, introducing us to the spices and cooking process in great detail; we even grated coconut into shavings using a very unusual local tool. A delicious, aromatic, and heartwarming master class. We wish good luck and prosperity to this wonderful family. They even sent us some recipes after the tour.

An amazing experience from start to finish. The trip by tuk tuk to the market to buy the fresh ingredients was wonderful and we were treated to a thorough explanation of every vegetable at the market stall. We got to choose the vegetables for the curries. Back to the restaurant to learn how to cook them. Wasantha is a treasure and so happy to share her knowledge. All the explanations are clear and there’s some hands on opportunities to get involved with the cooking. And then you get to sit down and eat it all! Before you leave you are given lots of recipes sent electronically, all hand written. This is my favourite thing we’ve done in Sri Lanka so far and it’s so nice that it’s a family set up. Highly highly recommend. Book it, you won’t regret it
