The internet is okay, but the signal is weak in some areas in Kyoto. We bought 2GB per day, but it wasn't enough. Every day, it runs out at 5 PM. After it runs out, it's incredibly slow, making it almost impossible to do anything. If you're using it a lot to browse maps, use Instagram or TikTok, I recommend 5GB per day. It's better to have some extra than not enough, because it can be really difficult to search without internet.

During this trip to Japan, I used an eSIM for the first time instead of a traditional physical SIM card or rented Wi-Fi router, and the overall experience was much more convenient than I expected. Before leaving, I purchased a Japanese eSIM. The purchase process was quite simple; after payment, I received a QR code. Upon arriving in Japan, I simply scanned the QR code in my phone's settings to install it directly. There was no need to change cards or worry about losing my original SIM card, which was very user-friendly for someone like me who dislikes hassle.

Very fast to activate line and most of the time we get 5G connection. It’s very much cheaper than renting a WiFi device or buying SIM card in Japan. Will book this again in the future.
