For my 6-day, 5-night trip, I bought a 5-day Kansai Wide Area Rail Pass. It was an incredible value! It took me from Kansai Airport to my hotel, then to Himeji Castle, then to the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge. Then, I went to Wakayama and Shirahama, even using the Kodama Tram at Kishike Station, and finally back to Kansai Airport. It was incredibly practical and saved me money!

Great choice for foreigners travelling between Kinki, Chugoku (San’yo), and Kyushu. Easy to pick-up in the automated counters by simply using the QR code. It can be used on the ferry operated by JR West in Itsukushima.

You CANNOT use the Shinkansen from Kyoto to Osaka! However, you can take JR trains on Line A, usually from platform 5 or 6 to Shin Osaka, and then transfer to any Shinkansen train to Hiroshima. Alternatively, you can book through the Thunderbird terminal. The terminal only allows 6 seat reservations, each of which counts. If you book Kyoto - Shin-Osaka - Hiroshima, you get 2 reservations. The terminals are green or purple. Select a Coupon Ticket. Insert your JR pass into the machine; you can insert up to 4 passes in a row (if you're traveling with a group). Select the date/time/departure and arrival stations/look up a suitable route/select seats. Collect your tickets and pass. Insert 2 tickets into the turnstile – the pass and the seat ticket. Before boarding the ferry to Miyajima, pay the Visitor Tax (100 yen per person) at the terminals on the side. Use your JR Pass and this ticket to board the ferry. There's no need to pay the return fee.

The 7-day tour of Seto Inland Sea is a must-choice, and the price is super high. This time, I took the Yamyang Shinkansen Hakata-Hiroshima-Tao-Okama-Osaka, Hiroshima-Matsuyama ferry, and also went to the famous punching point Xiatan Station.
