I can’t say enough about 王雅楠. He was our guide and proved to be absolutely incredible. What impressed us most was his great willingness to help with everything we needed. Language was never a barrier to his kindness and professionalism. He went far beyond the call of duty, whether it was helping us navigate unfamiliar areas, translating and communicating, or just being patient and resourceful when communication was challenging. His dedication and genuine desire to make our experience great shone through every interaction. He communicated with gestures, smiles, and a can-do attitude that made us feel welcome and cared for. It’s rare to find someone so committed to their work and to their passengers’ wellbeing. If you’re looking for a reliable, helpful, and genuinely kind guide, 王雅楠 is your person. We booked this day trip to Xilamuren Prairies for 2 people and had a good experience overall. The team contacted us on WeChat the day before to confirm pick-up from our hotel near Dazhao Temple. We travelled by minibus with 5 other travellers, a guide and a driver. During the journey, our guide, Wu Rina, shared information about Inner Mongolian culture in Mandarin and used translation apps on her phone to explain the optional activities in English. Each activity costs extra. We chose the 40-minute horse ride, which we really enjoyed. Although it was not the green season, the landscapes were still peaceful and impressive, with very few tourists. Lunch included traditional clothing, music, drinks and a shared meal inside yurts. Before returning, we stopped at a local ethnic museum and souvenir shop. A special thank you to Wu Rina for being cheerful, helpful, and always making the effort to communicate with us in English.

I really liked this day trip from Hohhot! ☺️ A day well spent outside the city and get a feel of the Inner Mongolian countryside and the stunning geological park! Be aware, it is a Chinese group tour, so the main language will be Chinese, no problem in my opinion, just make sure you are not missing out on any important info (meeting points/time), also I was really lucky to have such a friendly driver and other group participants who made sure I was taken care of😊 Also be aware that if you want to take a tour through the grassland in an offroad vehicle that will be an extra service to pay for (which is fair enough as the tour itself is pretty affordable)! And think about what you wanna see in the geological park because it’s a lot bigger than I thought! I joined as a solo traveller (after making sure with the service team that it was okay since the minimum amount of participants you have to select is 2 - be prepared to pay for 2 tho, in case there aren’t enough other participants)
