Reviews: From Cebu: Oslob Whale Shark Encounter + Moalboal Sardine Run Snorkeling | Full-Day Marine Adventure
Guest User2026-02-14
I took this tour yesterday. Perhaps due to the Lunar New Year, it was busier than I expected. When I arrived in Oslob at 7:30 AM, I was told there would be a three- to four-hour wait for snorkeling. After waiting for about two hours, they carefully explained to me that depending on the wave conditions, we might not be able to go out any further that day, that we might not see any whale sharks, and that if we switched to diving for an additional fee, we could get back in the water straight away. They didn't push me at all, but simply told me the facts honestly, leaving us the choice between spending money on a guaranteed experience or waiting and hoping for luck. We decided to go diving, and it was the best decision. By taking the last available dive slot, I was able to dive deep into the ocean and enjoy beautiful coral reefs, colorful fish, sea turtles, and, most of all, actually swimming with whale sharks, for an unforgettable experience. We heard that the whale sharks had left just as our dive finished, and it really dawned on us how close we were to missing them. I'm truly grateful to the staff for honestly explaining the situation to us. The time we spent with the schools of sardines and sea turtles that followed was also amazing, but swimming with the whale sharks was truly a special and wonderful memory for us. The entire tour was organized very smoothly. However, since the 4am departure is a relatively late start, it's best to keep in mind that there may be long wait times depending on the group, and that seeing a whale shark is not guaranteed, as you're dealing with nature. Even so, this experience was one that made me truly glad I participated! Thank you so much.

Reviews: Oslob Whale Shark Watching + Moalboal Sardines Storm Snorkeling one-day tour

The staff contacted me quickly. The driver was professional, friendly, and considerate, a great help, and the trip went very smoothly with no wasted time. The whale shark and sardine sights were especially beautiful. Most importantly, their prices are lower than other companies, they have a single-person option, it's very safe, and the lunch was delicious.
Reviews: Bohol-Oslob round-trip boat ticket | Efficient round-trip route for quick whale shark viewing

The ticket purchasing process is very convenient. It's best to arrive at Momo Beach at 5:40 AM, check in your ticket, and pay an extra 100 pesos for your suitcase, if you have one. People are taken to the ship by boat, and to reach the boat, you have to walk through the water. The water is above your knees.
Reviews: Snorkeling with Whale Sharks of Oslob and Sardines in Moalboal with Tumalog Falls

Oslob is a long way from Cebu, so the excursion started at 4 a.m. The car was comfortable, and we managed to get a nap on the way. Upon arrival, a local guide met us, held a queue, and took us to breakfast at a cafe with a beautiful view. We ate mango rice and our hotel lunchbox, changed into swim clothes, and waited comfortably. At the right moment, we returned to the pier, rented a GoPro, and boarded the boat. The ride lasts 30 minutes, and the sharks are amazing. Then we went to a waterfall, stood under the streams, and swam. We returned to the same cafe for lunch. This is probably the biggest drawback: the food was really bad, really bad. Then we headed to Moalboal. The sardine dive was well organized, and we even saw a turtle. Keep in mind that the sardines are quite deep, so it's difficult to reach them with a mask, and without fins, you can't – you have to look from above. Overall, the excursion was great, despite the lunch mishap.
