I activated the eSIM before arriving in Indonesia; it's important to know that it requires an internet connection. Once I arrived, the data was activated and I was able to get internet access there—it's really cheap.

I bought another one for a trip to Phuket. Installation was easy and didn't require anything special. If there's a problem, just check if roaming is enabled. The signal was good all the way, so I didn't need a complicated physical SIM card. Basically, every time I travel, I'll look for an eSIM on trip.com. Customer service is also very responsive.
