Lake Lungern

Lake Lungern

Lake Lungern is a natural lake hidden in an Alpine valley, located next to the town of Lungern in the Canton of Obwalden, central Switzerland. On sunny days, the lake water takes on an emerald blue-green hue. The lakeshore is dotted with grassy slopes, traditional wooden houses, and churches with spires. Together, these elements create the quintessential Swiss postcard scene that many people imagine. Hiking around the lake is the main way to explore the area. The trail extends from Lungern station to the lakeshore, and a full loop is about 10 km, taking two to three hours to walk. The route is flat and can be easily managed in regular sneakers. The path is mostly gravel. Wooden viewing platforms and the area in front of the church are great spots to stop for photos, and the S-curve on the lakeside road is an especially popular photo spot. At the eastern end of the lake is the Brünig Pass. The scenic train (part of the GoldenPass Line) traveling between Lucerne and Interlaken runs along the lake, crosses the pass, and stops at the station there. Taking an overhead shot of the entire lake from the viewing platform by the pass while waiting for a train to enter the frame makes for a classic Swiss landscape photo.Lungern · 1.8km from downtown

Lake Brienz

4.5/5
102 reviews
Lake Brienz is located at the northern foot of the Alps, named after the village of Brienz on the northeast side of the lake, while Interlaken lies on its southwest side. Surrounded by steep peaks, a boat tour on Lake Brienz offers breathtaking views of the Alpine scenery. The glacial meltwater carries fine rock flour, giving the entire lake a rare turquoise hue that becomes especially vivid on sunny days. Paired with the steep cliffs and dense forests on both shores, every snapshot looks like a postcard—a highly distinctive hallmark of this lake. Themed cruise with rich experiences Lake Brienz cruise offers various types of experiences. In addition to regular sightseeing cruises, it also provides special themed cruise activities, such as "breakfast cruise", "Indian dinner cruise tour", or "fish and jazz tour" on the cruise ship deck, etc. These are worth experiencing for travelers who love Swiss cuisine. Visit the village of Brienz The village of Brienz on the east shore of the lake is a particularly quiet small town, with fewer visitors during the off-peak season, making it perfect for strolling. You can also take the historic steam train—the Brienz-Rothorn Railway—to reach Rothorn. Giessbach Falls Another destination of the Lake Brienz cruise is the Giessbach Falls, where white waterfalls cascade down from 500 m high into the lake, crashing against rocks with a deafening roar, creating a spectacular sight. Beside the falls stands the Giessbach Hotel, resembling a fairytale castle full of dreamy charm. Cycling and hikes around the lake Lake Brienz is also ideal for cycling around the lake, with well-planned bike routes that allow you to experience the beauty of the lake up close. There are significant elevation changes during the ride, and fog may occur in rainy weather, so it is recommended to choose a suitable route based on your fitness level. Of course, there are also popular hiking trails here, such as walking along the southern shore of Lake Brienz, starting from Bönigen and passing through Iseltwald to reach Giessbach.Iseltwald · 16.1km from Lungern

Old Town is situated along the banks of the Reuss. The cobblestone streets are lined with well-preserved medieval buildings, many of which feature colorful frescoes on their exterior walls depicting religious legends and scenes of daily life. These frescoed buildings can be found around the various squares throughout the Old Town. The Chapel Bridge, which spans the Reuss, is an iconic landmark of the Old Town. The interior beams of this wooden covered bridge are decorated with triangular painted panels depicting important scenes from Swiss history, and the octagonal water tower next to the bridge is equally striking. A large number of frescoed buildings are concentrated around the squares in the Old Town, and you can stroll through them to admire the wall paintings of different themes one by one. There are open-air cafes along both banks of the Reuss, and swans often swim leisurely on the river. Sitting by the river to watch the pedestrians on the bridge and the swans playing in the water is a common way to experience the atmosphere of the Old Town.Lucerne · 31.6km from Lungern

Maybe I have seen too many pictures online and my expectations are too high. Longjiang disappointed me a little. I think the best part is the part where the train is going to Longjiang, where you can see very beautiful lakes. When I really got off the train, the lakes I saw were all very deep green, not the beautiful blue-green color I saw on the train. I climbed uphill to see the popular S highway and met some uncivilized Chinese people. There are many places on the uphill road where you can't take pictures. There are signs and electric fences blocking it. There was a girl who got into the net and was electrocuted. There were also people who were making loud noises and taking pictures at the door of someone's house, and they were chased away by the dog. It's a pity that we climbed for a long time and didn't take a photo. We were standing quietly by the side waiting. As a result, we waited for a long time and didn't get to see it, and we were also yelled at by the dog. There are very few shops in Longjiang. In order to drink water, we walked to the church to see the shop. It's recommended to bring some water with you.

Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe is one of Switzerland’s most spectacular mountain destinations, offering an unforgettable experience high in the Swiss Alps. Surrounded by magnificent snow-covered peaks, vast glaciers, and breathtaking alpine scenery, the journey to the summit is an adventure itself. The panoramic views from the top are truly mesmerizing, especially on a clear day when the mountains seem to stretch endlessly into the horizon. Walking through the snowy landscape feels like entering a winter wonderland. The impressive Aletsch Glacier adds even more beauty to the experience. Jungfraujoch is a must-visit destination for travelers who love mountains, snow, photography, and extraordinary natural landscapes.

Herweg Street is to Interlaken what Chang'an Avenue is to Beijing and Nanjing Road is to Shanghai. Herweg Street is 1,400 meters long. The east end is the East Railway Station and the west end is the West Railway Station. Both sides are full of luxurious hotels, elegant restaurants and various shops. The south side of the middle section of the street is the green Holhemat Green. Visiting Herweg is a must for Interlaken. The happiest thing is to look south on the street. Under the blue sky and white clouds, the Jungfrau often shows its heroic appearance in the mist, inviting people who love it to take a photo together. The most worry-free thing is that there are always tourists speaking Chinese dialects from all over the world on the street, and there are always shop assistants speaking standard Mandarin in shops, especially watch shops. Asking for directions and buying a watch, language communication is not a problem. The most annoying thing is that there are many public toilets on the street, all of which are advanced coin-operated access control, 1~2 Swiss francs per time. If you want to find free ones, it’s impossible in shops and too difficult in restaurants. Don’t forget to bring a few Swiss francs with you when you go shopping.

The experience was great. The little car went up and down, and when you got to the top, it was snowing heavily. It looked really cool. The prices at the cafe in the attraction were also reasonable. It was so peaceful to have a cup of coffee while watching the snow fall.

The cities in Switzerland are not big and the environment is very beautiful. The old town is surrounded by mountains and water, with snow-capped mountains in the distance. It is quiet and peaceful, with some old churches and old buildings dotted around. It is beautiful and comfortable to just stroll around.
