Saint John's Harbour

Saint John's Harbour is located below Signal Hill National Historic Site. The harbour can accommodate large passenger ships, cargo ships, and many fishing boats. In summer, if you are lucky, you might spot seal pups here, though these little ones are very cautious and do not appear easily.

Signal Hill National Historic Site is a famous landmark attraction in St. John's and a great place to overlook the harbor. It also served as the site of the St. John's harbor fortifications from the 17th century to World War II, where Guglielmo Marconi received the world's first transatlantic wireless signal in 1901.
