Located above Porthcurno Bay near Penzance in Cornwall, England, the Minack Theatre is a world-famous open-air theatre ingeniously set into a steep granite cliff overlooking the magnificent Atlantic Ocean. This unique theatre was built by Rowena Cade in the 1930s, who was inspired by Shakespeare's play The Tempest and decided to build a stage on the cliff in her backyard. The performance season is from mid-May to mid-September each year, mainly performing Shakespeare's plays such as A Midsummer Night's Dream and Macbeth, and the audience enjoys a unique viewing experience against the backdrop of the starry sky and sea view. The theatre is also famous for Sarah Brightman's singing of Scarborough Fair. In addition to theatrical performances, the Minack Theatre also has a subtropical garden with succulents, adding a touch of vitality. Visitors can also visit the nearby Porthcurno Beach to experience the magnificence of the Cornish coastline. Lush subtropical gardens and the remains of the legendary giant Cormoran add to the mystical atmosphere. The best experience is to check the tides before walking to the island (or taking a boat). At sunset, the castle and the sunset glow reflected on the sea create a picturesque scene. Wear non-slip shoes. Nearby, explore the artistic town of St. Ives. Half natural wonder, half historical treasure, this is truly England's most romantic maritime secret!
