I visited the Three Confucian Sites (Confucius Temple, Confucius Mansion, and Confucius Cemetery) alone. The overall cultural atmosphere was very rich, and I had the freedom to explore at my own pace. However, a guided tour is essential; the official electronic guide costs 20 yuan and is sufficient, otherwise it can easily just look like "a bunch of old buildings." The 140 yuan two-day combined ticket was a great deal. The dragon-carved stone pillars in the Dacheng Hall of the Confucius Temple and the Apricot Altar are well worth a closer look. The Confucius Cemetery is very large; I recommend spending 20 yuan to take the sightseeing bus directly to Confucius's tomb, which saves a lot of energy. There are many trees in the scenic area, but also a lot of walking, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes. It was a great solo travel experience, and I recommend it.
