Great Smoky Mountains National Park

4.5/5
21 reviews
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park, located at the junction of Tennessee and North Carolina, has about 10 million tourists every year and is the most visited national park in the United States. In 1983, UNESCO listed the Great Smoky Mountains National Park as a natural heritage and included it in the World Heritage List. The park covers an area of 200,000 hectares, and since it has not been destroyed by humans, it provides a relatively favorable environment for plants to grow. It is home to 3,500 species of plants and many endangered animals, especially where the world's largest group of salamanders is found. It is not only rich in natural heritage, but also has a long cultural history. Here you can learn about the way of life of early peasant families and communities living in the southern Appalachian Mountains. Many historic buildings still stand, and 97 historic buildings are concentrated in 5 areas, including: lumberjack sheds, barns, churches, rice mills and various other outdoor structures. However, these ancestors changed from difficult survival to predatory development. The logging industry almost destroyed the original forest in this area, and restoration has become the theme of today. Parks provide unique resources for outdoor recreation. You can stroll through the greenery and hike in the backcountry. Camping, fishing, outings, horseback riding, or just beautiful scenery are all great ways to relax. Four seasons are good seasons for traveling here. The mountains are blooming in spring, camping by the cool stream in summer, the leaves flying in autumn, and the quiet and pleasant in winter. The blue sky is always a very good reason for sightseeing.Sevier County · 24.2km from downtown

Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster

Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster

4.2
The Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster is an alpine coaster nestled among the hills of Pigeon Forge. It is not the intense, looping steel track found in traditional theme parks, but rather an experience of "flowing down from the mountain top" that is integrated into the mountains and forests. Guests sit in small sleds and are slowly pulled to the top of the slope, where they can take in views of dense pine forests and the silhouettes of distant mountains along the way. Once the sled is released, passengers can freely control the brake lever on the track, choosing to leisurely enjoy the scenery or "speed down" at their own pace. The track winds along the mountain terrain, passing through the woods and crossing ups and downs. The wind whistles past their ears, and the view instantly shifts from a sea of green forest to the forest and valleys below the slope, and then to the distant mountain mist. At night, it is accompanied by colorful lights, like a galaxy flowing through the valley.Pigeon Forge · 3.8km from downtown

Crammed with walls of information and photos of the Titanic as well as random artifacts salvaged from the actual ship, such as one of the musician’s violin case with original instrument retrieved from the water. Replica of grand staircase is very nice as well as bedrooms. Lots of fun activities about the ship for children to do.
