Shangqiu Ancient City Scenic Area
There are over a hundred scenic spots in the area of Shangqiu Ancient City, and are widely distributed. The ancient city was built in the sixth year of Zhengde in the Ming Dynasty. It mainly includes three parts: the ancient city, the South Lake scenic area and the Fire Culture scenic area. Shangqiu Museum
Shangqiu Museum is the first museum in China to showcase the history and civilization of Shang culture. It is also known as the "China Shang Culture Museum". It is also the largest comprehensive museum in Shangqiu City that fully displays the history of Shangqiu's ancient and modern civilization. It is located 1.5 kilometers southwest of the ancient city of Shangqiu in Suiyang District, Shangqiu City, Henan Province. It is adjacent to the Huashang Cultural Heritage Theme Park in the west and Huashang Avenue in the south. Shangqiu Museum was established in October 1983. The old museum was demolished in 2004. The foundation of the new museum was laid in December 2009. Construction began in 2010. After 6 years, it was trial-opened on May 18, 2016 and officially opened on June 6. The new museum covers a total area of 74,000 square meters (about 110.4 acres) and a total construction area of 29,672 square meters. It has a collection of 20,000 cultural relics, most of which were unearthed by field archaeological excavations in Shangqiu or collected by the public. To enter the Shangqiu Museum, first climb the embankment from the large steps and ramps facing Huashang Avenue, and enter the museum's preface hall along the large approach bridge. Baiyun Temple
Baiyun Temple is the largest existing ancient building complex in eastern Henan, covering an area of 20,652 square meters and a building area of 1,310 square meters. Baiyun Temple has a long history and vicissitudes of life. Baiyun Temple was built in the first year of Zhenguan in the Tang Dynasty (AD 627). It was destroyed by fire in the Jin and Yuan dynasties, but was rebuilt by the great monk Jie Xiu in the Ming Dynasty. During the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, the great monk Foding carried out a large-scale repair and expansion. Covering an area of 546 mu at that time, there were more than 1,000 rooms of the mountain gate, the second floor of the bell and the drum, the five major Buddhist halls, the Tibetan scripture building and the east and west corridor rooms. The buildings were magnificent and solemn. In the temple, the pine trees and cypresses are lush, the Buddhist music is lingering, and the tourists are like weaving. It is the heyday of the development of Baiyun Temple. It is said that when the temple was built, it was summer and the heat was unbearable; the craftsmen were sweating profusely, and the blue bricks and square tiles were hot to the hands. For example, a giant umbrella covers the scorching sun, allowing the craftsmen to work normally in the shade. It was not until the temple was built that the white clouds dispersed. Shangqiu Yellow River Old Road National Forest Park (Eco-tourism Area) is located on the Yellow River Old Road in the north of Liang Park, Shangqiu City, Henan Province, with a total area of about 65 square kilometers. It is the highlight of the eastern end of the "Great Yellow River Tourist Route in Henan Province". In the park are the ruins of the old city of Mengxian County, the birthplace of the thinker Zhuangzi during the Warring States Period. Luoyang Museum
The Luoyang Museum was established in 1958 and fully opened to the public on April 16, 2011. It is a comprehensive museum integrating cultural relic collection, exhibition display, and social education. Its collections span the long history of Luoyang as an ancient capital of thirteen dynasties. The main building stands like a giant ding (ritual vessel), symbolizing the "establishment of the capital in Luoyang." Its solemn and majestic facade itself serves as a popular photo backdrop. The large-scale permanent exhibition "Heluo civilization" unfolds along the timeline of prehistoric times, the Xia, Shang, and Zhou dynasties, the Han and Wei dynasties, the Sui and Tang dynasties, and the Five Dynasties and Northern Song period, connecting thousands of years of Luoyang's capital history into a complete viewing experience. The city wall is quite long; I didn't walk from the south gate to the east gate, I only went to the western end. Zhang Xun Temple and Yingtian Academy aren't very interesting to visit, but they carry a significant amount of historical and cultural significance.

It is reported that the architectural design of the museum is derived from the ancient city of Guide in Shangqiu. When it comes to tourism in Shangqiu, there may not be many attractions other than the Shangqiu Museum. However, there are many beautiful places outside the city of Shangqiu. Hanliang Cultural Park is one of them. It follows historical elements and has many antique items.

There's a Riyue Lake in Shangqiu, and there's also one in Yongcheng. The one in Yongcheng seems to be a bit bigger than the one in Shangqiu. I've been to Shangqiu a few times. Yeah, but I only rode an electric scooter around Riyue Lake before, just on the outer perimeter, because you can't ride it in. This time I came specifically to hike around it.

The roof of the main hall of Baiyun Temple has a rolling dragon ridge on the sunny side and a dancing phoenix ridge on the shady side. This is the main feature that distinguishes it from other temples. It is one of the significant symbols of the royal temple. There is an exquisite small courtyard located at the back of Baiyun Temple. This is the place where the monk Yin Pharaoh went to practice.

It's very worthwhile, but it's also very crowded, which might slightly detract from the overall experience. However, the people are incredibly welcoming, and there are many beautiful spots for taking photos. The food is also affordable and inexpensive, which kids enjoy. I'll definitely go back when it's less crowded.

Our guide at the Luobo Museum, Mr. Pei, was excellent. He was considerate of the artifact display cases, reminding the children in our group and others to keep a safe distance to avoid obstructing photos or leaving handprints. His explanations were engaging and detailed, although latecomers sometimes interrupted him. Overall, it was a good experience, and we saw all the museum's treasures and popular artifacts within the limited time – definitely worth it.
