Taipei Palace Museum houses an exceptionally rich collection of artifacts and treasures that span nearly 5,000 years of China's glorious history, with over 650,000 pieces in its collection. Known as the "Treasure House of Chinese Culture," it offers visitors the chance to see its three most prized possessions: the Meat-shaped Stone, Jadeite Cabbage, and Mao-kung Ting. The lifelike forms and exquisite craftsmanship of these masterpieces are truly awe-inspiring. In addition to viewing rare treasures up close, you can also visit the park's Zhishan Garden, Zhide Garden, and the Zhang Daqian Memorial Hall. Get up close to appreciate the art-inspired-by-life Meat-shaped Stone. The Dongpo Meat-shaped Stone is one of China's Four Great Odd Stones and one of the three treasures of the Taipei Palace Museum. The "Jadeite Cabbage" craftsmen skillfully utilized the natural hues of the jadeite, using the deep green tones to depict the layered cabbage leaves. Although the white portions contained cracks and impurities, the artisans ingeniously transformed them into the fresh, moisture-rich stems of the cabbage through clever arrangement. Explore classic calligraphy and painting works to uncover the mysteries of Chinese calligraphy.

Taipei 101

7

4.7/5

6.9k reviews

Located in a prime location in Taipei, Taipei 101 was primarily planned by Taipei Financial Center Corporation, a consortium of fourteen companies, in collaboration with a professional team. Designed by renowned architect C.Y. Lee, the project transcends the concept of a single volume, using the auspicious number "eight" (a homophone for "prosperity") as a design unit. Each eight-story building forms a structural unit, interconnected and stacked to form the overall structure. This creates a rhythmic and dynamic aesthetic, pioneering a new style for international skyscrapers. Ultra-high-speed elevators: Taipei 101 Observatory is equipped with two ultra-high-speed elevators, with an ascent speed of up to 1010 meters per minute. It only takes 37 seconds to go from the 5th floor to the 89th floor observation deck. These two elevators are also equipped with constant pressure devices in the car, dampers, and high-temperature resistant ceramic braking systems, making them intelligent high-speed elevators that integrate high technology. The 89th-floor indoor observation deck, illuminated by dazzling lights at night, creates a dreamlike and immersive experience through its glass-enclosed landscape. Not only does it offer panoramic views of the city skyline, but it also features unique, private photo windows, ensuring every moment becomes a classic shot! Wind Damping Sphere: The full official name of the Taipei 101 wind damping sphere is the Tuned Mass Damper (TMD). It is a passive damping system custom-designed to meet the needs of this building, located centrally on floors 87-92. Its main purpose is to reduce the building's swaying during strong winds, minimizing discomfort for those working in the building. Unlike traditional concealed damping systems, the Taipei 101 wind damping sphere's design balances functionality and aesthetics, allowing a clear view of the entire damping system's operation from the observation deck. The multi-section exterior design naturally mitigates the wind field effect on the ground caused by airflow from high-rise buildings, and ensures pedestrian safety and comfort through the separation of green planting areas in the architectural design. Infinite Sky: Utilizing a unique mirroring principle, the interplay of reflections and rotations between the atrium and floor creates a visual experience of boundless space and limitless expanse, making visitors feel as if they are in a kaleidoscope world. Helpful Reminder: Female visitors wearing short skirts should be aware of the reflection issues on the mirrored floor. Rainbow Neon Zone: The night view from above, combined with neon lights, is a popular spot for taking photos and shouldn't be missed!

·Explore the Yehliu Geopark, which is famous for its special geology and topography and considered as a wonder of the world. Feel the charm of "the most Mars-like rocky environment on earth". ·Closely touch the unique-shaped boulders in the park which are all gradually formed due to years of erosion and weathering by seawater. ·Yehliu Geopark is a good choice whether you are taking children for a parent-child tour or visiting with friends and enjoying the beautiful scenery. △Yehliu Geopark has a large area and different scenic spots. Among the boulders, the most famous one is the "Queen's Head". As the representative work of the mushroom rock, especially its graceful and noble shape, the queen's head has long been the symbol of Yehliu Geopark. △In addition to the "Queen's Head", Yeliu Geopark has formed special geological landscapes such as sea caves, honeycomb rocks, bean curd rocks, mushroom rocks, and candle rocks after tens of thousands of years of seawater erosion, crustal movement and weathering.

The main observation deck of Taipei 101 is located on the 89th floor, featuring a 360-degree panoramic glass curtain wall offering views of Taipei City and the surrounding mountains. The 91st-floor outdoor observation deck, open periodically, provides an open-air viewing experience at an altitude of 440 meters. Visitors can take a high-speed elevator from the 5th floor to the 89th floor in just 37 seconds. The observation deck also includes a close-up demonstration area where visitors can observe the overall operation of the damping system. Infinite Sky: Utilizing a unique mirroring principle, the interplay of reflections and rotations between the atrium and floor creates a visual experience of boundless space and limitless expanse, making visitors feel as if they are in a kaleidoscope world. • Sun Moon Lake is surrounded by mountains and lush forests. The lake is crystal clear, with visibility reaching over 10 meters. • There are many ways to visit Sun Moon Lake. Taking a yacht around the lake, the Sun Moon Lake cable car, the Sun Moon Lake bicycle path around the lake, and the lake trail are all good options. • Every spring, the cherry blossoms along the road are in full bloom, presenting a colorful scene △ Sun Moon Lake is a vast lake, and the peaks reflected in the lake look like a beautiful scene in a painting. There is a small island in the pond, which looks like a bead floating on the water from a distance, so it is called "Pearl Island" and is now also called Lalu Island. With this island as the boundary, the northern half of the lake is round like the sun, and the southern half of the lake is curved like a crescent moon. This is where the name Sun Moon Lake comes from. △ The Sun Moon Lake Lake Route has been hailed by CNN as one of the most beautiful bicycle lanes in the world. Whether you are traveling with friends, a couple on a date, or a family trip, you must ride a bicycle when visiting Sun Moon Lake and enjoy the freedom and comfort of the lake. △ Enjoy the entire lake tour to appreciate the scenery of Sun Moon Lake and the mountains, with the captain's warm service and on-board guided tour. Along the way, you can overlook Lalu Island, Sun Moon Resort, Lalu Island, Ci'en Pagoda, Xuanzang Temple, Xuanguang Temple, water boat house, four-handed hanging net, cable car station, Sun Moon Lake outlet, and Wenwu Temple. △ Sun Moon Lake Cable Car - overlooking the 360-degree view of the lake and mountains of Sun Moon Lake. If there is enough water, you may also have the opportunity to see the foggy and fairyland-like dreamy scenery.

No. 1 of Best Things to Do in Alishan National Scenic Area

Alishan National Forest Recreation Area

5.9

4.8/5

587 reviews

Alishan National Forest Recreation Area is located in the Alishan National Scenic Area. The Alishan National Scenic Area is an iconic attraction in Taiwan. The Alishan Mountain Range, composed of 18 major mountains, covers a vast area, with the essence of its natural beauty concentrated in the "Alishan National Forest Recreation Area." The five major wonders—sunrise, sea of clouds, sunset glow, forest, and train—can all be enjoyed here. When visitors mention "going to Alishan," they usually mean coming here. If the weather is clear, the Alishan sunrise is not to be missed. The well-known Zhushan Lookout and Xiaoliyuanshan Lookout within the recreation area are both unobstructed with great views, allowing you to overlook the rolling mountains such as the Yushan peaks, the Central Mountain Range, and Tashan. The magnificent picture of light and shadow as the sun rises will surely make you feel that the trip was worthwhile. The sunrise time is approx. 5:00 AM on the summer solstice, approx. 7:00 AM on the winter solstice, and around 6:00 AM on the spring and autumn equinoxes. To watch the sunrise, it is recommended to stay inside the Alishan National Forest Recreation Area. When watching the sunrise, please remember to bring a flashlight, a thick jacket, and wear comfortable walking shoes. Sea of clouds The Alishan sea of clouds, one of the eight scenic spots in Taiwan, usually appears in the early morning or at dusk when the weather is clear and clouds are scattered during autumn and winter. Recommended places to enjoy the sea of clouds within the Alishan National Forest Recreation Area include the lookout next to the Alpine Museum, Alishan House, Alishan Railway Station, Zhaoping Park, Xiaoliyuanshan Lookout, and the area near the first parking lot. Sunset glow Due to the thin air and strong solar radiation in high-altitude areas, the blue sky is more brilliant than on the plains, and the sunset glow is even more vibrant. Ciyun Temple, Alishan House, Alishan Railway Station, Zhaoping Park, Duigaoyue, Xiaoliyuanshan, and the area near the first parking lot are all attractions for viewing the Alishan sunset glow. Forest Alishan was originally one of the three major forest farms in Taiwan. As the altitude gradually increases, you can see various plants from tropical to temperate zones. In spring, cherry blossoms flutter, and in the fall, red leaves cover the mountains. There is also the breathtaking thousand-year-old red cypress forest. Walk along the over 600m-long wooden boardwalk through the forest and enjoy a long-awaited natural forest bath. Train The small red train shuttling through the cherry blossom forest has almost become a symbol of Alishan. The retro-style small train was used to transport timber in the early years, but now it is a popular attraction among tourists. The railway connects from Chiayi Railway Station all the way into the recreation area. The Zhushan Line is the best choice for watching the sunrise, while the Shenmu Line can take you to the forest area with towering giant trees. If you want to explore the entire Alishan National Forest Recreation Area, taking these two lines is very convenient. Specialties In addition to the charming natural scenery, the Alishan National Forest Recreation Area also has many cultural attractions, including the Alishan Guest House, Alpine Museum, Tree Spirit Pagoda, etc. As the number one specialty souvenir of Alishan, you can buy some high-mountain tea around Alishan Railway Station or Fenqihu Old Street to give to friends and family.

Tour was so smooth even if its raining. Our Tour Guide was Anita and she is so organized and pretty. Good thing most of us is always on time so the schedule is very great. Driver has a very good skill to and let me borrow his umbrella...I would really reccommend this👌💯 Heads up Monday is Busy Monday as Anita would say.

The van will pick us up in a place near the hotel and send us directly to the spots. Very details briefing will be given before the boarding. Along the journey, the pic will introduce the scenery and the habitat of the dolphins and whale. We can see a lot of dolphins swimming but the chance of seeing a whale is small. We did not manage to see a whale. Anyways a good experience, watching with eye is better than camera.

Such a wonderful and affordable attraction for families with young children! 🐼🦒❤️Taipei Zoo is huge, with so many different animals to see and explore! The admission fee is incredibly reasonable, making it a great place for families to spend a few hours without breaking the bank. It’s definitely worth setting aside enough time to explore, especially when visiting with little ones, as there’s quite a bit of walking involved.Highly recommended for families travelling to Taipei with kids! 😊

We went to Taiwan during the New Year...We took the cable car to and from Maokong Station to visit tourist attractions. It was the cherry blossom season. The cherry blossoms were super beautiful and it was a great place for family travel. We will go there again next time we have the chance. The air quality is fresh and the scenery is beautiful. We have been to Taiwan many times and still can't get enough... Looking forward to the next trip

The tour guide service was excellent! I breathed in the fresh air and saw the beautiful scenery of Alishan. On the way back, the guide didn't need to take me back to the hotel, but he did. Thank you so much!
