Memorial and Museum Auschwitz-Birkenau was a concentration camp and extermination center established by Nazi Germany during World War II, and it is an important historical site of the Holocaust. In 1940, the Nazi SS established the Auschwitz I concentration camp here, which was subsequently expanded to include Auschwitz II-Birkenau, Auschwitz III, and several subcamps. Starting in 1942, Birkenau became one of the primary sites for the Nazi systematic extermination of Jews in Europe. Today, it is an important place for commemorating the victims, preserving historical evidence, and conducting Holocaust education, serving as a reminder of the catastrophes caused by antisemitism, racial hatred, and discrimination.Poland · Oswiecim

Krakow's Rynek Glowny Central Square

The central square in Krakow can be called the largest medieval square in Europe. It is also a very exciting place in Krakow. It is warm and vibrant. Many people come to Krakow to experience the authentic local customs of Poland. The brick red Church of the Virgin Mary on the square is the symbol of Krakow, and when the sun shines, it emits a charming warm red. The textile hall with a white Renaissance building in the middle has now been converted into a shopping mall and a museum. The dazzling amber accessories, dishes, Polish dolls, gloves and sweaters in the shopping mall are the reasons why tourists love to stop. As the hour approaches, people walking and drinking coffee in the square will stop and pay their respects to the church - when the hour arrives, the small window at the top of the church bell tower will open and a golden trumpet sticks out , playing a piece of tune loudly, and after the end, the player will wave to the people below, so there will be whistles and applause from people in the square. The tradition of playing the trumpet is to commemorate the invasion of nomads from the Mongolian plateau in the 8th century, when an enemy soldier shot an arrow through the throat of the player at that time, and the sound stopped abruptly. To commemorate this soldier, until now, the horn sounded on the hour was abruptly terminated at that moment.Krakow · 75.1km from Tarnow

Covering an area of approximately 76 hectares, the park is an oasis of greenery and culture in the heart of the capital. The central point of Łazienki is the Palace on the Isle, also known as the Palace on the Water, which is an example of classicist architecture. The palace delights with its richly decorated interiors, including the Ballroom and Solomon's Hall. Another unique place is the Amphitheater, inspired by ancient Greek and Roman theaters, located on the shore of the pond, where numerous cultural events take place. Royal Baths is not only monuments, but also beautiful gardens, picturesque alleys and numerous ponds that create a unique atmosphere of this place. Palace of Culture and Science is one of the most recognizable buildings in Warsaw. Construction began in 1952, and its architectural style is primarily Socialist Realism, while incorporating decorative elements from Polish historic architecture. The entire building is approx. 237 m tall, including the antenna structure at the top, and has 46 floors. Its exterior features a towering central spire, stepped facades, and rich decorative details. 39 reviews
The Mermaid's Statue is an important city symbol of Warsaw, the capital of Poland, commonly depicted as a mermaid with the upper body of a woman and the tail of a fish, holding a sword in her right hand and a shield in her left, representing the strength and courage to protect the city. The image of the mermaid appeared in Warsaw's city seals as early as the late 14th–early 15th century, though the early image was different from today's, having evolved over several centuries to gradually become the combination of a woman and a fish tail. Today, this motif appears widely in Warsaw's city emblem, public buildings, and urban decorations, and is a common symbol tourists encounter when learning about Warsaw's history and urban culture.Poland · Warsaw

Ghetto Heroes Square

Ghetto Heroes Square

4.2
Ghetto Heroes' Square, located in Krakow, Poland, is a historic memorial. During World War II, it served as a center for the forced migration and assembly of Jews. Today, a sculpture of 33 iron chairs stands in the square, symbolizing the emptiness and loss left behind by the expelled Jews. Visitors can feel the weight of history through these chairs. Each chair faces a different direction, representing the different fates of those forced from their homes. The surrounding buildings also retain traces of history and are worth a closer look. Nearby, within walking distance, is the Oskar Schindler Factory Museum, which offers a fascinating glimpse into the history of the Krakow Jewish Ghetto and the story of Schindler's rescue of Jews. For history buffs and visitors interested in Jewish culture, Ghetto Heroes' Square is a must-see.Krakow · 73.8km from Tarnow

Basilica of Esztergom is located on Castle Hill in the northern city of Esztergom, attracting a large number of visitors. The building features a typical Neoclassical style, with a front supported by thick, tall stone columns, and its solemn facade and massive hemispherical dome create a stunning appearance. Because the basilica is situated on high ground, its magnificent dome is particularly striking when viewed from a distance and can even be clearly seen from across the Danube River. Stepping inside, the spacious nave has a cruciform layout, and the massive dome allows natural light to enter through twelve windows, making the entire space appear bright.Hungary · Esztergom
St. Florian's Gate

St. Florian's Gate

4.1
St. Florian's Gate is an ancient gate on the main street of the Old Town. With its long history, it stands as one of the iconic landmarks of Krakow's Old Town. We recommend visiting it alongside the Barbican to learn about Krakow's defensive fortifications. St. Florian's Gate was built in 1660 and renovated in 1694. The gate's tower is over 30m high and features a Baroque-style spire that resembles a crown. The south side of the gate is decorated with an 18th-century bas-relief of St. Florian, while the north side features a stone eagle carved by Zygmunt Langman in 1882, based on a design by the painter Jan Matejko. Inside the gate, there is also a late Baroque-style altar.Krakow · 74.8km from Tarnow

Warsaw’s Old Town is a stunning testament to the resilience and rich history of the Polish people. Originally established in the 13th century, this UNESCO World Heritage Site was almost entirely destroyed during World War II but has been meticulously reconstructed. Walking through the cobbled streets, visitors can feel the blend of medieval charm and historical significance in every corner, from the colorful facades of historic tenement houses to the grandeur of the Royal Castle, which offers a fascinating glimpse into Polish royalty and national history.Market Square is the heart of Old Town, where vibrant cafes, restaurants, and shops offer everything from traditional Polish cuisine to charming souvenirs. Statues and monuments, such as the iconic Mermaid of Warsaw, add to the area’s character and reflect the deep cultural symbolism of the city. Nearby, St. John’s Archcathedral and other churches showcase exquisite architecture and house important religious relics.Whether you're a history enthusiast, a culture seeker, or simply looking for a beautiful place to explore, Warsaw’s Old Town offers an unforgettable experience that celebrates Poland's endurance, beauty, and cultural heritage. This is Europe's largest medieval square, covering 4 hectares. It is surrounded by colorful buildings, cafes, and street performers. The Sukiennice, the cloth hall in the center of the square, was built in the 13th century and was originally a textile market and one of Europe's important trading centers. Today, it is a shopping paradise for handicrafts and amber jewelry.

This is the best safe haven in the bustling city. The most important thing is that there are white peacocks walking here and mandarin ducks in pairs...a wonderful harmony between the city and nature.

It is the most worthy tallest building in Warsaw, with a total height of 234 meters. It was built by the former Soviet Union and presented to Warsaw. It has a strong former Soviet architectural style and is a landmark building in Warsaw. It is called "Stalin's syringe" or "Russian wedding cake". However, such a beautiful building is completely inconsistent with the style of the surrounding new town and the old town in the distance. The complicated historical process has made the Poles have a complex feeling of love and hate for this building. It is said that there is a lot of space inside and various exhibitions are often held. This reminds me of the "Sino-Soviet Friendship Building" in Shanghai. Haha, it is indeed a building of the same style.

On the west bank of the Vistula River in Warsaw stands a bronze sculpture with a human body and a fish tail. This is the symbol of the heroic city of Warsaw - the Warsaw Mermaid. In Poland, the Vistula River, which flows into the Peronian Sea, is said to have a mermaid. At that time, a young man named Wald and a young woman named Shava traveled by boat down the river to the current Polish capital Warsaw to open up their homeland. The mermaid in the river was their witness and protector. This place gradually developed into a city. In order to commemorate them, later generations combined their names and called it "Warsaw" as the name of the city. At the same time, the image of the mermaid was used as the emblem of Warsaw.

Esztergom Cathedral is the seat of the Hungarian Catholic Cathedral. The solemn and elegant cathedral welcomes visitors from the front with eight huge columns and a towering central dome. The exquisite and magnificent decorations are amazing and give people a sense of awe. Hanging on the altar is a huge painting of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, which is the world's largest masterpiece completed on a single canvas.
