[Attraction Introduction] The Deliger Grassland Scenic Area in Zhangwu County is located in the heart of the Zhangwu Grassland Ecological Restoration Demonstration Zone. The Attraction covers an area of 36,000 acres and is a national 4A-level tourist scenic area, a national research and education base, and a national 5C-level self-driving RV campsite. It is a grassland close to the sea and an ecological grassland in Liaoning. Deliger, meaning "blooming flowers" and "bright and open" in Mongolian, offers both the beauty of the desert, where "smoke rises from the vast desert, the setting sun rises over the long river," and the idyllic atmosphere of "herds and sheep glimpsed through the wind-blown grass." Deliger boasts not only natural landscapes of mountains, water, forests, fields, lakes, grasslands, and sand, but is also renowned throughout the province for its profound historical and cultural heritage, exemplified by the "Zhangwu Desertification Control Spirit." The Deliger Grassland Wind Zone, with its "grassland as its medium, tourism as its core, and culture as its soul," is dedicated to creating an ecotourism destination that integrates eco-living, study and wellness, leisure vacations, Mongolian-style homestays, forest wellness, desert experiences, folklore exploration, fitness and exercise, and grassland cuisine. [Attractions Features] Looking back at Shayuan Cultural Theme Square The Huiwangshayuan Cultural Theme Square is based on the children's literature work "Huiwangshayuan" by renowned Chinese children's author Chang Xing'er. The sculpture depicts a young man living on the desert, yearning for greenery and looking forward to a bright future. The desolate desert is what people call the "eight hundred li vast sea." The poem, "Wearing the stars and dew, reminiscing about the past, carrying a silken brocade to travel the desert, looking back at a pure land, parting layers of windblown sand, and performing a story of youthful adventures on the plains," is included in the "100 Years of 100 Classic Chinese Children's Literature" series and has won the National Excellent Children's Literature Award, the Soong Ching Ling Children's Literature Award, the Bing Xin Children's Literature Award, and the Liaoning Excellent Children's Literature Award. Here, you can admire fairytale landscapes such as golden roofs, egret villas, black mud huts, Hot Air Balloon Rides, and a simulated church, allowing you to step into a fairytale world and experience its charm. The Green Lawn Leisure Square combines leisure and entertainment, with lush green lawns, azure lakes, lush green shade, and a soft beach, allowing you to connect with nature and embrace it. Create romantic wedding photography and outdoor wedding scenes for young people. Hobbit Town The Hobbits, a people who appear in J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy novels, are known for their diminutive stature, ranging from two to four feet (0.6 to 1.2 meters). Their huts are tailored to their height, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the dwarfs' lives and surroundings. Just like in the film, the village is filled with a uniquely idyllic atmosphere. Children's Entertainment It is mainly composed of children's amusement facilities and is a large-scale amusement park in Zhangwu area. There are 6 large-scale amusement projects and 14 small-scale amusement projects in the park. The facilities are novel and exciting, and the decoration is modern, combining fashion and dynamism, bringing a new entertainment experience to tourists. racecourse Horseback riding is one of the most beneficial sports for the body, combining active and passive movements. During horseback riding, the rider's attention is highly focused, and all bones, muscles, and internal organs are involuntarily engaged in motion, which helps burn excess and strengthen muscles. Beach motorcycle While enjoying the beautiful scenery of the grassland, you can also experience a four-wheel off-road beach motorcycle. Four-wheel beach motorcycles are safer and easier to drive. Braking and throttle are so simple. When you drive it on the sand, it will sweep away the heavy work and tense pace. Riding will give you a brand new experience. Under the blue sky and white clouds, driving a four-wheel off-road motorcycle and galloping on the sand at lightning speed is really exciting! Desertification Control Experience Camp The Zhangwu desertification control spirit of "unwavering determination, never retreating, working in obscurity and willing to make sacrifices" is the red gene condensed by party organizations at all levels, sand fixation and afforestation research institutions, and the vast number of cadres and the masses in the 70 years of desertification control practice in Zhangwu. It is a precious resource for inheriting the national spirit and a spiritual home for promoting regional culture. It has provided a great spiritual encouragement for global desertification control and will surely provide a strong spiritual driving force for the high-quality transformation and all-round revitalization of our city. Located at the southern end of Saibei Yadan-Shamen, it imitates the style of the movies "A Chinese Odyssey" and "Red Sorghum". The filming location was created by a team of highly skilled designers. China's first scientific sand control shovel, cellar, and desert grassland also laid the foundation for the promotion of Zhangwu's sand control spirit. Container B&B The Deliger Ecological Homestay complex is divided into three main areas. The first, located east of the Attraction, features distinctive container-based eco-homestays with family rooms, triple rooms, and king-size bedrooms, perfect for families and travelers. At night, the container-based homestays are particularly dazzling, with star-lit lanterns, beer, barbecue, and the sound of frogs croaking in the background, creating a truly captivating experience: "The fragrance of rice flowers heralds a good harvest, while the sound of frogs croaks." Both the lake-view rooms and cabins are located along the lake, offering excellent ventilation and light. The lakeside air quality is excellent, creating a natural oxygen bar. Admiring the beautiful lake, watching the lotus blossoms and the sunset is truly relaxing. 5C-level self-driving caravan campsite Liaoning Deliger Grassland Scenic Area offers self-drive and RV campgrounds, including tent and RV sites. A variety of tent, RV, and RV spaces are available for visitors to choose from. The campground also features a service center, utility services, a public kitchen, self-service laundry facilities, public restrooms, showers, and a business area. Ningchang Film and Television Ancient City The design and construction of the charming old streets of "Ningchang Ancient City" are rooted in the history of Zhangwu County. Millions of years ago, during the Liao Dynasty, this area was part of Ningchang County, under the jurisdiction of Yizhou. During the Yuan Dynasty, the Grassland Silk Road reached its peak, and the construction and management of post roads were given high priority. Zhangwu then established a Ningchang Station. From "Ningchang County" to "Ningchang Station," the former prosperity has long since faded amidst the grasslands and deserts. Through the mists of history, today's "Ningchang Ancient City" emerges with a renewed splendor on the desert steppes. Shaquan Fish Banquet Zhangwu is located on the southern edge of the Horqin Desert, one of the largest deserts in the country. The terrain is high in the north and low in the south. The deep sand layer and the original secondary forest converge with thousands of springs to form a clear water surface. The water is clear and transparent and you can see the bottom. The water has sufficient dissolved oxygen, is weakly alkaline and rich in minerals. The sand spring fish here has delicious meat and extremely high nutritional value. In addition to being rich in protein, and amino acids, it also contains iron, copper, zinc and other trace elements needed by the body. The meat of Shaquan Fish Feast is delicate and delicious, with color, fragrance, taste and shape. It has the reputation of being a natural green food. Shaquan Fish Feast has become a "delicious meal" on people's tongues. Mongolian Roast Lamb Farm Located at the entrance to the Deliger Attraction, Lao Mi Tou Roasted Lamb Restaurant boasts five yurts accommodating a hundred people. Here, you can enjoy authentic grassland beef and lamb dishes accompanied by fragrant milk tea. Their charcoal-grilled whole lamb is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with crispy skin and tender, golden brown flesh, and a distinctly fresh and fragrant aroma. The flavor is rich yet not greasy, crispy and flavorful, a stark contrast to the usual local lamb. At night, the bonfires burn brightly on the grassland, and people dance to melodious grassland songs, creating a magical experience. Educated Youth Canteen The dishes are mainly Northeastern-style pig-killing dishes, with large pot stews as the main feature. It feels like celebrating Chinese New Year at home when you were a child. Even the waiters are dressed in period clothes, and coming here will take you back to decades ago in a second. It is very suitable for bringing family to enjoy.Zhangwu · 23.5km from downtown

Horqin Grassland

Horqin Grassland is not a single enclosed scenic area, but a vast grassland stretching across the eastern part of Inner Mongolia. It mainly covers Tongliao and Hinggan League, bordering Hulunbuir Grassland to the north and Xilin Gol to the west, and is located at the northwest end of the Songliao Plain. "Horqin" comes from the Mongolian language, meaning "archer," and is named after the Horqin tribe that has lived and herded here for generations. This is also the place of birth of Empress Dowager Xiaozhuang of the Qing Dynasty (grandmother of Emperor Kangxi) and the hometown of the national hero Gada Meilin. The Andai dance and Horqin folk songs, which originated in the Hure Banner area, are still sung on the grassland today. Unlike endless pure meadows, the charm of Horqin lies in the interlacing of grasslands, sandy lands, sparse forests, and rivers. The Horqin Sandy Land, one of the four major sandy lands in China, is embedded among the pastures, with oases and sand dunes appearing alternately. The Zhurihe Grassland on the Tongliao side is located in the hinterland, where herds of horses and sheep are scattered under the blue sky and white clouds. You can ride Mongolian horses, stay in yurts, and at night, gather around a bonfire to drink mare's milk wine and eat roasted whole lamb, living a day of authentic nomadic life. Daqinggou in Horqin Left Rear Banner is a green, deep gully stretching over 20 km in the sandy land, where spring water at the bottom of the gully gathers into clear streams; you can hike along the forest paths to Sanchakou and Xiaoqing Lake. Heading north into Hinggan League, the Greater Khingan Range forest area has patches of larch, and historical sites such as the Genghis Khan Temple in Ulanhot and the Senggelinqin Prince Mansion (Bo Prince Mansion) in Horqin Left Rear Banner are also scattered along this route. This grassland consists of multiple scattered pastures and tourist spots that are far apart from each other. Public transportation is limited, so visitors from other places often use Tongliao or Ulanhot as a hub and then take a car charter to various locations. Summer is the season when the water and grass are lush, making it the perfect time for horseback riding, watching horse racing, and attending bonfire parties. The temperature difference between day and night on the grassland is large, so it is advisable to bring a jacket even when traveling in midsummer.Horqin Left Rear Banner · 49.1km from Zhangwu

As the National Day holiday drew to a close, I stepped through the vermilion gates of the Shenyang Imperial Palace. The red walls and yellow tiles shone brightly in the autumn sunlight. Unlike the grandeur of the Forbidden City in Beijing, this place exuded a rich Northeast Manchu flavor. Upon entering the eastern section, the Dazheng Hall immediately caught my eye. This octagonal, double-eaved pavilion-style building resembled a giant tent. Two majestic dragon-carved pillars stood solemnly at the main entrance. The eight corners symbolized the Eight Banners, signifying "unity of the eight directions," forming a spacious tent-like courtyard with the ten princely pavilions arranged in a V-shape on either side. Standing there, one could almost see the grand scene of Nurhaci discussing politics with the leaders of the Eight Banners. Continuing along the central axis, the Chongzheng Hall, golden and gleaming, stood in the center, commonly known as the "Golden Throne Hall." Its roof was covered with yellow glazed tiles with green trim, and the beams were shaped like three-dimensional dragons leaping forward. The interior was entirely open, without a ceiling. It was here in 1636 that Huang Taiji declared the change of the dynasty's name to the Qing Dynasty. Inside the hall, the gilded cloud and dragon screen and the openwork golden dragon throne are arranged according to the layout during Emperor Qianlong's eastern tour, giving visitors a sense of traveling through time. Ascending the Phoenix Tower, once the tallest building in Shengjing (Mukden), one sees a plaque inscribed with Emperor Qianlong's calligraphy, "Purple Qi Comes from the East," hanging high above. From the railing, the entire Forbidden City unfolds before one's eyes. During the National Day holiday, the Forbidden City was bustling with activity. The museum not only opened half an hour earlier and closed half an hour later but also offered nighttime tours. Folk music performances on the platform in front of the Dazheng Hall and tourists in ancient costumes strolling among the red walls gave this 400-year-old building a unique vitality during the holiday.

I'd heard so much about the Shenyang Imperial Palace, and finally got to see it! The layout and signage were very clear, and many of the artifacts were extremely valuable, making it well worth a visit. However, because some areas are quite small, guided tours can be very noisy without Bluetooth headsets, which can negatively impact the overall experience.

There were so many people and tourists that I didn't have time to take in many things. It's like a low-end version of the Forbidden City in Beijing. Many of the artifacts on display were discarded from the Forbidden City. Some rooms were off-limits, so people crowded around the entrances to take photos. There was no lighting inside, so the photos didn't look great. The architecture is still quite distinctive.

It's a bit far from downtown Changchun, about an hour's drive away. The automatic parking system at the entrance was a first for me, and it was free! There were even volunteers to show you how to use it – so thoughtful! The place is incredibly large; walking is impossible. A bus ride around it takes over 40 minutes. The most beautiful area is near the dam, not far from the entrance!

Overall, it's pretty good. Once you get there, you can rent a car. I didn't know how to drive at first, but with my years of driving experience, I learned quickly. This saves energy. You can download an app, locate yourself, and check out the attractions and waiting times. Boys might like the Dinosaur Extinction attraction, as well as some thrilling rides. Some attractions require separate fees, such as the Ice and Snow World and the Petting Zoo!

I regretfully missed the snow cake monkey show during the day, but a quiet stroll through the park still had its own charm. I wandered around leisurely, getting up close to the animals and encountering several rare creatures. The autumn breeze in Northeast China was so refreshing; it instantly relieved all work stress, a brief moment of healing.
