When staying at BASE LAYER HOTEL NAGOYA NISHIKI, you'll be perfectly positioned to explore Naka Ward.
"There is no coffee or tea provided complimentarily. There’s no spoon for stirring coffee even if you buy your own coffee or tea. So you also need to buy spoon from convenient shop or bring along a spoon from home when you travel to the hotel.
The cleaning is not everyday when when I stay there for 11 nights. When clean up signage is out in the door they are being ignored. So you will not know what to do with the rubbish piled up in the rubbish bin. Even when cleaning was done, the standard was not good. Can still find stain in the sink and the bath.
Some of the personnel at front desk also do not provide the standard greetings that would expect from service provider when eyes met.
I was there tired and wanted to have a check in early, one of the girl said no negotiation check in at 3 pm. Then another said can check in earlier by 1 hour at 2 pm and and pay 1200 yen. So they don’t really know what they are doing? Instruction on early check in not clear?
They also need to pay attention to the maintenance of the room and that depends on the cleaning crew and the maintenance team.
Don’t stay near the vending machine room, you will hear dropping of the soft drinks.
Beside the human factor at the front desk and the cleaning crew, the restaurant is good and the location is great. Bus stops to the city central is 5 minutes away and if walk to the city is about 15 to 20 minutes depending on where you go. Longer if you get distracted."

KKelvin PhuahExcellent service with luggage storage before check in
Buffet breakfast is free and opened to all guests
Location is quite acceptable as not far from Shinkansen station and slight away from Kintetsu and Meitetsu station
GGuest UserI'm extremely satisfied with this hotel's location and room layout/amenities. The Rong business district has everything you could possibly need for dining and shopping. I booked a larger room type, which was essentially the price and size of two standard rooms. I saw a family of three next to me convert the sofa bed into a single bed, which seems perfect for them. As mentioned in previous reviews, the hotel staff can be quite aloof; the older local employees don't offer any pleasantries. I appreciate that you need to swipe your card in the elevator to access guest floors, making it feel very secure.
AAnonymous UserI came for a concert, and the hotel is right behind Niterra, so it was super convenient to just step out. It's also very close to Kanayama Station, which made shopping and getting to the airport easy. For Japan, the room size was decent and had all the necessary amenities. The lobby offered free coffee, and they even thoughtfully wrote a message for concert-goers.
GGbooThis is a Meitetsu Inn property, so the rooms are on the smaller side, with typical Japanese unit baths. At night, the street below transforms into a vibrant, neon-lit entertainment district.
The location is excellent, very close to Nagoya Station and Nagoya Castle, and right by Hisaya-odori Subway Exit 4, just a five-minute walk away.
The breakfast on the first floor, though simple, is quite good. The restaurant offers complimentary tea and coffee all day (until 9 PM) and has a microwave. Vending machines are located on the 4th and 11th floors. There's also a self-service laundry.
Amenities are available for self-service right next to the elevators on the first floor, facing the front desk.
The front desk service was the most 'Showa-era' (old-fashioned, warm, and attentive) hospitality I've ever encountered – incredibly friendly.
Perhaps because it was a Saturday, the price I paid seemed to be about double the usual rate. However, overall, it offers great value for money. Highly recommended!
GGinny ThamThe room was clean and comfy. Staff were really nice and friendly. Enjoyed the buffet breakfast as well, like homecooked food, very comforting. And I love that they provided a warming eye mask free of charge everyday! It came with the towels. Excellent service!
TTuranxiangjiazhuangwenyiqingnianThe hotel rooms in Japan are generally small, but this one was fully equipped and very clean. The soundproofing was also excellent. It was perfect for a couple with a child and offered great value for money. While it's a bit of a walk from the station, once you know the route, it's quite close. The surrounding area is very convenient with plenty of options for food, drinks, and entertainment.
GGuest UserThe hotel was very conveniently located, close to the live house we were visiting that weekend. The facilities were very clean, including the bathroom, and the beds were comfortable. We slept well. The staff was efficient and helpful, and they kindly stored our luggage both before check-in and after check-out.
The only downside is that the hotel is located in a very lively area of Nagoya, and it was quite noisy outside until late at night. We personally didn’t have any trouble sleeping, and there was no noise from neighboring rooms, but it’s something worth keeping in mind.
EEmmalanVery close to Sakae, about a 10-minute walk. You can find both budget-friendly and high-end shopping there. The airport bus stop is super convenient: turn left out of the hotel, cross the street, then turn right, and it's just a three-minute walk. The subway is also nearby, about a five-minute walk. I booked a twin room, which came with two chairs and a small round table. The space isn't huge but it's perfectly adequate. There's a laundry room, an ice machine, and even a microwave on each floor. The only downside was the long wait for the elevator.
TTiantianzhuizhumaqidaThe location is excellent, right in front of Nagoya Station. I specifically chose it for its proximity to the bus center since I was taking a highway bus. It's super convenient with izakayas and the station nearby, and I even discovered a theater. The breakfast was also plentiful and delicious. The room size wasn't small at all, and while double beds are usually 1.4 meters wide, this one was 1.6 meters, which felt very spacious. Plus, they had a great selection of amenities downstairs.
GGuest UserThis hotel is super convenient for getting around, being close to the Shinkansen exit at Nagoya Station. The room wasn't large, but it was spotless, and the bedding was comfortable. There are plenty of convenience stores and restaurants nearby, which was great during our trip. With its excellent value for money and location, I'd definitely want to stay here again on my next visit to Nagoya.
