I had a wonderful experience staying at Funky Monkey Hotel Hostel and Apartment in Thamel, Kathmandu. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and comfortable. The location is absolutely fantastic—right in the heart of Thamel, with restaurants, cafés, shops, bars, nightlife, and everything you need just a short walk away. At the same time, the property itself has a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, which made it a great place to come back to after exploring Kathmandu. The room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The bed was comfortable, the room had good Wi-Fi and air conditioning, and having a private bathroom was very convenient. Everything was arranged in a simple but practical way, making the room feel like a good place to relax after a busy day of sightseeing. What really made my stay special was the staff and hospitality. Everyone was friendly, polite, welcoming, and always ready to help whenever I needed something. They greeted me with a smile and made me feel more like a welcomed guest than just another customer. Their helpful attitude and warm Nepali hospitality made a big difference to my overall experience. I also really enjoyed the rooftop area. It is a great place to sit, relax, have a drink, meet other travelers, and enjoy the lively atmosphere of Thamel. If you are traveling alone, with friends, or as a couple, I think the rooftop is one of the nicest places to spend some time in the evening. Another thing I appreciated was the overall value for money. You get a great location, comfortable accommodation, helpful staff, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and a welcoming atmosphere without paying luxury-hotel prices. For travelers who want to explore Kathmandu and stay somewhere convenient, comfortable, and social, this is a very good choice. I would definitely recommend Funky Monkey Hotel Hostel and Apartment to anyone visiting Kathmandu, especially backpackers, couples, solo travelers, families, and people looking for a convenient place to stay in Thamel. Location is amazing in Thamel, super easy to walk around for food and many things Staff at front desk was very friendly and helpful And there is a cocktail coupon every day Only breakfast was too late because my schedule to leave at 9 am but it was ready at 8.30 am and two days in a row. Overall it is very nice hotel to stay when you go to Kathmandu

VERY GOOD STAFF AND KIND BEST PLACE TO STAY IN CITY

I stayed for 2 nights, it didn't feel safe for me as a solo woman traveller. One the first night around 11pm there were 3-4 men shouting and laughing and knocked my door. I was scared and called the reception. The phone wire was not connected to the phone, i have to hold it tight to the phone while i was speaking. It was a terrifying experience. When in emergency even the phone wasn't working! the receptionist took 30 min to for the men to calm down. The next day morning the receptionist told me they men moved out. But i saw them in the evening in the hotel. Didn't feel safe. Again, the men, shouting and aloud. Still i couldn't sleep there, awake whole two nights i stayed there, didn't feel safe. The place was clean. Location was good.

Location: The hotel's location is excellent, very close to Thamel Street, just a few minutes' walk away. It's a quiet spot amidst the hustle and bustle, with a peaceful environment. Price: Extremely good value for money, and the price is very reasonable. It even includes breakfast, where you can have eggs prepared in various ways – just tell the restaurant staff if you want fried eggs, scrambled eggs, an omelet, and so on. Plus, airport pick-up is included! This makes it even better value. Facilities: The hotel is well-equipped with all the necessary facilities. My room even had a refrigerator. The hotel overall is quite clean, and there's plenty of hot water. The staff are all very friendly. Nice stay here~

Hotel Yala Peak – A Cozy Gem in the Heart of Thamel I recently stayed at Hotel Yala Peak during my visit to Kathmandu, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. Tucked away in a quiet alley in the bustling Thamel area, this hotel is the perfect balance between peace and convenience. Rooms: The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. Mine had a great view of the inner courtyard, and the bed was surprisingly soft. Hot water and good Wi-Fi were consistently available, which is a big plus! Service: The staff here are truly outstanding. Friendly, professional, and always ready to help with a smile. Whether it was arranging airport pickups, tours, or just recommending places to eat, they went above and beyond. Location: Ideal for tourists. You're minutes away from shops, restaurants, and trekking gear stores, but the hotel is just far enough from the main street to feel calm and relaxed. Price: Great value for money. The rates are budget-friendly without compromising on comfort or cleanliness. Extras: They also offer luggage storage for trekkers, which is super convenient, and the rooftop is a nice place to unwind. Overall: Highly recommended for solo travelers, couples, and trekkers. If you're looking for a safe, clean, and affordable place in Kathmandu with genuine hospitality, Hotel Yala Peak is a fantastic choice.

Royal Atlantic Home was a very nice hotel. We had a room in the 4th floor with a balcony that was very nice to sit there and have your breakfast or coffee. Our stay was including a basic breakfast with coffee. The people working in the hotel were very helpful and polite. They helped us with our luggage as there is not a lift and they answered all of our questions. They even helped us with our city tour and it was amazing. Noris, our driver was very good! He took us 2 full days around kathmandu and he was waiting patiently always. Thank you for everything!

Had a terrible experience at this hotel - booked it as a first stop in Kathmandu on arrival in Nepal, place to put my luggage while trekking and a last night before flying out of the country. There is no provision for bag check - no tag given or the like. Asked if could leave / check my bag was told yes and to leave infront of front desk. Two weeks later when I returned to the hotel bag was still in the lobby infront of front desk. Things were missing of course - none of great enough value to argue, but the fact they couldn’t even be bothered to move the bag a few feet to a closet / holding space or the like is indicative of the way this place rolls. Tried to book a shuttle for early morning to airport through hotel, listed as included service. Despite confirming and reconfirming, they arranged nothing. Instead at 5:15 AM it became a game of let’s make a deal and see how much we can charge while providing no evidence there was even a driver. In the end I gave up and carted my luggage to the street to get a taxi. Nepal is a wonderful country - this hotel was a consistent bad experience. Rooms themselves are meh - didn’t try the free breakfast, on site restaurant was pretty good, atmosphere/ food. This isn’t a cheap hotel by local standards - for the price point there are much / many options in the area.

A Lovely Stay at Kumari Boutique Hotel We had a really pleasant stay at Kumari Boutique Hotel in Kathmandu. The hotel was comfortable, clean, and conveniently located, but what truly stood out to us was the excellent staff and their warm hospitality. A special mention to the Front Office Supervisor she was incredibly kind, professional, and helpful throughout our stay. She was always approachable and genuinely willing to assist us whenever we needed anything. I would definitely recommend that other guests feel comfortable approaching her for any help or assistance during their stay. Her friendly attitude made us feel very welcome and well taken care of. The entire staff was friendly, attentive, and accommodating, which made our experience even more enjoyable. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Kumari Boutique Hotel and would happily recommend it to anyone visiting Kathmandu. The wonderful staff, especially the Front Office Supervisor, were definitely one of the highlights of our stay. We would be very happy to stay here again!
