Crazy House Dalat: a crazy fairytale house, one of Vietnam's most unusual attractions.
Crazy House (in Vietnamese – Ngôi Nhà Điên, Chinese name – 疯狂屋) is the main calling card of the city of Dalat, an architectural landmark unique in all of Southeast Asia. Designed by Vietnamese architect Dang Viet Nga, the building looks more like a set from a fantasy film than an ordinary home.
There are no straight walls, right angles, or standard rectangular rooms. Instead, there are winding, curved corridors, huge artificial tree trunks, cave passages, bizarre animal sculptures, labyrinths, and observation decks overlooking Dalat. The stairs are very steep, narrow, and sometimes without railings, so you need to be very careful when walking on them.
This building was originally intended as a hotel-museum, and some rooms can still be booked for overnight stays. However, the vast majority of tourists come here simply for the stroll and photos.
♥️Practical information for travelers
✅ Opening hours: Every day from approximately 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM
✅ Entrance fee: approximately 60,000–80,000 VND per person (price may vary slightly)
✅ Visiting time: 1–1.5 hours, enough to explore all the labyrinths and take photos.
📌Helpful tips
1. Wear comfortable, non-slip shoes. There are many crooked steps that get wet after rain; high heels are completely unsuitable.
2. On weekends and holiday seasons, it's very crowded; it's best to arrive in the morning right after opening to avoid queues for photos.
3. There's a small cafe inside, where you can stop and rest.
☝️Cons to be aware of
· Very crowded during peak season
· Some passages and staircases are narrow; those with a fear of heights should be careful
· There are almost no original museum exhibits; the whole point of the place is the unusual architecture.
💥A must-see if you're in Dalat. It's a very atmospheric, strange, and memorable place. Even if you're not a fan of sightseeing, a stroll through this labyrinth is sure to leave you speechless.
