Want to eat like a local? Don't miss out on these top Basel dishes and foodie spots.

Switzerland doesn't have to drain your wallet—if you know how to do it yourself! 🏔️✨ Ready to flex those smart travel muscles and make your Swiss dream trip totally affordable? Then buckle up, because I’m spilling all my secret budget hacks! 🚀 💡 THE SWISS DIY MONEY FORMULA ✈️ COMPARE ZURICH (ZRH), GENEVA (GVA), & BASEL (BSL) Don’t just default to flying into Zurich! Check prices for Geneva Airport (Route de l'Aéroport 1215, Grand-Saconnex; open 24/7) and EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (Lyonerstr. 12, 4056 Basel; open 5AM–midnight) too. Factor in airport transfers, trains to your first stop, and even the cost of accommodation. Sometimes, an open-jaw itinerary (flying in one city, out another) saves you both cash and zigzagging around. 😎 🏨 HOSTEL + FREEBIES = WIN Choose hostels or budget hotels with kitchen access, breakfast included, or a Guest Card. For example, many accommodations around Interlaken (like Backpackers Villa, Alpenstrasse 16, open 7AM–10PM) throw in a local Guest Card with free bus access and discounts on attractions. The slightly higher price could save you serious money on transport and food! 🎫 USE THOSE FREE PERKS FIRST Before buying transport tickets, double-check the Guest Card perks at your stay. Staying in Geneva? Many hotels offer the Geneva Transport Card—hello, unlimited trams, buses, and trains in the city! 🙌 🚆 CHOOSE THE RIGHT SBB TRAIN PASS Don’t rush to get a Swiss Travel Pass! Compare Supersaver Tickets, Saver Day Passes, the Swiss Half Fare Card, point-to-point tickets, and regional passes. Each option fits different types of trips — no one-size-fits-all! 🚞 SCENIC TRAIN HACK Want those jaw-dropping Swiss rail views? 😍 For some routes, local regional trains use the same tracks as the iconic panoramic express trains (like Interlaken to Lucerne). You get Insta-worthy scenery without the crazy seat surcharge. Score! 🛒 EAT SMART, SAVE HARD Hit up M-Budget at Migros, Prix Garantie at Coop, or pop into Aldi Suisse, Lidl, and Denner for sandwiches, salads, cheap pasta, ready meals, and fresh bakery treats. Your foodie cravings will thank you—and so will your wallet! 🍳 HOSTEL KITCHEN SLAY Make breakfast, pack your own lunch, cook dinner—repeat. Seriously, using that one hostel or guesthouse kitchen could be the difference between broke and bougie. Check out options in major cities like Zurich (Youth Hostel Zurich, Mutschellenstrasse 114, open 24/7). 💧 STAY HYDRATED FOR FREE Swiss tap water is top-tier! Bring a reusable water bottle and look for public fountains labeled “Trinkwasser” or “Eau potable.” Save cash *and* the planet! 🌎💦 🏔️ PICK YOUR PRICEY EXPERIENCES Don’t feel pressured to splurge on every mountain-top attraction. Choose one or two bucket-list experiences (like Jungfraujoch or Mount Titlis), then balance your trip with loads of free lakes, villages, hiking, and forest adventures. Your IG feed will still be fire—promise! 😉 ❤️ THE REAL SECRET? Don’t focus on making Switzerland *cheap.* Focus on making every CHF hit maximum value. Cut costs where you can, so you can ball out on the stuff you’ll actually remember. 📌 Save this post for your future Switzerland DIY trip! 💯 Ready to live that Swiss dream minus the financial nightmare? Let’s gooo! 🏔️🎒 (Pro-tip: Check out prices and book accommodation through trip.com for some seriously competitive deals!)

I recently took a stroll through Basel, located in northern Switzerland right near the German and French borders! It has a unique vibe that’s quite different from Zurich—a fantastic city where you can soak in medieval streets and contemporary art all at once! 📸 🏰 Basel City Hall (Basler Rathaus) This vibrant red building in Marktplatz is a must-see. The exterior is covered in stunning murals and intricate decorations—it’s truly one of Basel's most iconic landmarks! ⛪ Basel Minster (Basler Münster) This historic cathedral is famous for its twin spires. Built with beautiful reddish sandstone, the interior features soaring ceilings and breathtaking stained glass. 🎨 Kunstmuseum Basel (Museum of Fine Arts) Basel is world-renowned for its art scene. The museum houses everything from classical masterpieces to cutting-edge contemporary works. 🚉 Basel SBB Station A major hub that’s perfect for traveling across Switzerland or crossing into Germany and France. I loved the mix of the historic station architecture and those iconic green trams gliding through the streets. ☔ Basel in the Rain It was a bit gloomy during my visit, but the cobblestone alleys and historic buildings felt so peaceful. There’s a certain magic to European cities in the rain. Rich in history, culture, and art, Basel offers a completely different experience from Zurich or Bern. If you’re traveling through Switzerland, make sure to add this city to your itinerary! 🇨🇭✨ 📍 Basel, Switzerland 🇨🇭 Sightseeing Travel Cathedral City Hall

Basel's City Hall is unexpectedly beautiful. We arrived in the city center early and other attractions were not open, so we went to the City Hall first. The red sandstone building is very colorful and decorated with gold, which is very beautiful. There are many large murals inside the building with rich colors. Against the backdrop of blue sky and white clouds, this red building is even more beautiful.
猫猫在旅行The oil paintings exhibited here are very artistic and the colors are very beautiful.
M32***83We walked along the Rhine River to the famous Three-Country Monument in Basel. The air in Switzerland is so good! There were few people on the road during the morning rush hour. The Three-Country Monument is right by the river, so it was quite memorable to take some photos there.
小丸子本尊There is a sundial on the wall outside the Basel Cathedral. This church has a very long history. What is unique is that there is a highland behind the church, next to the Rhine River. It is a good place to relax and rest. Many people sit here, eat lunch and enjoy the river view. We also sat here for a while and had something to eat.
