Beyond the hot spring area, enjoy the scarecrow-themed farm’s adorable petting zoo, stroll through flower seas, or gather around the fire for tea brewing. From dawn to night, the fun never stops. A must-try “Le Cai feast” on Enping’s culinary scene After soaking in the hot springs, don’t forget to treat your taste buds. Shanquanwan’s original “Le Cai feast” has won Guangdong Province’s “Diamond Banquet” award—the Le Cai roast chicken has crispy skin and tender meat, the tea king shrimp blends tea fragrance with vegetable aroma, plus more than ten creative dishes like Le Cai egg tarts and Le Cai coconut jelly. Jiangmen, Shaoguan, and Baoding are all accessible by high-speed rail, and they have so many kid-friendly activities you'll be spoiled for choice. The kids won't want to go home! Jiangmen, Guangdong | The country's first bitter melon-themed park, kids will scream with joy Jiangmen is a seriously underrated treasure for traveling with kids! The country's first bitter melon-themed park, "Bitter Melon Tribe," just opened for a trial run in Duru Town, Pengjiang District. It covers 17,000 square meters and features over 20 non-motorized amusement facilities, including a bitter melon-shaped castle, a melon vine slide, unique treehouses, and a "bouncing cloud." Seven themed zones integrate bitter melon farming culture into the play area—kids will feel like they've stepped into a fairy tale. Must-play: Beiyuan Park, formerly the Xinhui Zoo, has been renovated into a free botanical park. The 5,200-square-meter children's play area on the east side is a sunken park designed around the original monkey mountain's elevation difference. It features an ancient ship symbolizing the Maritime Silk Road, an ocean tunnel, excavators, windsurfing equipment, and more, all with super-safe soft flooring. Donghu Park is one of the eight scenic spots in Jiangmen and is free to enter. It has over 30 amusement facilities like a carousel and Ferris wheel, plus musical fountains and waterfalls—kids won't get bored even after a full day. Must-eat: Gujing roast goose is bright in color and delicious, Enping cakes are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and chicken dung vine cakes are fragrant and chewy—all authentic Jiangmen flavors that kids will enjoy too. Travel tips: From Wenzhou, you need to transfer at Guangzhou South. The whole trip takes about 11 hours, so we recommend breaking up the trip or taking an overnight sleeper train. Shaoguan | Forest animal slides + free science museum, learning through play Shaoguan's kid-friendly setup is truly underrated! The children's area at Furong Mountain Sports Park just opened. It's themed around forest animals and features three large animal-themed slides and a huge sand pit. Covering about 3,000 square meters, kids won't want to leave once they see the slides. The park also has a water play area, climbing area, and plant experience area, with free parking available. Free science treasures: The "Nature Home" at Renhua Chengnan Forest Park is free to enter. It includes 8 exhibition halls, and the nature science classroom can accommodate 60 students. They've added hundreds of plant seeds, insect specimens, and over 500 books for teenagers. The guides are friendly and patient—it's a meaningful way to help kids learn about nature. Zhongshan Park is also free and has a children's activity area, over 20 ancient trees, and the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall to visit along the way. Must-eat: Beef brisket skewers are a Lechang specialty—meatballs, brisket, and tendon skewered together, drizzled with a secret sauce. They're full of flavor, affordable, and were named one of the top 10 "Shaozhou Hakka" dishes in 2023. Snail soup with pickled bamboo shoots is tangy and appetizing, and pickled radishes are crunchy and delicious—flavors Shaoguan locals grow up eating. The freshly baked bun is golden and crispy, stuffed with braised donkey meat that's neither greasy nor dry—it's delicious. Paired with a bowl of hot soup and pickles, it's the most comforting breakfast for locals. Travel tips: From Wenzhou, you need to transfer in Beijing or Changsha. The whole trip takes about 11 hours, so we recommend a high-speed rail + transfer combination. Tips for traveling with kids Take it slow: Plan only 1–2 core activities per day and return to the hotel for a nap at noon—the kids' energy is more important than anything else. Prioritize free: There are endless free parks and science museums in these three cities—you can have a blast without spending a dime on tickets. Transportation choices: Jiangmen and Baoding are further away, so we recommend breaking up the trip or taking an overnight sleeper train. Transfers in Shaoguan are relatively convenient. Check "Chuanshan Tourism" for wind/cancellation notices in advance; don't force it during typhoons. · Within the city: Distances between Diaolou areas are several to over 10 km; chartering a car/renting a car for 4 people at 300 yuan/day is most convenient; Chikan Ancient Town is entirely walkable. ⚠️ August–September tips 1. Watch for typhoons: July–September is typhoon season in South China. Chuan Island ferries are easily suspended. Don't book the island for the last day of your trip; leave room for rescheduling. 2. Go to Diaolou early: Zili Village is less crowded and has soft light from 7:30 AM–9:00 AM. After 10:00 AM, tour groups arrive and the overhead light is harsh. The 180-yuan package is valid for 2 days and saves nearly 100 yuan compared to individual tickets. 3. Chikan is better at night: The arcade buildings are scorching during the day. The lights + sculling boat after 7:00 PM are the soul of the town. Refuse to buy the high-priced "performance pass"; just buy individual boat/light show tickets. 4. Avoid tangerine peel scams: Only go to Xinhui Chenpi Village, Xinbaotang/Gangzhou Laohao. Ask for the traceability code. Beginners should buy 3-year-aged peel; roadside "10-year-old black peel" is often dyed. 5. Sun and mosquito protection: High UV on islands + mosquitoes in Diaolou rice fields. Bring high-SPF sunscreen, mosquito repellent, and non-slip sandals (Diaolou stone steps are slippery after rain). 6. Roast goose early: Arrive at Gujing Roast Goose before 11:00 AM to avoid lines. Shops with the same name at the entrance of scenic spots have significant markups. Summer in Jiangmen isn't "just hot"; it's about immersing the hometown of overseas Chinese in morning mist, Diaolou, and salty sea breezes—listening to the wind over the rice fields at Mingshi Tower in Zili Village in the morning, munching on tofu corners under the arcade buildings in Chikan at noon, and stepping into the sunset on the waves at Xiachuan Island in the evening. This slow pace, a blend of East and West, is the overlooked side of the Greater Bay Area.

While visiting the Foshan Ancestral Temple Museum, I walked into Zhuangyuan Hall almost by curiosity. At first, I didn’t really understand what the word Zhuangyuan represented. As I moved through the exhibition, the story became much clearer. A Zhuangyuan was not simply a successful scholar. It was the person who achieved first place at the highest level of China’s imperial examination system, the very top after years of study and extremely difficult examinations. One fact particularly surprised me: Guangdong produced 14 Zhuangyuan, and seven were associated with Foshan, five from the civil examinations and two from the military examinations. Suddenly, the old examination papers, handwritten records, books, ranking lists, certificates and large honor plaques around me had a completely different meaning. I found myself imagining the people behind them. Years of preparation, enormous pressure, families waiting for the results, and finally seeing a name at the very top of the list. I also spent quite a lot of time looking closely at the old objects and decorative details. The precision of some of this traditional craftsmanship is remarkable, especially when you remember the tools available at that time. For me, this was not simply another museum room filled with old objects. It gave me a better understanding of how seriously education, discipline and achievement were valued in traditional Chinese society. I entered knowing almost nothing about Zhuangyuan culture. I left understanding why Foshan is so proud of this part of its history. 📍 Zhuangyuan Hall, Foshan Ancestral Temple Museum 🚇 Metro: Zumiao Station 📍 Address: No. 21 Zumiao Road, Chancheng District, Foshan 📸 My tip: Take your time here. Look closely at the examination papers, rankings and honor plaques. Once you understand what becoming a Zhuangyuan meant, the exhibition becomes much more interesting. #ZhuangyuanHall #Foshan #FoshanAncestralTemple #Guangdong #ChineseHistory #ImperialExamination #CulturalHeritage #Museum #China #Travel #Travel2026
The whole family went there to play. I've been there several times. The weather is getting cold, so I took my family there. It's a good place for health preservation and family gatherings. You can also sit down and chat face to face and talk! It's really good, I will go again next time!
灰太朗朗朗Historic district refurnished to become a tourist complex. A blend of history and modern shops and restaurants. There are free shows to watch but booking is necessary. A good place to go to, can spend up to half a day there.

真诚7577Kaiping Diaolou and villages are listed as a World Cultural Heritage site, so I made a special trip to see them. They are indeed very unique. Merchants who went out to make money brought back architectural elements from all over the world and combined them with traditional Chinese culture to build unified yet distinctive Diaolou, providing security not only for their families but also for their neighbors. Now these buildings are also providing an income for the villagers. The ticket price for the scenic area is indeed not low.
🌸 无心🌸I took my kids there on Sunday. Because we chose the wrong route, we had to go through many twists and turns. The kids looked pale from the ride, but the moment we entered the park, we felt that it was worth it because the animals inside were cute, and there were a few motor vehicles that the kids had fun playing with. Unfortunately, the facilities inside were old, and the roses we planted had all withered, so there was nothing to take pictures of except the animals. But the kids were happy, so it was worth it.
M45***21Back at Hero Island, there were new things to do! The little one's world was brightened up! A staff member knelt down to talk to her and gave her a flashcard; she was ecstatic all day. She wasn't tall enough for the penguin roller coaster, so the staff gently recommended a gentler ride on the carousel and even played some interactive games with her. The three of us rode in one capsule at the Sea Monster Tower, and when we reached the top, my daughter pointed into the distance and said, "There are otters over there!" We bought a Pink Little Qi doll at the Pink Little Qi shop, and she wears pink clothes just like her. The whole area was clean and bright; even the ice cream that a child spilled was immediately cleaned up. The service truly understands families with children.
M81***97We had a fantastic day at Chimelong Safari Park! The park is beautiful, with amazing scenery and a huge variety of animals. It's enormous, so I strongly recommend arriving early to have enough time to explore everything without rushing. We expected to see more giant pandas, but there were only two, although they were incredibly cute! We also hoped to see red pandas, which were listed as being at the park, but unfortunately, there were none. The animal show was excellent and entertaining, even though it was entirely in Chinese. We also hired a wonderful guide who was friendly, helpful and made a real effort to ensure we enjoyed our visit. We appreciated her efforts so much that we gave her an extra tip, even though she initially refused it.Overall, a great experience and well worth visiting in Guangzhou. Just arrive early and check which animals are available to see before your visit!
Bogdan StoianovWe entered from the South Gate. Although there were many people, it wasn't chaotic at all. The signs were very clear, and the staff were very responsible. It was a very enjoyable trip for the kids; Guangzhou is beautiful and delicious. It was our first time seeing a rhinoceros and our first time riding a cable car—a great experience!
_We***98Quanlin Golden Town Review Beautiful natural scenery: Quanlin Golden Town is located in Enping City, Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province. It has about 3,000 acres of Wanquan Lake and 40,000 acres of primitive mountains and natural forests. The lake is rippling with blue waves, which contrasts with the surrounding green mountains. It seems to be in a landscape painting. The air is particularly fresh, as if it can wash away the dust of the soul. Rich tourist facilities: The town has a group of theme hotels, simulated ski halls, flight theme halls, large theme parks, yacht clubs, golf driving ranges, etc. Whether it is a parent-child tour, a couple's tour or a gathering of friends, you can find entertainment projects suitable for yourself. In particular, the Hippopotamus Racing Circuit has created a national A-level high-standard track, where you can experience the speed and passion of racing. Excellent hot spring experience: The rare geothermal water Hetian Hot Spring is known as the "Beauty Soup" and has a good skin care effect. It is an excellent choice for relaxation. Summary: Quanlin Golden Town is a comprehensive tourist destination that integrates natural scenery, rich tourist facilities and hot spring experience. Whether you want to get close to nature or find entertainment projects, this place can meet your needs and is a good place worth visiting.
M43***18This place is highly recommended! It is the only UNESCO World Heritage Site in Gunangdon Province of China. The historic building complex is intriguing, and it is embedded in the deep history of Chinese working overseas during the time of civil unrest and invasion by western powers and by Japan. Those Chinese workers brought back money for their family members in China, to build all these buildings. It is a worthwhile visit to see the buildings and the history behind!
