A unique example of a church in the mountains of Cádiz — traveler post in Olvera

A unique example of a church in the mountains of Cádiz

Andalusian Tour: Cádiz Region The Cathedral of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación, located in the center of Olvera, is a unique example in the Cádiz mountains due to its shape and size. Built on the foundation of a previous Gothic-Mudejar church, it retains the apse along with the ancient Moorish castle, making it one of the two landmarks of Olvera. The adjacent viewpoint offers a unique view of the church. This neoclassical church consists of three naves, with the central nave being the largest and overlapping with the three sections of the sanctuary. At its base, it has a massive three-part façade that rises to a fourth section, each with an octagonal shrine featuring arches and topped with simple lanterns, flanked by twin towers at the entrance. The interior of the church features barrel vaults and domes on the transept lanterns, with the use of ornate Italian marble on the altar and columns being particularly striking.

The most characteristic town in the mountainous region of Cádiz — traveler post in Olvera

The most characteristic town in the mountainous region of Cádiz

Perched on a ridge, the white houses reflect the brilliant Andalusian sunshine. Olvera, located between the Lijar and Harinas mountain ranges, is an excellent gateway to the Cadiz mountains from the north. It is nestled among wooded hills and olive groves. From a distance, two structures stand out for their height and scale: one is the ancient Arab castle, whose history is intertwined with the walls and buttresses of Olvera and was reformed during the Christian period; the other is the magnificent neoclassical Church of Encarnacion. Together, they form the classic landscape of Olvera. Other undoubtedly interesting sites include the Monastery of Canos Santos, the Sanctuary of Los Remedios, and the Casa de la Cilla building, which currently houses the Olvera 'La Frontera y los Castillos' Museum.

Olvera, Spain — traveler post in Olvera

Olvera, Spain

Olvera is another one of those fairytale villages that from a distance is spellbinding. As you cross the rugged plains of the Sierra de Grazalema you will at once see, rising out of the surrounding olive groves, an exquisite white village with a soaring cathedral and castle at its center. Olvera is yet another chance to go back in time and explore these ancient white villages along the now famous "pueblos blancos" route in southern Spain. If you are thinking of visiting these beautiful towns, Olvera is one not to miss. The town was even declared a center of "Artistic and Historic Importance" in 1983 by the Spanish government. #city #cityoverlook #citytopics #cityvacation #citylife #village #country #urbanexplore #urbanexplor #tripinspired #tripgood #easylife #travelguide#cityoverlook#bestislandtraveltowns#naturalwonders

Bullring of the Royal Cavalry of Ronda

Hemingway said that Ronda is the best place to elope. It is a city in the sky, built on a cliff. There are scenery everywhere you look. It also has the oldest bullring in Spain.

Puente Nuevo. Centro de Interpretación

I had only seen it on TV, but this time I made up my mind to go. As a result, I had the best experience of my life. I personally felt the value of it as a historical asset, and I felt the grandeur and thrill! You should definitely go.

El Tajo de Ronda

Royal Alcázar of Seville

It’s very historic attraction, and we really enjoyed seeing the luxury tiles artwork. The gardens are beautiful. Have got a lot of home decor ideas, the souvenir shops is great too.

Old Bridge of Ronda

Join a guided tour of Spain and Portugal. This small group tour for 25 guests includes all-inclusive packages: five nights in a five-diamond hotel, direct flights from Air China, six special meals, and Wi-Fi. [The following appears unrelated and likely a separate topic:] Flamenco show, vintage carriage tour, high-speed AVE train, and admission to seven major attractions: Sagrada Familia, Alhambra, Park Güell, Royal Palace of Madrid, and Seville Cathedral. On the morning of Day 4, we'll depart from Granada for Ronda. Our guide will lead us to the Ronda New Bridge, then to the Ronda Terraced Gardens, one of the Ronda viewpoints, to see the Ronda Old Bridge. Ronda, a small city dating back to the Roman Empire and the birthplace of bullfighting, is located in the heart of Andalusia, Spain. Its scenic beauty and vibrant atmosphere earned Hemingway the nickname "the perfect place for elopement." Divided by the Tejas River, Ronda is the Old Town and the New Town. The Old Town, perched atop a cliff, offers a breathtaking view. Ronda boasts a mild climate and often sunny days. The best times to visit are between May and September. During the Romero Festival in early September, numerous bullfights are held, offering a glimpse into the locals' passion and bravery. Most of Ronda's attractions are concentrated in the old town, with notable ones including the world's oldest bullring and the 14th-century Islamic Palace, the residence of the Moorish king Apomelico.

Alhambra

Beautiful place, rich with history and an abundance of instagrammable shots for the social media moguls. I would advise booking tickets in advance as they sell out and make sure you include the Nasrid palace to it and immerse yourself in the history of these wonderful moorish buildings.

Seville Cathedral

Lovely experience. So much history in one place. There were lots of renovations as well so be careful, but they are super good with making boundaries so you don’t step anywhere near it. Make sure you put 2 hours for this place and go up to the tower as you get to see the whole of Sevilla from different points of view
